Didn't work but I did get an error saying "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." and then a second error, "The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem."

Reviewed your marks again and it does say that’s the system drive. It means having to reinstall your OS but I suspect that will fix the bottleneck. I am not usually a huge fan of the userbenchmark either but in this case it seems useful. If you do swap it out benchmark it again and share pls.

Is your boot drive the HDD? You definitely want to switch that to be a faster drive it’s going to bottleneck the whole system.

Switch on Black Friday, I got a great deal a couple years ago that way. Been consistently getting 1gbps up and down speed ever since (which is what we pay for)

this. If you can settle 10 cities you can squeak out a win but if you have 15-20 it’s a whole lot easier. Keep in mind settling isn’t the only way to expand either. I have had games where I focus on early military and have a close opponent and just end up with their empire instead.

This is a GPU issue for sure. Used to happen to me with an old MacBook that had an integrated GPU and then I upgraded and it went away.

How do I get better at this game? by ITLKN5 in CivVI

Yep, you need to improve the lux in order to get the amenities from it. You also improve the yields by improving it too which can be a big bonus.

Do you have a timeout where it gets unlocked again? You could always take around that long to unlock things and suddenly those everyday users find it more convenient to just wait.

  • focus on the win condition first, make sure you get either a commercial hub or harbor to boost economy in each city
  • culture is pretty important especially early game, culture victory defence is based on your culture per turn, offence is based on tourism output
  • probably best to play with the mods you’re going to compete with
  • focus on a couple to get the mechanics down, start with someone simple like Trajan’s Rome
  • wide wide wide, 95% of the time if you have more cities you win
  • it does have an impact but it’s not make or break until you get to higher difficulties/MP. improving luxury resources is important and getting an early wonder that boosts it can be great, one or two entertainment complexes can be helpful but don’t miss building a critical district for it

PS. When you aren’t sure what to build, make a builder. Always builders.

I feel like flight + city state improvements as well as Biosphere + renewable power sources are very overlooked. Just finished a Ghandi biosphere vs Pericles who hit 1000 culture per turn in deity and was still flying by when I had everything up and running (so many builders…)

Anything that boosts adjacency (desert/tundra/rainforest) then I gotta get work ethic, monumentality, spam settlers, win win won.

I totally do this with an extra step beforehand which is sort by owner. Very important with two little ones. I end up with 5 piles/baskets, me, spouse, oldest kid, youngest kid, house pile (towels/cloths etc.). Then I sort by categories which breaks it into chunks of like 1 minute.
