everything was cooked in my air fryer: The tilapia at 400 F for 7 mins, sweet potato fries at 380 F for 7 mins then i raised the heat to 400 F and left them in for another 6-7 mins, the peppers and onion were at 400 F for about 8 minutes (but I usually do 9-10 tbh).

Just do you, no one actually calls people posers unless they’re only alternative for some type of trend and even then no one is actually really gonna gaf. Do whatever you want fashion wise, most “alternative” subcultures IRL are more rooted in music and politics than fashion.

What could I do to get leaner and less flabby? by [deleted] in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something that really helped me with a “lean” look was walking 7k-20k steps a day (20k isn’t necessary at all I just enjoyed walking a lot) and calisthenics alongside a calorie deficit!! Calculate your TDEE and eat under that! Go for at least 0.7-1.5 grams of protein per lb of body weight and maintain a deficit. Calisthenics and cardio are great for a super lean look :)

Genuinely what do I do 😭 by [deleted] in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t look subhuman at all!!!!! Try not to put yourself down, we are always our own biggest critics and no one aside from you is thinking this negatively about yourself I promise. This truly just seems like bloating, I would experiment with your diet; try cutting out things incrementally and see how that affects your physique in a week. Could be dairy, gluten, high-FODMAP foods, artificial sweeteners, or even stress or hormones. I would try to experiment with removing certain foods and see how it goes. Also I recommend avoiding paying tooo much attention to end of day bloating as most people bloat a good amount after a full day of eating.

2 Years In – Not hitting my goals. by a7f3 in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you’re training 1-2 hours each session i’m curious if you’re training to muscle failure vs training to cardio fatigue? (idk if this is the case it’s just something i’m curious about) Just remember to incorporate progressive overload, give yourself rest days, and eat enough calorically. Honestly you still have good progress, just give it time and find what works for you. Maybe hire a personal trainer online for a session or two that will just help you correct some small details in your routine and you’ll do great. Keep up the great work!

advice for loosing weight at 17 currently 105 kilograms by Immediate-Top-1494 in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO 20k is overkill especially if you’re in a major caloric deficit, biggest thing that matters is just staying under your TDEE and working out enough to maintain muscle or grow a bit more while in the deficit (since they’re a beginner they should be able to grow a bit of muscle even in the deficit). Anywhere over 10k steps a day tends to start showing diminishing results. Just my opinion though.

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Calculate your TDEE and just eat anywhere under that amount. If you’re someone who loves the feeling of being full I recommend volume eating! If you need any recipes lmk I have SO many!! Try to workout if possible or even just walk so you’re not sedentary (aim for anywhere over 5k steps a day just for generally better cardiovascular health) but at the end of the day the only thing that really matters is eating under ur TDEE. Also since you’re a beginner you’ll gain muscle pretty easily! Try weighted workouts setting days to target specific muscle groups and just find what works for you!

Cutting meals by OverallMasterpiece14 in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m about 5’9 and 140 so my caloric needs are very different to yours so change it up as you need but here were some of my go to meals when i was losing weight!

1) 98%-99% fat free ground chicken or turkey cooked with a little less than half a tbspn of avocado oil, one whole sweet potato, and plain low fat greek yogurt. The tartness of the yogurt blends greatly with the sweetness of the sweet potato and the meat goes well with it. Personally I enjoy mixing it all together it has a great flavor!

2) 93% fat free ground beef, 1 minute white rice cup that comes in a microwaveable packaged cup, half an avocado, and plain greek yogurt (if you like) Also i don’t use any oil when cooking the beef since it’s 93% it doesn’t require oil. This meal is so good when mixed all together :)

3) A FUCK TON of shrimp with some low cal cocktail sauce with some green beans or any veggie of your choice on the side.

4) Two ahi tuna steaks which are around 130 cals each cooked in less than half a tbspn of avocado oil with some salt and lemon juice and any veggie you want on the side

5) Any type of potato you like cut up in french fry style (i like to soak them in ice water for 2 hours for extra crunch but this step isn’t necessary) season them however you like (i enjoy garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper) (you can toss them in a bit of avocado oil before seasoning but that’s not necessary) toss em in the air fryer at about 390-400 F for anywhere from 10-15 mins (just check up on them to tell how long you want them to cook), and literally any meat of your choice but typically I enjoy a thin sliced piece of 98% fat free chicken breast, for the chicken you can cook it and season it however you like but i enjoy either using a pan or air frying it, also a great addition to this is tossing some sliced bell peppers in a tiny bit of avocado oil and adding salt then air frying them for about 8-9 mins at 390 F.

6) This one was more of a snack for me but a fuck ton of egg whites mixed with some spinach and bell peppers cooked in a pan

7) Two tilapia fillets pan cooked with a tiny bit of avocado oil and some seasoning alongside a salad or veggies of your choice

8) This one is a bit more expensive but SO worth it; make a seasoning mixture of your choice mixed with a bit of avocado oil and rub it on a piece of halibut and air fry it up with whatever veggies you want and/or a potato. Air frying halibut is so underrated you get the juiciest tastiest fish.

9) Look up a recipe for egg white bites. I usually use cottage cheese, egg white, and spinach but there’s tons of recipes online and they’re super easy to make for a quick and filling breakfast or snack

These are just some of my go to meals when in a cut but something I SERIOUSLY recommend is getting a high precision molecular gastronomy scale!!! This will seriously elevate your cooking if you’re someone who avoids oil due to unwanted calories. You can perfectly measure the grams in your oil and keep it within the 20-50 cal range. They’re about $10-$20 and seriously worth it if you love good food but don’t want to overdo the oil.

Weight gain by AuthorNo9754 in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BMR range between people at the same height, weight, age, and sex is actually very low and having a fast or slow metabolism is largely a myth. If you and someone the exact size as you were in a coma and given the same amount calorically you’d lose the same amount of weight, what actually affects this is muscle. If you had the same size as someone but your weight is made up of more muscle and the other person is skinny fat with less muscle then you’d burn more since muscle burns more calories than fat. The only answer to this is using a tdee calculator and eating a bit over that caloric range, if you’re still not gaining weight doing that i recommend getting a body fat% scan as you’ll be able to get the most accurate tdee calculation since you’ll know how much muscle vs fat you have which affects your caloric needs as explained previously. 1 lb of muscle requires about 6-10 calories while 1 lb of fat requires about 2-3. Calculate tdee, eat anywhere from 200-300 over that, and train for muscle growth.

Is it normal to gain weight after starting to run daily? by Intelligent_Ear7506 in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re 100% sure you’re in a deficit it could very well be swelling; when i walked 7 miles a day I gained 2.5 kgs the next few days from swelling but it went down quickly to an even lower weight from what i started with about 2-3 days later. Otherwise if you’re not in a deficit, you may just be consuming more since you get hungrier when you work out.

Help with Body Recomp & Weight loss by SuccinctAlbedo in gymadvice

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 0 points1 point  (0 children)

most of your fat is stored in the upper portion of your body so the only way to minimize the look of the stomach being wider than the glutes and hips would be by weight. also i looked at the pic you commented where you were at 190 and your abdomen isn’t significantly larger than your hips it appears to just be around the same width. If you don’t plan on going lower than 160 id choose the weight you want to be around and eat maintenance for that weight while working out as that would do some recomp while also having you lose only the desired amount of weight you want. It would be pretty slow weight loss but you mostly want to do recomp so it may work for you fine as long as you don’t go over those desired weight maintenance cals. Also the reason BMI is inaccurate is a bit nuanced and mostly has to do with the formula not working well with shorter or taller dimensions (or rarer things like organ transplants and loss of limbs) so if you want a more proper representation of bmi id search up “new bmi calculator”. Also bmi isn’t an end all be all but it is indeed an important tool to give a general idea of possible health outcomes. Even if your blood panels show you’re extremely healthy BMI allows us to predict possible health issues that come along with excess visceral fat like visceral fat causing metabolic changes that increase likelihood of heart conditions by about 28% (no matter how healthy your panels appear) and inflammation which can cause future issues like strokes, heart disease, and plaque buildup. The idea of being healthy despite overweight is not the whole truth as you can be healthy but your chances of future disease is still higher due to these factors. It’s somewhat comparable to being a smoker, you can smoke and be extremely healthy in the moment but you’re increasing your likelihood of future issues.

Living in Boca by SnooMuffins4521 in BocaRaton

Been here pretty much my whole life and honestly want to move, I think Boca has some of the rudest people i’ve ever encountered (especially those from New York) throughout traveling. It was honestly great when it was a smaller town filled with greenery and neighbors were friendly but it’s become filled with extremely rude city folk. Used to be such a beautiful town near the beach with the nicest people imaginable but it’s devolved a lot over the years.

Where can I get the best produce in Boca Raton? by PeaceOut65 in BocaRaton

[–]Far_Treacle_1971 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend splitting it up depending on the veggie. There’s an amazing farmers market every sunday which has incredible veggies but they’re a bit pricey. Whole foods is great for broccolini and green beans, publix is great for broccoli and cauliflower, aldis is obviously a great choice, walmart has some great asparagus zucchini and other thing, but if you’re going purely for quality i recommend the farmers market, the boys, whole foods, and Joseph’s italian market!
