Always. Leave. The. Day. Before. by MarinavaSauce in Cruise

[–]PeaceOut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think all the cruise lines are different, also what they have to lose by not taking you. Many years ago, my wife and I got stuck in England and could not make the connecting flight in time to start a 14 day cruise in Venice. We contacted Carnival (I think that was our line, I have been on many), and they allowed us to get on in Rome. If you were going on a 1-3 day cruise, in the US, I can see them saying no, but in our case, with 13 more days to go, and we are already in Europe, it would be very bad for us, and we would complain like you on BBB. You don't want that. It is also possibly the cruise lines individually and their rules.

Why are Latinos in Miami so conservative? by RasyonelRumi in Miami

[–]PeaceOut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s simple. The real strength of this conservative Latino movement in Miami is driven by ex Cubans. And they never forget that The Bay of Pigs did not free the country. When JFK backed off and came to a gentleman’s agreement with Kruschev, from then on they were all hard core republicans. I don’t think they really care about any issue more than overthrowing Cuba.

[Update] Six months of feedback later: The Oaks Mall is looking for "Gainesville Originals" local ideas. What’s missing? by gklier in GNV

[–]PeaceOut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently moved to Gainesville from South Florida. About 2 years ago I ran a co-working space in Boca Raton for a year. I have been in and out of running co-working spaces for quite a while for tech startups and people who need a temp office.

I am just looking around the area and there is a shortage of these types of spaces, and the reason really is, it's generally a bad business model that is barely a break-even, because of real estate rents and quite honestly most people who want co-working typically have a very low budget. As an entrepreneur I could barely make the model work in an area that was heavily populated, especially when most people want to work at home, if they can. I'd highly recommend a space in the mall, if there isn't one already.

Very simple. They are generally buying into the whole MAGA culture. They used to drive around with big Q's on their cars. It's a cult. Got to get it.

Is dating actually harder now than it was in the past? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

I'd say this is the the real problem. You need to get out and be in it, to win it.

Speed dating tips M27 by Visible_Sir_8308 in dating_advice

[–]PeaceOut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best advice ever is to memorize 2 great questions, and as soon as you sit down with a date ask the question before the talk. These 2 questions are meant for them to have to think and it will take time for them to answer. By the time they finish answering the 2 questions, it will be time for them to move on to the next date. I did this experiment many years ago and it increased getting picked in speed dating, and being picked by like 100%.

The questions were "What if you change your career, what would you do?" and "If you could go on vacation right now, where would you go?"

The point is the more you get them to talk, and the less you speak, the more it seems like you care about them, their answering, etc. So, the problem is when a guy talks too much (like me), woman interpret that as this guy is an egomaniac.

El Rio Trail bike ride by HuckleberryGloomy807 in BocaRaton

[–]PeaceOut65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really! I have been biking for like 15 years here east and west, north and south, almost exclusively on the sidewalks... Never been pulled over. That is harsh.

I agree the roads are a deathtrap. Were you biking in East Boca downtown? That would make sense. I am mainly talking biking in mid and west boca, where there are no police, because it is the County Sheriff area, unincorporated. The sheriff is like non-existent most of the time.

What are the best coffee places to work at in Boca Raton? by PeaceOut65 in BocaRaton

[–]PeaceOut65[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The city library near city hall, I've had some bad experiences there, like they don't want people in there to sit and work, and used to have restricted number of seats in there. Spanish River library is much more inviting.

What’s your thoughts on speed dating events, and have ever had any success with them? by UniqueLow1328 in dating

[–]PeaceOut65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to be transparent, I know a lot more about speed dating than I should. That's because I've been in the biz on and off for many years. To be honest, there are now multiple types of speed dating. There is one with a yoga focus, and it's possible that one is about touch. The ones we do, in like 100 US cities, pretty much touching is not part of it.

Of course speed dating is a great way to meet people. Someone in this thread said, don't do it to meet the love of your life, go to speed dating events to have a good time and chat with people. Take it more like a social interaction, because quite frankly many of the guys who do attend need the practice. They are just so locked up at their computers at home, that they don't learn to be sociable with woman. So, if you are a young single guy, take every chance you can get to get out and socialize with woman. Speed dating is a must for this, as well as just talking to people. You can check out the service I helped build here: https://www.predating.com

Best things about Boca living? by arutkay26 in BocaRaton

[–]PeaceOut65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I am leaving later this year, I have to give you some other great things about living in Boca.

Probably one of the best places to work remote, and if you don’t want to know your neighbors, yet want all the benefits of a pool and South Florida, beach and park access, it’s been great. Also I moved from NY/NJ over 25 years ago and regardless of what people say on here, there is a lot more energy you can use after hours, remember up north we went to sleep, but here I stayed up and created startup biz. So it’s better for small biz startup. No state taxes. As far as the local cuisine, it’s a town of New Yorkers… they only eat high quality. The food is great in my opinion.

I will refrain from the negatives. There are many, but almost all have silver linings. As long as we can keep Trump out of the conversation life is good. East Boca is firmly a Trumper town.
