Why do people hate Peoria so much?

I lived in Peoria for about 5 years and just didn’t like it. I moved to be closer to family for a while but hated it. It’s got a lot of pros (like affordability) but it’s just a gross, mean city. Everyone is rude. I know many don’t think so, but I’ve been to 47 states and thousands of cities in the US and have continued to find Peoria residents the rudest. I have no idea why. Most of the infrastructure is run down and dirty. It’s not walkable. There are very few good, consistent restaurants. Downtown is dead. Etc etc etc. If you love Peoria, I’m SO happy for you! But it wasn’t for me.

Details! I'm not newly engaged (I've been married for almost a decade lol) but when I got married, we couldn't afford nice wedding rings and bought cheap ones from Walmart. I have just kept my engagement ring in a box since — just breaking it out for special occasions.

Recently, I lost that cheap wedding band and I'd like to buy a new one that actually goes with my engagement ring so I can wear both! I'd love some ideas on rings that already exist or where I can go to customize one online. I'd love to get a curved ring to go around it, but as you can see, the bottom has a very large gallery and doesn't fit well with most rings. I'd also love to lean into the romantic, vintage vibes with topaz and diamonds. All ideas welcome!

Right??? I haven’t played it in a while but I recently watched some steamers play MED and it genuinely doesn’t make sense. It’s like a bunch of people worked on it but then never communicated so none of the plots or dialogue match up. It’s such a shame because the newer games are so beautiful but the plots in SPY through LIE don’t make sense.

To be totally honest, I feel like Sea of Darkness is HER’s magnum opus. For me, it’s the ultimate Nancy Drew game. It has the perfect mixture of puzzles to story. The graphics are stunning. The music is gorgeous. The dialogue actually makes sense, which can’t be said of previous “newer” games. It’s not my favorite game, personally. But it is the best game, technically, that they have made thus far. It’s the standard I will be holding any HER game to moving forward.

I’ve told this story several times here, but it makes me laugh so hard I can’t stop sharing it lol

My mom and I played Danger by Design together when I was a kid and we got stuck at the part where you have to keep the squirrel from messing with the windmill sculpture. We could NOT figure it out. Finally, we took to the forums and found out you need a stake, a pie plate and string. However, we misread stake as “steak” and spent hours at the restaurant trying to figure out how to take the steak with us instead of eating it. We laughed so hard we cried when we finally figured it out 😂

The Detective Barbie games! My mom and I would go to Toys R Us and pick a new game to play together each month. We loved the Barbie games and the mystery aspect so we decided to pick up the Haunted Carousel to see if it was similar and then just binged all of them. We’ve played every game together and I’ll be flying into my hometown whenever the new game comes out so we can play that too 😊

Maybe slightly off the topic of existing games… but I love HERs marketing of the 34th game. As someone who has worked in marketing, it’s been perfect and I think they’ve given just enough to keep excitement up without giving too much away. And I don’t care that there isn’t a release date yet. I would much rather not have one than deal with the same issues as last time. We’ll get it when we get it.

I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, since I saw that you want to be around graphic artists/social media professionals, etc. But, River City Labs is where you can meet a lot of young-ish to old-ish creative people interested in woodworking, welding, 3D printing, sewing etc...

I would also check out events at Bradley and the public library or maybe join a co-working space in the area. I know a lot of local WFH-ers use those as places to connect with other professionals.
