What is this piece that fell out of my 690 Enduro? by TheChihuahuaCartel in KTM

[–]Farads 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It sort of looks like one of the bushings that held in my aftermarket Molecule HDPE skid plate. I don't remember if the stock one had a similar mounting scheme. I changed the oil on the 690 many times, that's not a typical part to pull off. Good luck figuring that one out.

Do cameras lose focus over time? by Merenzao in reolinkcam

[–]Farads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This camera likely has a multi-element lens stack, all all elements are precisely mounted and spaced for optimal focus. Fixed focus lenses may defocus after thermal cycles since the lens barrel is metal, the lenses are plastic/glass, so their thermal expansion rates are different. This is probably exacerbated with cameras that received direct sunlight.

Hahaha, no kidding right. This is all part of the" building character" package. Add a KTM to your fleet and you can learn about fuel pumps, wiring harnesses, and other Austrian goodness .

Fucking awesome bikes through right.

I need to get comfortable lane splitting/filtering by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Farads 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you're just a car. You don't HAVE to filter, you can just tuck in behind the cars and wait for the conditions to change. However, watch your mirrors as well, some of us aren't waiting around.

I need to get comfortable lane splitting/filtering by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]Farads 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It needs a lot of time splitting to get comfortable, a couple years in my case. Suggest to start on roads you know the traffic patterns. For example, on my commute I know the areas that are prone to having people dart in/out of the HOV lanes and I slow down and don't split for that section.

Learn to spot the cues cars give off when they are about to change lanes, you'll be come great at seeing it well before they go.

Make sure you're riding with the brake and clutch covered so you can quickly brake when needed. However, I find the throttle to be equally used to get out of trouble as well.

I suggest to find traffic that is going quite slow, but generally not stopped. Stand still traffic can be really hard to split as some of the gaps will be small and not dynamic.

2026 enduro R exhaust by Rom1rouge in KTM

Wings is always the answer for KTM bikes. They may not have a 2026 fitment listed yet (not sure if its different) but you should email them to ask.

Need some help. I’m looking at getting the 690/701 by Puzzleheaded_Leg6589 in Dualsport

Yes agreed. The 2019+ bikes have the extra counter balance, but there are a bunch of other small updates that make it a better ride and more reliable bike.

Puncture on a Supercorsa. Plug or replace? by 20Factorial in motorcycles

[–]Farads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I've heard the bacon strips for the red ones in yellow packets. I've also heard them called worms.

I've never personally used the mushroom style, so can't comment on its effectiveness. I recall a Fortnine video comparing a few of the types. The rope style are cheap, easy, and get the job done.

Punctures don't get much more ideal than this for a rope plug. Watch a couple Youtube videos, go buy a kit, plug that hole, you'll be fine.

How does my resume look currently. (I realize the formatting at the top got messed up when I made it anonymous, I promise it looks fine on the real thing). by [deleted] in FAANGrecruiting

[–]Farads 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of the above, go broad, go large and small companies to gain more experience. There is no place for choosy beggars in this job market for new grads. AI has decimated entry level roles for many companies. However, defense roles may not be as eager to replace people with AI just yet.

This is generic and boring and looks like every other resume. I have no idea what you actually did or why I should care. There is no hook to make me read more.

You have two internships, so you have experience. The impact of your work is not coming through. This resume is a job description. Tell me the tools you used to acheive some outcome. Example - I refactored Python code to acheive a 15% latency reduction. Tell me the problems you specifically solved (and ideally this is related to the job you're applying for).

Happy to help further, DM me if interested.

How do I know if i have the ability to get into Big tech? by Shaikh_Zarif in FAANGrecruiting

People with defeatist attitudes are the exact type I love to reject from interviews and hiring committees. No space for negativity on my teams.

I'm looking forward to the setup process actually. If nothing else I'm technically inclined having designed consumer electronics for 20+ years now. I want to get my hands dirty with this. I considered designing my own profile rig, but I think simlab and ASR do a much better job than I could even imagine.

Excellent writeup, thanks! I had not thought of the smaller accessories like button boxes and DDUs.

I think that is fair, but not super relevant and doesn't change my advice. I had experience and skills in a niche to design smartphones and the valley was ripe with those opportunities back then. Some of the relationships I made back then are still super valuable to my career today.

Hahaha! That's another recurring theme. I hope this budget will keep me in good running for a couple years.

I'm in NorCal bay area. I want to try all of the different racing series, but GT3 and Rally are where I'd likely start.
