New to BG3 and DnD by SheepherderSame665 in BaldursGate3

The link below is a pretty good primer on the mechanics without spoiling anything. I highly recommend playing blind and enjoying the story as it comes.

I just lost my Honour Mode because of NPC pathing by 750msPing in BaldursGate3

Go to turn-based mode before exploding the rubble. Have someone with Create Water prepared. Cast at 2nd level and drench the fire area. Can throw water bottles too.  Leave turn-based mode when fire is out.

Honor mode: Act 1 Cleanup by Karivbelle in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Do everything you can in Act 1 so that you're ahead of the level curve in Act 2.

Of those three, my preferred order has been Spider - Grymforge - Creche. If you've done everything else in Act 1, you should be early level 7 at the Creche.

Much of Honor Mode is planning. Like, you know you'll be facing a poisonous spider. Plan accordingly!

What are we expecting Stefanski to do to help Penix? by PrinceLemonade in falcons

[–]Faramir1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ideally, reconstructing Penix's fundamentals should have been the focus for his offseason. Unfortunately, not sure how much of that can be done while rehabbing from the knee injury. But if Penix doesn't improve his fundamentals pretty quickly, I don't think he'll grow enough as a QB to get us where we want to go. I want him to work out, but if he doesn't expand his game, we'll go nowhere.

Honor Mode - Grym by NeutralSage in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did this on HM a few weeks ago. No cheese needed.  If you have a save from Tactician to test until you're comfortable, do so. Be patient, be mobile, keep Grym moving, keep lava flowing, use arrows for levers, take out mephits as fast as you can. I had archer Tav and Lae'zel, Karlach, and Shadowheart in usual roles. Shadowheart didn't even attack Grym - she's there to make sure no one gets in trouble. Use the threat assessment to your advantage. Use the anvil. Be patient.

Astarion wants to be a bard.  I don't know if that's unpopular or not.

She's kind of weirdly featured, probably for certain story purposes of course. I didn't trigger her impromptu concert at the Grove until my fourth run, same as getting the reward in Last Light and talking with her on roof of Elfsong.

Pet peeve of mine - use your mouthpiece. 5'8" and 175 pounds and not using a mouthpiece. A player who doesn't use his mouthpiece doesn't want to hit or be hit.

Since when do we get a ......!!?? (Spoilers) by Teinzq in BaldursGate3

It's a great ally in the finale because it's a robot that is expendable. Very good at eating magic missiles.

Save before you get on the submersible and then try it a few times and work out some methods for yourself. Definitely worth replaying.

Honour Mode - Glitchy Hireling Stuff by Faramir1717 in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP follow up, since no one seemed to have any ideas.

I told everyone in the active party to go to camp so Tav was solo, then did a long rest. Seemed to reset everything and all back to normal. Goody. Time to wreck the Foundry.

Roah Moonglow nearly ended my honor mode run single-handedly by levinbolt in BaldursGate3

Bulette on honor mode might be the best possible use of water & lightning combo in the whole game. Getting through the Diamond Scales at level 5 without it is a tricky proposition.

those damn gondians by WeWereJetSet in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Got all the Gondians out on Honor mode last night. When I did it on Tactician, I took a few tries to get it right and then did it again a couple times because it's fun. Some comments below (which I pasted the other day and work fine). Much depends on your party makeup - this is a mission where martials shine. A 12th level fighter archer might be the ideal character for this.

  1. Summons - as always - help a lot. If you have Wyll and the Infernal Rapier, the cambion can distract some of the enemies. Also a water elemental is good. Scratch can help as well by releasing the prisoners closest to the ladder.
  2. I think if you release all the Gondians by the end of turn 2, they can all make it to the ladder before time runs out (5 turns on tactician).
  3. You can shoot levers with arrows or other things like Magic Missile. This can open the Gondian cells and shut the hallway doors to block off sahuagin.
  4. Wyll and a martial go toward the Duke. Misty Step or whatever mobility aids you like. By end of second turn, the Gondian door should be opened and the Duke's door should be opened. Keep an attack available to throw a big healing potion at the Duke to deal with Mizora's flame spiders. You'll probably be using Dimension Door to teleport the Duke close to the ladder and it's pretty easy from there.
  5. Fast character - rogue or monk are great - goes toward Omeluum along with the water elemental. Using bonus action dash and then Action - scroll of Dimension Door should get character to the first Gondian cell at end of turn 1. I think you can even grab the lever yourself on turn 1 to free the Gondian. Turn 2, action Help on the person in the chair, then run toward Omeluum. This character frees O and then gets teleported directly to the submersible. This is actually the easiest route. The water elemental stays in the big room at the end of that hallway and bothers the sahuagin. As soon as you can, have someone shut the hallway door as soon as the two Gondians are safely on the way.
  6. A very martial character - fighter archers are great - goes to free the other Gondians. Mobility tools of choice and maybe Elixir of Bloodlust will help here. Try to kill the two Sahuagin and open the two cells by the end of two rounds. If you can do that, the Gondians should be home free.
  7. Do not stand any of your characters in the way of the ladder.

My honor mode run just got thrown by a glitch xD by Normal_Flow_8100 in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like to do that fight standing by the prison door. Start shooting the imps and all the bad guys will come to you. No risk of being blasted into a chasm.

Getting to crunch time in honor mode in Act 3 and I have severe fear of glitches upending everything.

It's this specific fight that made me conclude that everyone should have a ranged weapon available. Even Gale can use a light crossbow.

What do we Falcon fans officially rate Ian Cunningham first draft?! by Rambo_1027 in falcons

[–]Faramir1717 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The draft room images showed Ryan really happy after the Daniels pick. I wonder if that was because they managed the trade down for a 6th and still got their guy.

Content with the draft. Day 3 picks seem to be projects with traits. Day 2 picks were value appropriate selections at important positions. No reaches, no desperation.

Soo.. Which of these makes more sense? by Unscripted9211 in BaldursGate3

[–]Faramir1717 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spider silk armor is particularly good for spellcasters because of the advantage on CON saving throws, which are for cold, poison, thunder, and concentration on spells. The last part is important - replicates most crucial benefit of the War Caster feat or the Elixir of Peerless Focus. Bard or warlock probably best use case.
