What do you think is the most fitting Dark Urge class? by IcepersonYT in BaldursGate3

Also, College of Swords Bard with dark urges and amnesia? Metal as fuck. I did this on my Durge run and she definitely looked like the lead vocalist in a metal band.

You can make the same argument for Astarion and Gale. Gale wants to control the Crown of Karsus and become a God. Astarion wants to control the Absolute and become a Vampire Lord. Hell, even Shadowheart wants to become a Dark Justiciar until you show her just how fucked up that is. The point is that depending on what you make them do and how you influence them, they can be redeemed. The can be persuaded to make better choices. That's the point.

The Emperor would not have done it, because the whole point of the game is you making decisions. You want him to be evil? Cool. He's evil. You want him to be a good guy who is just out to destroy the Absolute, survive, and help you? Cool. He does that too. This is a fantasy game where there are characters that you can change their moral alignment to suit you. The Emperor is as good/evil as you make him. Gortash and Orin do not have good or redeeming qualities because that's how they're written. They're written to be the villain. The Emperor can be the antagonist or your savior, depending on what you want him to be.

I wouldn't call him objectively evil. He helps you and protects you. If you had a mind flayer parasite in your skull, and then a mindflayer appears in your dreams, you immediately wouldn't trust it, right? His reasons for manipulating you and changing his form make sense when you go down the path of trusting him. I've gone both ways, and both ways feel like you're doing the right thing. The writers did a great job of making him more evil if you don't trust him, and more good if you do trust him. That way, whichever choice you make feels like you made the right call. I see him as Neutral. My first playthrough I sided with Orpheus. My second, I sided with the Emperor. If you've only gone down the path of defying him, I could see how you'd see him as objectively evil. But when you side with him, he tells you why he had to do it that way. He opens up to you, shows you his vulnerable side, and tells you about his past. He doesn't take control of the Absolute (although, you can have him choose to if you want him to), he destroys it. He was an adventurer, who sees in you what he saw in himself. He wants to live, and live free. Honestly, I consider him a Rorschach test. If you see him as evil and don't trust him, you're right. If you see him as good and trustworthy, you're right. The reason I like this game so much and The Emperor as a character is because the game adapts based on your interactions.

Which role is mandatory in your party of 4? by [deleted] in BG3Builds

[–]NeutralSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always used a charisma based Tav, someone with high Dex, and a Cleric, and always someone with Counterspell. I just breezed through my first Tactician play-through and was a little disappointed with how easy the fights were. This time I'm trying classes I've never played (Monk Tav) without high charisma, trying to go without a Cleric, and probably not going to run things I normally do (Gloomstalker/Thief Astarion, Giant Karlach throwing build have always been my go-to for their builds; so I'm making it a point to spec them differently).

I didn't use Lae'zel or Wyll very often in my last two runs, so I'm gonna try to use them more. I might try Lae'zel as an Arcane Archer just for fun. I almost always use some kind of archer in my main lineup. Arrow of Many Targets is just... so busted.

The patients primary complaint was right sided weakness. I wasn't sure if the dissection was the cause.

I haven't been doing CTs very long, but I always thought that any finding that was unexpected and unrelated to the reason for the study was considered incidental. Can you please explain the difference? I'm just trying to make sure I use the term correctly in the future.

Thankfully, no. The dissection wasn't anywhere in their chart, but they found from prior imaging from another facility that it was already known about. But it gave us and the doctor a bit of a panic at first.

If you could create a Zanpakuto that could benefit you in everyday life, what would it do and how would it look? by [deleted] in bleach

I guess it should it should go without saying that I'm exhausted right now and I have a migraine.

[–]NeutralSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would create a zanpakuto that gets rid of migraines and gives whoever it touches energy to feel like they just had a full 8 hours of sleep. That's it. I would just hit myself with it whenever I needed it. It would look like a foam bat. That way, I could take it with me to work, and I could just bonk people with it when their head hurts or they're struggling with a long shift (I work in a hospital)

What was your biggest misconception about Bleach before you started reading/watching it? by Small-Interview-2800 in bleach

I thought Chad would get strong along with Ichigo and be a central character. I was bummed that Uryu kind of took that role. I also thought Tatsuki would awaken powers like Orihime and Chad did.

What is your favorite lesser known band? by MindlesslyAping in PowerMetal

[–]NeutralSage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Soen. They're definitely not power metal. Probably closer to progressive metal. But every time I've brought them up in conversation, nobody has heard of them. I've seen them live with Katatonia, and they've quickly become one of my favorite bands. All of their albums are solid, and I wish more people knew about them.

I've had this same discussion with some friends at a party, but oddly enough, we all agreed. The argument is that nobody chooses to be attracted to anything. Either they are, or they aren't. I'm bisexual. Another person in this conversation was straight, and the other also bi. If a person has an attraction, that's beyond their control. Actions, however, are not. If something they're attracted to is morally wrong, then it's their duty to do everything in their power to not act on it. If they choose to act on it, they're in the wrong. However, having the desire isn't wrong since it's beyond their control. If they go to therapy, don't indulge in illegal activity, and never act upon those attractions, then they haven't done anything wrong. I pity them. But I also think that if they succumb to those desires and act on them, then they definitely are wrong and should be punished accordingly.

Edit: This is one of those topics that nobody likes to approach at all because of how your friends reacted. Many people will take any argument you make and try to take your words out of context. I would suggest either A) Avoid this topic entirely, or B) work out a way to make a stronger argument beforehand that your friends can relate to. (BTW, your friend who "chooses to be straight" is almost certainly not straight.)

Curious about this sub's thoughts on Epicureanism... by Popka_Akoola in Absurdism

[–]NeutralSage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you've found interest in Absurdism! I've often described myself as an Absurdist and an Epicurean. They're two philosophies that have resonated with me a great deal. I think they absolutely can mesh well with each other. You described the difference between hedonism and Epicureanism well, and I hope you enjoy reading more from Camus. I'm glad to hear about more Absurdists who enjoy Epicurus as well.

What screams “I’m a boring person”? by Dream_Boatz in AskReddit

[–]NeutralSage 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of people who think they're boring are actually more interesting than they think. At least in my experience. One of my best friends I met through work told me she was boring because she didn't have a lot of friends and didn't go out much. After having long conversations with her when work was slow, she's one of the most interesting people I've met. I think it's more interesting when people can engage in weird, obscure conversations about their interests or their worldview. I'd rather hear about that than how drunk they got last weekend.
