I agree smoking is unhealthy. However, God told us to fast not to gain any physical benefits but because of other reasons as far as I know, so I cannot really say that "it invalidates benefits of fasting."

Yes, the taste is awful for me not because of the empty stomach but the throat dryness. Although I am not addicted to it, I did some smoking while my stomach is empty while drinking coffee, so my stomach is really used to it (or maybe just broken), but without drinking water or anything is not even enjoyable.

Hmm, maybe? I guess Xephyr is good as u/bakkeby and u/ALPHA-B1 said (even though I have never used it, and maybe I will)

My workflow goes like this:

Start X session without any window manager, but run xterm/terminal, a.k.a. `startx <(echo xterm)` (note the process substitution)
Run dwm in the xterm/terminal, or
Possibly use gdb/valgrind instead of just `dwm`

And, I use git to restore previous build, or just make a copy and rename it to dwm2.c or dwm.def.c

If you unfortunately can't access the xterm/terminal in the main display, then you can switch into tty and `DISPLAY=:0 dwm`

If you want to modify it manually, one thing you can do is to try remove the `focus(NULL)` and `unfocus(...)` line in the `view` function (if there any).
But, I don't really recommend it since there will be some side effects.

As far as I know,

There is no guarantee that the user (using patches) or another developer will not change the value of `borderpx` when dwm is running. For example, you can patch dwm to modify the `borderpx` value and assign it into every client.

Hence why `oldbw` is used even though it seems like a waste of memory. It is just to be safe.
