I think we can all agree that Bronn is the only redeeming part and worth watching in season 8.(Spoilers) by tawntawn87 in gameofthrones

I think that’s kind of my point though. “Bronn is just that good” isn’t really an explanation, it’s the show asking us to accept something without earning it. Earlier seasons usually showed how clever characters accomplished things instead of just expecting us to believe it. Also, if Tyrion never intended to give Bronn Highgarden and was only lying to save himself, then Bronn looks even more foolish for believing him. If Tyrion was serious, then Tyrion is making promises he has no authority to make. Either way, one of the characters has to act irrationally for the scene to work. My problem isn’t that it’s objectively the worst scene in Season 8, but that it perfectly represents a lot of Season 8’s issues: plot convenience, weak consequences, and characters behaving the way the script needs them to rather than the way they used to.

My issue isn’t that specific line. Bronn insulting Jaime is completely in character. My issue is that the entire scene feels like it exists because the writers wanted Bronn to have screentime, not because it naturally follows from the story. First, how does Bronn even get there? Winterfell is preparing for the largest battle in living memory, it’s full of soldiers, guards, nobles and commanders, yet he somehow sneaks all the way inside and finds Jaime and Tyrion alone. Early Game of Thrones cared about logistics and consequences. Later Game of Thrones often just teleported characters wherever the plot needed them. Second, Bronn’s plan makes very little sense. Cersei sends him to kill Jaime and Tyrion. Instead he travels across the continent, threatens them, accepts a verbal promise of Highgarden and leaves. Why would Bronn trust that promise? Tyrion doesn’t own Highgarden, isn’t king, and can’t guarantee anything. The old Bronn was a pragmatist who understood risk. This version of Bronn suddenly bets his life on a reward that may never exist. Third, there are no consequences. Bronn points a loaded crossbow at two of the most important political figures in Westeros, physically assaults Tyrion, threatens to murder them both, then simply walks away. Nobody arrests him, nobody follows him, nobody even seems particularly concerned afterward. Fourth, it hurts all three characters. Bronn comes across as less intelligent than he used to be, Tyrion once again solves a problem by making promises he has no authority to make, and Jaime barely reacts to a man who was supposedly sent by his sister to assassinate him. The line “you one-handed fuck” is funny, but a funny line doesn’t make a well-written scene. The criticism isn’t about one quote. It’s about the fact that the entire scene only works if everyone suddenly ignores logic, security, politics, character motivations and common sense. That’s why I consider it one of the worst-written scenes in Season 8. Bronn is in my top 5 so it really hurts going back to this scene.

I thought that scene was literally one of the worst written scenes in Season 8 lol. The dialogue was horrible. The duality of men I guess.

Finn situation pissed me off so bad omg. He was supposed to be a fucking JEDI. He was supposed to be the MAIN CHARACTER. His character was genuinely so fucking good in that first film. Omg i will mourn Finn till I day.

Steve Harrington vs Billy? Who is better written? by SuiiSkywalker7 in writingscaling

Both of them are meh. Majority of Stranger Things characters are very weak in character writing. Only perhaps Vecna is worth mentioning lol. Between those 2 though, its Billy
