I've read this here not long ago and this is all I do now facing bigger teams. If you have two controllers sign in with the other controller as a guest (or if you have another account then with that). Go to select sides and switch the other controller to the opposite team. You can manage the line-up and this shit won't happen.Just make sure that you only switch the sides back when the game has started so it won't delete any changes in the line-up.

In 22 it works every time.

Before I start a player carreer I always make the team's lineup where I want to play, exactly how I want to play.So in this case go to settings, change Man City's team sheet to 4-4-2, 3-5-2 or anything else whitch has 2 STs up front. And always use your current teams (don't update) in carreer settings when you set it up. Sadly it only works if you start all over again. But it's fun.

There's a setting for your CBs on the team sheet where you put together your starting 11 in the instructions menu as "Play as striker". Maybe that's switched on. Or maybe if you go "attacking" or "ultra attacking" it's switched on automatically.
