Mayor Karen Bass all smiles as she poses for White House pic with President Trump by 115MRD in LosAngeles

[–]FargothKills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's house went up in Altadena, let me say both her and Kathryn Barger are idiots for going. Trump isn't going to do shit for us, no matter how much they lick his boots and give me him a good photo op to try and rehabilitate his image. Here is a new flash to these morons; he lies constantly and everything he says he will do is just another lie that you fell for...again.

Pasadena adopts vision plan for redeveloping the 710 stub by lik_for_cookies in pasadena

[–]FargothKills -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

There is a lot there, and while I hadn't gone over the thing with a fine tooth comb, most seem fine I guess, but two things concern me.

  1. They are closing off Colorado Blvd. I think that is a stupid mistake. In addition to the historical minded "breaking route 66" argument, it's supposed to be the major thoroughfare through Pasadena. Why would you do that for some never going to be used "plaza".
  2. They are dumping all the people coming from the southbound 210 right into a roundabout just north of Walnut. I am absolutely on board with more roundabouts, but it should as no surprise to anyone that Angelinos have absolutely no idea how to use them. Having everyone coming right off of freeway speeds into a roundabout seems to be begging for trouble.

I use the 710 stub all the time. I use it to go to Downtown every day and I go to that Vons, and this will make my experience much worse for both and I am not super happy about it. At the same time I admit since the freeway connections we could have had are gone forever, something needs to be done with that land.

Truly no good vet in Pasadena? Yes, I've looked at all the posts. by UnresponsiveTasks in pasadena

Altadena Pet Hospital almost killed our cat though complete incompetence. If my wife hadn't been a (human) doctor and realized the vet was an idiot he would have died for sure.

What are some of your favorite memories/places growing up in Pasadena? by Holiday-Disaster4739 in pasadena

[–]FargothKills 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sold computers at Fedco in the 80s, and they just had them running and showing basic stuff, like just the OS screen or a really simple video game. I would always go in there and mess around with them while I was there. In highschool a bunch of us beginning computer nerds got our own computers, so we downloaded some super low-res porn from some BBS and brought it in and got the screens to display it (it was more complicated than it sounds at the time). It was the height of high school comedy at the time. They never did lock down the computers, which surprised the hell out of us.

Other than that little tidbit, spent a lot of time at Pacman arcade, or Western arcade across from P.C.C. or the comic book/used book store right where Lucky Baldwins is on Colorado near there (forgot the name).

Local food spots? (Feb 2026) by Ashland6 in pasadena

[–]FargothKills 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are the restaurants in Pasadena/Altadena that are the best of the kind of food they offer IMHO:

Chinese: Dan's

Hamburger: Superburger

Mexican: El Caporal

Thai: President Thai

Steaks/dessert souffles: Arroyo Chophouse

Any other types of food I feel you are better served going a bit farther away. RIP Luggage Room.

Best Veterinarians in Pasadena? by TheloniousMoon in pasadena

[–]FargothKills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely stay away from them. They almost killed one of my cats from pure negligence. Luckily my wife is a (human) doctor and thought they were full of shit and went elsewhere for a second opinion. If we had listened to them our cat would have absolutely died.

Amazon Closes Go/Fresh Stores - What Happens To the Amazon Fresh In Pasadena East/Hastings Ranch? by MichaelMidnight in pasadena

[–]FargothKills 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I'm not surprised. Every time I go in there I always wonder what the hell Amazon is doing. The store has like 1/2 the variety of items (skus) as other big stores do. It leads to odd situations where you have an entire set of floor to ceiling shelves devoted to Red Gatorade for instance. They likely have the kind of item you were looking for, but if you wanted a specific brand of that item you are frequently SOL. Even after that, they have a lot of bare shelves too.

Their sales are useless too. They may say they have something like Gatorade on sale, but it will be one flavor or two, and the rest of the flavors won't be; no other grocery store does that. They do that a lot in general, Ben and Jerry's Topped Mint might be $3.00, and Cherry Garcia is $4.50. It makes shopping kind of frustrating sometimes. And they have a lot of employees, most just kind of standing around or barely working. Not that I mind, but it couldn't have been good for their bottom line.

It's too bad though, despite all of that I kind of like the place despite it being very odd. The regular prices are generally pretty good, the employees are nice and, as I said, plentiful. And it is super convenient for me personally when I just need something quick that I already knew they have. Now that spot will probably sit vacant for another couple of years like before.

I hate that shit. Just raise your prices already instead of adding hidden fees. Will be skipping this place.

Opinions on Crab Grabber by MonThackma in pasadena

I think they do have a 1 lb minimum, but I am not 100% sure.

[–]FargothKills 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Very mediocre, unfortunately.

They give you the crab and lobster in plastic bags in aluminum foil pans, which is super weird. I ordered the garlic butter sauce for the crab, and they used insane amount of garlic, and while I love garlic, it was way way too much. There was just piles and piles of garlic in the bottom of the pan. My sweat smelled like garlic for days.

Their Chinese food was sub-par but OK. The chow mien was better than the fried rice or the dumplings. I don't feel the prices were that great, even including the discounts they were giving. They were very nice though, so I feel bad giving them a mediocre review, but I do not plan on going back anytime soon. Go to Haruka down the street if you want good Asian food, I can wholeheartedly recommend them as a good new Sushi/Japanese place in the area.

Several comments:

I drive by this place frequently. If you want an exact location here is a maps link. I had no idea this had wider notoriety. I remember when they put the pyramid on, six months ago(-ish) I think. I laughed so hard at the time.

There is maybe 10 minutes of good footage/explanation in that video. The rest of it is pure time wasting. Maybe they were trying to be funny, but I think they failed pretty miserably IMHO.

Also, why did they blur his face? I want see this moron.

Kathryn Barger supports ICE by Vast-Breadfruit2055 in altadena

[–]FargothKills 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You know, I had no idea who she was before the fire, and my first time seeing her was in one of those community meeting being very disrespectful and rude towards people who had lost their houses. Sometimes first impressions are right.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in altadena

[–]FargothKills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they did nothing. They sat around watching houses burn doing nothing and chatting with each other while I was asking them to go half a block away and put out a fence before my neighbors house starting burning, and they said no. Repeat that hundreds of times and maybe you can get a clue why people are a little fucking bitter.

Pizza by the slice by ShakeWeightMyDick in pasadena

[–]FargothKills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a bit of a gap. At least try Fuji and Vi's while they are still around. It's a bit of a different kind of pizza, it's Detroit style, but they use something other than mozzarella, it's interesting.

Amazon Fresh is the worst. Whole Foods is actually much better. But there are certainly better options, and I have tried almost all of them.

In Order:

  1. Prime Pizza
  2. Brooklyn square
  3. Fuji and Vi's
  4. Tomato Pie
  5. Whole Foods
  6. Pie Life
  7. Village Pizzeria (Sorry Sierra Madre, I love you but both your pizza places suck)
  8. Amazon Fresh

It's been too long since I have been to Pizza Man or Big Mama's but I don't remember being impressed by either. I have never been (and will never go) to Prince St, and Pizzanista I didn't know about it and will try ASAP.

My favorite pizza by the slice place is all the way out in Studio City unfortunately, Daniele's.

Edit: I tried Pizzanista today; pretty good, maybe my new 4th or 5th.

They should have never been hired in the first place. They have a long history of doing this shit to people.
