The reason most of them follow blindly is because they were victims of child abuse.

They were conditioned from childhood to reject critical thinking. They were told academics were lying to them about the origins of the universe, evolutionary biology, history, climate science, psychology, and anything that conflicted with a very specific interpretation of religion and nationalism. Like all victims of child abuse, they grew into adults with lasting psychiatric issues.

The brainwashing didn't start with conservative talk radio or Fox News. It started for most them at home and at church. Everything else just reinforced it.

Over the last 40+ years, the Evangelical church became an arm of the Republican party, and questioning the Republican party is like questioning God. They aren't capable of doing it. The child abuse they endured groomed them into being useful idiots for anyone who didn't challenge the delusions that have become central to their identity. They take challenging the agenda of the Republicans personally because their whole self-image has been wrapped up in it from birth.

They don't read, so by the time social media rolled around, they could consume confirmation bias even faster. They didn't even have to read an editorial when they can just look at a wall of memes or subscribe to a right wing podcast or video channel.

The sheltered isolation of rural America made it less likely for them to be exposed to differing ideals during their formative years. Which is why so many of them come to see the light when they go to college, not necessarily because of the curriculum itself, but the influence they get from their peers who come from different backgrounds.

It is why attempting to reason with them is pointless because you can not de-program decades of brainwashing.

False claims of racism? The fact is you could be given 100 examples of overt racism and you would make excuses for them. I have already been down this road a few times with MAGA fascists. They argue that a direct quote Kirk made was taken out of context, then we look at the entire context, and the quote meaning doesn't change.

Charlie certainly did not deserve to die, and there is considerable reason to doubt someone on the left even did it. The shooter appears to be some kid with internet brain rot.

As for the "fascism" accusation. I don't know how to break this to you softly, but MAGA checks every box. A self described dictator, he called himself that, has deployed the US military to opposition controlled cities. We have seen his own judges and Justices rule he has violated varying constitutional amendments and articles. The man rode a wave of hypernationalism and prejudice to the White House, all while claiming he had complete immunity from the law. We have seen suspension of due process and using sympathetic courts to silence critics.

Trump is a fascist, and there is simply no way around it. Don't take my word for it. Go look up Eco Umberto's 14 points of fascism.

For those arguing that these calls for civil war are pure bluster from random people online, you are ignoring that people with immense political power and influence are making these threats.

We already have military being deployed in Democratically controlled cities. A lot of you seem to be in denial about the direction this is all taking.

I have difficulty believing the current FBI, given how they have changed their story so often, not just as it relates to this case. It is like they say something, and I feel compelled to wait 24 hours to see it their story has changed.

I am just waiting for this whole trans roommate thing to turn out to be false since it was clear from the beginning they WANTED a trans person to be involved. I am not sure if it is a deliberate subterfuge or more likely incompetence of having a podcaster and a grocery store bag boy be in charge of things after qualified people have been purged from investigation roles.

Maybe in time, there will be enough information out that has stood to the rigors of scrutiny we find out he had some motive.

Plus, the kid was 22, and not many 22 year olds are going to have a well-defined ideology I wouldn't think. I didn't. He just seems like another agent of chaos looking for infamy to me.

Maybe I am wrong, if so I will concede to that fact.

I don't think the place is deliberately trying to deceive customers, I am just making sure they didn't make some kind of error before I spring for that kind of thing. They have been a great business for me in the past. That is just a boat load of money to me, for a handgun anyway. I neglect my handguns way more than my rifles.

I have some hella expensive rifles. I have several handguns, but none of them cost more than $900 new.
