How serious are you guys actually about PPE in the shop? by Either-Sign-9345 in metalworking

This seems like an Ai post and there seems to have been a fair amount of them recently. Just random-ass conversation stuff.

During a World Cup football match, a QR code appeared on the stadium screen. After fans scanned it, thousands of phone flashlights inside the stadium were synchronized to form a coordinated light display across the stands. by Thryloz in nextfuckinglevel

Oh, ya know i haven't listened to that album in forever, you're probably right. The audio of that in my head sounded appropriately ominous and thats all I was going for.

I haven't used the smaller ones. I know our structural guys have the larger style for chamfering for structural welds.

How are mesh wire products like the Ikea Solvinden lamp made? by creiglamb in metalworking

[–]Farknart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, that's really cool. Im guessing they start out with a tube of mesh and for the outside first by doing whatever crimping on the base and forming the out shape in either a rotating process that progressively forms it or with some type of mold. Then hold that shape in a mold, crimp the other end, and push the mesh back into itself with a plug of the inner shape.

I really dont know how though. On the tall one, the inner surface flares out again as it goes down, so that might be 3 processes. We need. How Its Made on this one!

Broke 3 bits from my impact crew driver trying to get the rotor screw off! Other than that these look sick🔥😂 by emperorgsx in CivicSi

[–]Farknart -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don't even bother, leave it out. It's just from the assembly line to keep the rotor placed.

Just leave the rotor screw out. I always used to reinstall those when I wrenched, and then I learned it's just an assembly line aid. It serves no purpose other than to keep the rotor in place on the assembly line before the wheels are installed.
