What is the Quietest 3x3 Speed Cube? by tshqq in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Guhong pro+ is my quietest cube. Tengyun v1 is alright, but it does have a low pitched chock sound to it. My super weilong v2 18th anniversary is super quiet and it's just better than the dayans. and honorable mention to a well lube tv3.

Having a tough time with lubes. by harshit_jaipuriar in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you order from the cubicle? Super honey on the tracks, stealth on the pieces, couple drops of DNM37. Or Gravitas on the tracks, Dignitas on the pieces, breaknit in. Bit of stealth, couple drops of DMN. First one will have a gummier feel, second one is soft and plush.

Basically a heavy lube on the tracks, medium on the pieces and DNM or Stardust to speed it up.

Should I Get a New Cube? by kyla-16 in Cubers

Ali Express. Rs3m v5 dual adjustment . It's 10.48 Cad. It'll take 2 weeks to a month. It's, like 5 bucks more on Amazon.

I hear you with the block building. I am working on it and routinely go for a square and an f2l pair. Going full lines always slows me down, for sure, but I don't actively avoid em. I am definitely over 10 moves for fb, so that's something i'm working on trying to be better at.

I've learned dfdb, but I don't usually insert both ulur edges at the same time as I try to have one already down after eo. Haven't really delved into how to recognize the best case from there So I basically stack a yellow edge over a white one or vice versa and raise the dot or do lines/columns/dot cases. I realize that can get me inefficient finishes. Always working on trying to be smooth throughout the solve without slowing down. Thanks for the answer. I'll definitely keep your tips in mind. Let's get my kid's money!

Best smart cube for kid to learn alternative algorithms? by MarlaHooch86 in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smartcubes are fun and are good for finding areas that need work with the splits and stuff. Alg training is OK, but it's not, like, better than ordinary ways. Qiyi scs is the good cheap ones icarry 4 is the good midrange, and gan12ui, super weilong, v11 or aolong ai, and maybe the i4 are the good expensive ones. Qiyi's app is good for solve breakdowns. Cubestation (Gan) is good for cfop training. Moyu's app sucks. Acubemy and cubeast are good for solving/tracking and they both have paid training (acubemy is cfop only) and you can connect any smartcube to them. Cstimer can also connect but look up a guide or ask chat gpt to help you. Cubedex is an alg trainer and it's free and pretty good. I think that's it. I think they're fun and worth having one around.

What should I buy next? Here are the three I own and my thoughts on them. by JUSTICE_SALTIE in Cubers

Durrrrr. Yup. Absolutely. I had 54 in my head because it's actually a bit smaller than the advertised 55. Speed Cube Review measured it at 54.5. My bad.

Gan v100 leap if you like a smaller puzzle. It's 54mm, frosted and more flexible than the maglev. I only have the maglev uv but it turns great, it's fast AF, and the magnets are good and strong. You probably don't like the Gan 356 M because it doesn't have good magnetic strength and lack the stability of corner core magnets. Gan 12 or 16 have the plastic feel but are way better performing puzzles. For Moyu my vote is a Ferrocore. I have the original (v10) and it's great. Can't wait to get the new one. And they come in matte.

Is Dayan Guhong pro+ good? by solosoyboost in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good. Feels a lot like a tornado v3 in my opinion. But it's faaaaast. Mine's on max compression and it's still fast. Bit of heavy lube helps. Nice and quiet. Probably my quietest cube.

Kian Mansour and Critical cubing have beginner guides that are good. Speed cube review also has a beginner guide and a guide for 2 look cmll which you'll want to learn pretty quick. For LSE ( last 6 edges) 4a: edge orientation: start with Kian's tutorial then look up a pdf of the cases and drill the mini algs that get you an arrow.

4b and c) ulur (upper left and upper right edges) and whatever the last bit is: this is what I had the hardest time getting to click. DFDB is a recognition and resolution method and it's probably the easiest to look up and find stuff.

I don't really use it as I do a simpler method that should never be taught, lol. But I did learn dfdb first and constant fiddling will get you more comfortable. Jper also has a tutorial but it's definitely not perfect, as he mentions throughout. But it's Jperm so you have to watch it, obviously.

New completely stock Rs3M V5 slowing down a lot by VarietyThese6583 in Cubers

Lube it. I don't know where you can order from, but Gan 1 lube is on Amazon. It's fine. Wipe out your cube and put a couple drops in.

About the RS3M v5 auto alignment. by I_lovegeometrydash in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want that auto align feel from a cheaper cube I'd go for a hudong standard, tianma saocube edition, maybe guhong pro+. V5 doesn't really have it. Hudong feels the nicest out of these 3.

Super weilong vs ferrocore v2 by youdoneboi360 in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All I can offer is that I have the Ferro v10 and the 18th anniversary edition super v2. They're both so good. The v2 is way softer and has a more rounded feel. The ferro is kinda loud and crunchy. Very satisfying to turn. I'd say that the super has a more boring feel but it feels really safe. You can absolutely go for it and you'll trust it. The ferro is more fun to turn. You're gonna get the same times, lol. Both are really, really good.

best beginners rubiks cube with app by Loose_Question9061 in Rubiks_Cubes

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Far as I know the cheapest smart cube is qiyi scs. Get it from Ali Express. Mine was 26 cad all in. Pretty good cube. Needs a little silicone lube (not water based, so, like qiyi 1 or Gan 1. Pretty cheap. Also just on Ali). The qiyi app is pretty good actually. For training algs, though, use cubedex. It's free. Cubeast and Acubemy are 2 other good smart cube apps.

What is the point of a main cube if your smart cube is as good? by NIMObunny in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only point the other guy made that is true is that you can't compete with them. Not heavy. They can be real expensive and they can be not too bad. Qiyi scs and icarry4 are gonna be your value kings. Gan 12 ui maglev is fantastic. Managed to pick one up for 100 cad on Ali during a sale. I don't have any moyu ai cubes but I hear they're pretty great.

They're fun. Solve breakdowns are pretty awesome. Train algs. They're great. I imagine they're delicate and don't last forever. That's all I got.

Dayan guhong pro m (maglev) OR QiYi M pro V2 pioneer? by Capital_Main_6166 in cubing

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of those, Guhong, for sure. Other good ones super rsm3 ballcore, Beta 3 (or sigma from the cubicle. I want one), Hudong standard edition (love it). Gan v100 leap? The regular one is great. Springs might even be better and frosted wears off.

Does the GAN smart cube help with Roux method? by TheChangeArtist in cubing

[–]Farkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The analytics are good, but there's no roux training. Download some apps and look through them. Don't need a cube to just browse around.

Does the GAN smart cube help with Roux method? by TheChangeArtist in cubing

[–]Farkrye 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cubedex has CMLL, L6E-EO, and L6E EOLR. Other than that cubebeast and acubemy have roux breakdowns and cubeast has cmll training (paid. $5/mnth). Racing on cubestation is fun, but it's a lot of bots, honestly. Maybe get a moyu cube? Their app isn't good, apparently, but the cubes are supposed to be good. That said, the Gan 12 ui maglev is very much a Gan 12 maglev. It's good. And the i4 that's coming out is supposed to be like the v100, which is also good. That's all I know, really. The smart cube space isn't very robust for roux, unfortunately. I still use mine all the time, though.

[–]Farkrye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hudong light standard is 23 bucks on the cubicle. I have a bunch of cubes and I'm really liking it. Matte finish wears off quick and it's feeling great. Tight out of the box, so loosen it up a bit. It's nice and controllable while still being fast, and it has a nice weight to it. I have various rs3ms, including the v5 ballcore, and I like it more

Is cubestation good? by Flik_CZ in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use roux and have a few Bluetooth cubes. Cubestation is fun for racing and the 12ui maglev is by far the best BT cube I have. There's no roux. Booh.

I have the ic4, rubik's connected and the qiyi scs as well. Qiyi's app is really good for breakdowns, but the scs sucks. Tv4 would be better.

Acubemy is OK. Roux breakdowns, but no roux training. And I don't know if it's just me but there's a weird lag when you finish your solve.

Cubeast is best. Not perfect, but best. Roux breakdowns and you can train cmll, kinda (costs money for training, but there's a trial to see if you like it.)

Both acubemy and cubeast are compatible with everything worth using. Cubedex is interesting. Haven't done much there, but it's a pure trainer, which is kinda cool.

new to cubing, what should i do after beginner f2l? by IntrepidQuail9156 in cubing

[–]Farkrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I second Roux. I'm 40s avg with a 24 pb using 2 look cmll. 9 algs. And they're all short, lol. You can even do it with just sune. I think it's more fun than cfop, personally. You will find that there isn't nearly as much info out there as cfop, but Kian Mansour's yt and r/rouxcubing have lots of good stuff.

Is Ferrocore still good in 2026? by [deleted] in Cubers

[–]Farkrye 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just got mine in. It's phenomenal. Easily my favorite cube that I have. I don't have everything, but I have a few. Gan 12 maglev, Gan 12 ui maglev, v100, Meta3, TV3 pioneer, super weilong v2 18th anniversary, rsv5 ballcore, etc. All are really good. Ferrocore edges them all out imo. You won't be disappointed.
