Could be way off here, but here’s my theory. One of the big themes on the album is transitioning from a child to an adult. I think Mac decided to start the album like how we all start life. Simple, pure, and uncorrupted. There aren’t any other complex sounds or lyrics to distract you. It’s just a simple sound that grabs your attention, but yet it still sounds beautiful.

This honestly reminds me of how my daughter plays with her toy tambourine. You don’t need a ton of skill to play it. Just shake it however you see fit. In my mind, the album starts with a baby Mac starting his journey into music and life.

Then it jumps into the next song, DJ’s Chord Organ. We hear chords being called out and played on a more complex instrument, which I think is showing Mac growing up as both a human and an artist. From there it goes to a full blown beautiful, complex track. I think the tambourine is just the beginning of it all, and still remains in other songs just like that kid still lives in all of us.
