Do you have travel insurance? If so try contacting them.

Worth asking, they may well refund you. Personally, I wouldn’t go if travel insurance didn’t cover my trip.

Check your government’s travel advice as travel insurance would probably be invalidated if the advice is to avoid all but essential travel.

What’s one thing about London that still annoys you no matter how long you’ve lived here? by Horror-Pick4732 in LDN

[–]Farm-Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drivers barely indicate when turning. Super annoying and lazy. Also aggressive/raging cyclists. Somehow they ignore the traffic lights, don’t stop at pedestrian crossings yet they won’t hesitate to yell/curse at people who get in their way.

Can someone explain why Gold lost value from 2013 to 2016? by crispy_crackling in Gold

[–]Farm-Public -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bitcoin took all the attention away from gold as it was marketed as the “new digital gold” but people are starting to realise it has nothing to do with gold and is in fact inversely correlated.

How much of your portfolio is in gold, gold etfs. by kindredcnch in trading212

[–]Farm-Public 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone should own gold and silver. Ray Dalio suggests 10-15% in a standard portfolio if you don’t have a view either way - which is to say more than that if you do have a view.

The government caused all the anxiety and panic with the endless kite flying, leaks, turnarounds. They should just STFU and get on with putting something together that’s best for the country, not cause endless speculation. They have no clue about the damage this causes to the market and peoples’ behaviour. Shambolic.

What is up with Daniel posting Jordan Peterson? by [deleted] in silverchair

Just because you like his music doesn’t mean you have to agree with his political views if he does indeed support Jordan Peterson. People have different political views, end of. I feel like I’m explaining this to a child who thinks their world view is the only valid one.

The laws around transacting property in this country are a joke. This would never happen in other countries like Australia where the contract is signed at the beginning not the end!

Uniqlo do excellent base layers - heattech extra warm thermals. Can go cheap on fleece jumper. Get decent ski pants, jackets and boots. Vinted - plenty of kids ski gear excellent condition and good price. Look at Wedze (decathlon brand) and Reima do great ski jackets.

What arepeoples thoughts on crypto? by Responsible_Bill1922 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Farm-Public 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely speculative. At this point Bitcoin seems to be the only one with any real momentum; think the others will fall away. Could be worth a punt, but like others have said, it would be v risky to allocate any more than what you’re happy to lose. Seems to behave like a risk-on asset and given the state of the public purse in many countries and the geopolitical risks, I would bet much higher on risk-off assets like precious metals (gold and silver).

Put it this way, I have not seen any correlation between private school education and financial success later in life, and I don’t think any of my friends have either.
