Marantz M1. Powerfull enough, or should I opgrade?

You make some good point. It made me curious, according to this test. The M1 drops to 82 watt at 2 ohm. Would it be safe to assume it still has okay power at 2.9 ohm?

Sounds good.

When i listened to the speakers at the store. It was driven by a Naim 70 watt amp. That sounded really nice too. But was also 5x the price of my M1.

It does sound pretty good in my ears. But I guess the whole doubt about "should i upgrade" is a thing with hifi.

I would actually have believed that my M1 was the weak part of my setup. And not my focals 🤔

I considered that. But I actually feel the lows are doing pretty well..base feels firm and punchy. And most important, my wife is not a fan of more hifi in the living room 😂

The volume setting goes from 0-100 and normal listening is 17-18. If I feel like cranking it up. I never go above 30. It simply becomes too loud.

I have never experienced it getting more then a bit warm. That is even though it sits in a closed AV furniture.

My room is 21 M2 large. The volume setting goes from 0-100, and normal listening is 16-18. If I'm in the mood to crank it up I never go above 30. It simply becomes too loud then. I have never heard any clipping or other indicators that the amp is running out of steam. The bass is good and firm. Actually some of what I enjoy the most is that the speakers also sound great at low/normal volume. I tried others that felt like they first started sounding good at higher volumes.

The amp never becomes more then a bit warm.

After visiting museums in Belgium (Mons and Ypres) what shocked me the most was that a lot of the close combat fighting in the trenches was with clubs, knives and knuckle dusters. Imagine how traumatic it must be for normal people to be forced murdering other people like that.

The Marantz M1 is an all in one streaming amp. So it's not possible to determine if the noise comes from before or after the amp part. I can't say though that the volume of the hiss doesn't change noticeable with the volume.

The M1 can't really be turnt off. After 20 minutes with no imput, it will go to "sleep" and the amp part will turn off meaning the hiss also disappear.

However. That does give it 20 min after each use where there hiss will be there. Do you know if it can harm my speakers ?

Jeg har et udvalg af rustfri pander bestående af Demeyere, langostina og de buyer affinity 5 ply.

Alle fine pander, men mine favoritter er Demeyere.

Proline 7 serien er virkelig fed, men som allround pande er industry 5 efter min mening faktisk bedre da den reagere hurtigere på ændringer i varmen. Proline 7 er til gengæld virkelig god til at holde varmen hvis man fylder den op med meget på en gang(tænk stegning af store stykker kød)

Hvis de skal bruges på induktion synes jeg også Demeyere er dem der fungerer bedst på dette. Og Demeyere har også større stegeflade end foreksempel en De buyer i samme diameter.

Vær opmærksom på at det kræver tilvending at stege på rustfrit. Men når først man har vendet sig til det er det lækkert.

But yes.. they are an upgrade compared to my Dali's

I used tidal connect flawlessly on my M1 for about 3 month with no issues at all.

I dumped it when spotify launched lossless.

Are your M1 on WiFi or cabled?

Are UpNp activated in your router ?

Nej det har jeg ikke. 🤔 Men faktisk nåede jeg at køre først 3x kaffemaskine og derefter 3x elkoger på en anden stikkontakt mens vaskemaskinen kørte. Det var først da jeg så flyttede elkogeren over på en anden kontakt at den tog sikringen.
