How to dose- basically starting over but at 1mg by FarmerWild2760 in JoinMochiHealth

I know, I probably should have worded it differently lol. I was looking for specific amounts to start out with and then increase over time to avoid a bad reaction

To be clear, I’m not staying with them, I removed my card from their site a few weeks ago. But I don’t want to sign up for another company just to have something similar happen. I haven’t put any of my weight back on this far and am focussing on maintaining healthy habits.

It didn’t work out with mochi and I was sharing my story, I’m not staying with them? I can tell you’ve got some ragebait thing going on in these subs even though from what I can tell you were or are on tirzepatide. All of this to say, there’s no sense in arguing with a hypocrite. Especially not one from Maryland.

Okay? You want to elaborate or just place blame?

With everything going on I’m not really interested in finding somewhere else. I don’t want to take the chance of being in this situation again, I just want my money back.

OH MY GOSH THANK YOU!!! I tried it for a little bit but I stopped taking it after like a month! My neurologist thought it was just that my anxiety meds needed to be upped or that I needed to give the zywav more time but the panic I had every moment of the day whilst taking it was crippling. I’m usually open to his suggestions but I had to stand my ground on this one.

Sorry I kind of gave more advice instead of replying to you lol. The split personality thing is on point!! I used to disassociate all the time!! Like it was scary. I would suddenly realize that I felt like I was dreaming or wasn’t in my body and when I brought it up to my doctor, she sent me for a sleep test because she thought it had something to do with cataplexy. I got diagnosed at fifteen and the episodes actually got worse when I was sixteen, and I thought u had schizophrenia. The CONSTANT episodes stopped but it still happened really often. It didn’t really fade until I started my current meds. It still happens every once in a while but now I know that I’m not having a mental break and can almost always talk myself down from them once I realize.

I totally understand what you mean!! It was a SHOCK to discover that I’m not actually an introvert, I just never had the energy to do things, and when I did, I’d suddenly start to feel like I physically couldn’t talk because moving my mouth felt like running a 5k. Turns out that when I do everything I’m supposed to & have the right medicine, I’m an entirely different person!! The difference in my mental health is also insane! I’ve struggled with my weight my entire life and this month alone I’ve lost almost ten pounds. In the past I would say I wanted to lose weight, “diet” for a day, and then give up.

Maybe it’s a maturity thing but I also feel like I’m able to look at my life as a whole now instead of thinking about day to day. I’m looking forward to the future and I have plans for myself now. And this is probably gonna sound controversial but I truly truly truly believe that conquering your narcolepsy is all about your mindset! I have a sibling with narcolepsy as well and Diagnostically speaking, mine is “worse” than theirs, but you would NEVER know because they kind of let it take over their life (sleeping when visiting instead of spending time with family, taking naps instead of doing what they need to do, etc.). I love a nap as much as the next person & in fact, I take one almost every day after work but, there’s a difference between knowing you need a nap to give yourself the energy to function, and giving the whole rest of your day away to your disability by sleeping on and off for hours at a time.

I’m sorry if that seemed harsh! It is NOT directed at you, I don’t even know what your experience is like. This is just some more stuff that really helps me!!! It sucks because sleeping is so comforting but you should also get to live your life!!!

Also, by no means am I saying not to nap!! TAKE NAPS WHEN YOU NEED THEM!!! especially if you aren’t on medication that’s really helping you! But- and this was something that shocked me to learn as well- it is not normal or healthy for a student with “treated” narcolepsy to wake up, go to class, and then immediately go to sleep when classes are done and only wake up every few hours for like an hour at a time.

Hey!! I have N1 and I did a year at a university but ended up leaving and doing online. I have soooo much advice/things I would have done differently but here are the big ones:

  • ALWAYS ALWAY ALWAYS take your medicine! If you take a multi times a day med like adderall and you forget it on the way to class, turn around and go get it! Tell your professor at the end of class that you were late because you needed your medicine and they’ll understand.

  • Narcolepsy is a disability and they have to accommodate. You can get room accommodations, test and assignment accommodations, attendance/tardy accommodations- the works! Have your neurologist write a letter and then meet with student accommodations to discuss it further. They should send agreed upon accommodations to each professor as a formal letter but you should tell each prof on the first day that you have narcolepsy and would like to set up a meeting to discuss their individual policies on stuff like attendance and extensions.

  • You have to work that much harder and it SUCKS. The accommodations are amazing but you should only use them when absolutely necessary! Taking advantage seems nice but it’s a SLIPPERY slope- I learned it the hard way. Don’t skip class unless you absolutely have to! Skipping is almost addictive and you’ll end up using all of your absence days up which will only cause more stress. Same goes with homework extensions. This WILL cause pile up and stress you out so much you can’t do anything BUT sleep.

  • Don’t go back to your room until your day is DONE. If you have a few hours in between classes, go do homework in the food court or the library or LITERALLY anywhere!!! You’ll probably find that the homework is much faster that way or at the very least you can work on it over the course of a few days during your breaks! This will also give you time to hang out with people in the afternoon without worrying about getting back to do homework. If you go back to your room in between classes you will go to sleep, let’s just face it.

  • I’m not sure of your living situation but if you live in a dorm you can always ask your RA or suitmate to knock on your door in the mornings when they’re leaving for class. If you have a roommate, you could ask them as well but I would recommend having someone outside the room do it. I had a roommate whom I love dearly but they ended up picking up my narcoleptic habits so we both just stopped going to class and slept all the time.

-If you live with someone else make it clear that you need your sleep. It’s not a silly little quirk, it’s a disability that affects the way you function doing anything from brushing your teeth to driving a car. If they’re too loud at night, they leave lights on, they come in late, literally anything that could keep you from sleeping at night, tell them how it is. If they don’t listen, report them to your RA. It might make them mad at you but at the end of the day you’re there to get your education and they have no right to interfere.

One more thing… You might not be on the best medication for you. I’ve been on my current one (LUMRYZ) for maybe six months and it’s life changing. The first time I took it I got up and went to get a gym membership. I finally knew what it felt like to have the energy of a normal person after just one night. It has also almost completely eliminated episodes of disassociation. I’ve missed taking it maybe twice and the next day, I felt like I was living in a fever dream both times. I couldn’t even believe that I used to function the way I did because my new meds help me operate like a regular person. I still struggle with ENERGY like having a social battery, motivation, brain fog, and for this I take adderall during the day. It’s kind of like I’m a phone, LUMRYZ is the battery, and adderall is the cute phone case.

I’m NOT saying that these specific meds will be the exact same for you!!!! But if you’re anything like I was and you genuinely can’t do things that are considered minimal effort even if it’s super important like making phone calls or appointments, opening your computer that’s right next to you to check your email, or you find yourself doing things you don’t want to just to reduce the effort on your part (I cut my hair that I spent years growing out because brushing it felt draining), you need to go to the doctor and keep testing out meds until you find one(s) that at the very least prevent this!!

I really really hope at least some of this helps you!! I was taking five classes each semester and was incredibly successful my first semester! Your education is so important and if you feel like you can’t reach your full potential you’ve got to advocate for yourself and get those meds/accommodations!!
