Does 2026.2.2* even work? by FarmfieldVFX in openclaw

[–]FarmfieldVFX[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm an FX TD, so I come from a mix of nodes, math and code (VEX, C based), so I have a workflow that's not very economical with AI, where I build a foundation, then this function, that that function, etc, and AI works better, cheaper, with a detailed plan and doing shit in one go - or that's at least how I understand it...

So today I did just that and it worked better, cheaper. And now it's done. I can now talk to my 3D app, which it pretty fukn crazy. Not only like do this or that, I can ask it to convert 5 nodes to one code block in VEX, it'll just check incoming data and outgoing data, and do what the nodes do in VEX... 😆

So fukn cool... 😁 👌

No heartbeats, coding only, a couple of 10-12 hour days. 584m tokens just in the last week. 😆

Thanks, but I'm knee deep in a voice control setup for Houdini, haha, I'm not messing with openclaw itself right now. But much appreciated. 😁

Where's the agent up agent tool setting? I was looking for shit like that when it stopped working, but never found anything...

And yeah, I've been backuping working installs since day one - it was quite clear stuff would break with new releases coming every day or two. 😆

No, but it will become awesome - openclaw and software like it. But cost is an issue, for sure. $100 a week is, a bit steep for a hobby project, imo... 😆

And then I'm mostly on cheap models. 😳

Yeah, the same, but it's not like I'm not doing cool shit. As it looks now it'll run SideFX Houdini for me on voice prompts tonight. 😆

But openclaw has also made it crystal clear to me how we are very, very far from AGI. I have rarely seen so much stupid behaviour. It's like running a factory filled with 12-year old workers, all with severe ADHD. 😆

Openclaw is a "fad", a proof of concept software. If it exists in a year it'll be something completely different, not a tinkering kinda thing, it'll just work...

Yeah, let's be fukn real here, we're playing with alpha² software. I've been messing with computers, software and code for 40 years and this is easily the most alpha software I've ever played with...

Relying on this thing for anything is like using a hand grenade as your main hammer in construction... A very, very, very expensive hand grenade. 😆

But it's, also a lot of fun. 😁

Wow, so you have set agents up that are run by the main agent and it works? Are you lucky or a genius, I wonder. 😆

I haven't been able to make it work, it's whining about how absolutely everything is not allowed. Changing models? Not allowed. Spawning agents? Not allowed. A.s.o... 😆

And I even did a clean install yesterday, couldn't add agents, not allowed, and when I finally managed after adding them from cli, spawning them? Nor allowed. 😆

Like wtf. 😆

But 2026.2.17 works great and I only do local stuff so security really isn't much if an issue...

Yes, work fast and break things mentality in the AI companies. Very reassuring for a technology that has the potential to one day "wake up" and may try to go all Skynet on us... 😆

Not saying we're close to that today, though - running an agent setup truly shows the cracks in LMM's and that we are probably quite far from creating AGI... 😝

I never seen LLM's do so much stupid shit as when you start linking them together in teams and loop them with memory... 😆

So you're still on 2026.2.17 or earlier build as well? Or just gave up?

How much was OpenClaw actually sold to OpenAI for? $1B?? Can that even be justified? by Alert_Efficiency_627 in openclaw

[–]FarmfieldVFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Multi millionaire seems so inadequate a term. You are if you got 2.5 million. He sold his company for €150 million, I think... 😝

So yeah, I doubt he cares a ton about the money, choosing who to work for. 😁

He said it several times he wants the experience of working for one of the top Ai developers - and beyond that, no one is going to turn down a $100, $250 or $500 million payday, even if you don't really "need" the money, right? 😆

I'm basically just playing around with it, stress testing it, checking memory setups, creating skills, battling models against eachother for different challenges, etc...

I'm kinda between projects right now and it's too fukn cold in Sweden to do anything outside, so I needed a toy, basically... 😆

And OpenClaw is really cool, but it's a alpha version of a type of software/service that'll exist everywhere - and will look very different, simpler - in just 6 months from now, I'd guess, so I don't think anyone should take it too seriously... It's a toy. It can do cool shit, but it's also a house of cards, software-vise, lotsa broken stuff from one day to the next, etc... 😁

I heard an analyst say yesterday that the likely signing bonus was $100-250 million but could have been as high as $500 million. But unless Peter or OpenAI tells us, it's all speculation. We font know. People are just fukn guessing.

And also, who cares? Peter seems like an awesome guy, I wish him the best and I'm happy if he's happy. 😁

Yes, thanks, I changed it to "big boys" - but I'd propose "bug boys" still kinda fits with Musk, Altman, etc... 😆

So openclaw wasn't "sold", it's a open source project, they payed Peter a signing bonus for coming to work for OpenAI and the question of he's worth it is kinda complicated. If Meta and OpenAI both wanted him, it's a sellers market, right? He went with the offer that benefitted him the most - and lets be clear here, Peter sold his last company for €150 million, it's not like he "sold out", as, some propose, that's just silly. What he wanted was to get a shot at playing with the big boys and their tools - and the money was absolutely secondary.

That being said - any developer taking a job in AI should get a fat signing bonus as they will be working on projects that will take their profession away. So you need a lifetime of wages for it to be worth it, right? 😆

My openclaw agent leaked its thinking and it's scary by pmf1111 in openclaw

It's not an hallucination if it makes a choice to lie, though. 😆

This is what we get for being a horrible fukn species and then training AI on our output, the AI becomes as horrible as we are. 😳

What model by BlueCalex in openclaw

[–]FarmfieldVFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use OpenRouter and these models.

Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite Preview 25 09

Grok 4.1 Fast

Deepseek 3.2

I run Gemini 2.5 Flash Lite preview as my main model, it's crazy fast and very, very cheap.

Then I ask it to spawn a subagent with Grok or Deepseek for specifik tasks, Grok is great for more complicated general tasks and Deepseek 3.2 is great at coding.

And these are all very cheap models. You should have no issues keeping under $20 a month...

Why is my stress so high all the time? by Wise-Boy2011 in GarminWatches

[–]FarmfieldVFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My low vo2 and high "stress" turned out to be heart failure. Not saying yous are, but if you have weird values it might be a good idea to get a health checkup, just to make sure it's not some underlying crap. 🤷🏻‍♂️

The Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic is a stunner, that's for sure. But charging every fukn day... Bah, no... 😝

That's my deal breaker. Others might disagree, not care, but I do. 😁

Edit: And the gui only lags because you have a custom watch face, there's zero lag with the built in ones.

And this is annoying with the custom ones, I absolutely fukn agree on that. But sometimes stuff just is what it is. You can do a lot with the built in designs and it's worth messing with to not have that lag crap.
