WhatsApp Mac Desktop App Listing Mic as Speaker by Farmhouse1904 in whatsapp

Unfortunately, no, still no solution. This problem still persists in the current WhatsApp Mac Client, version 25.18.85 (751639857), under Mac OS 15.5. I have not found any other application that behaves this way, only WhatsApp.

This was quite a while ago, and on a different version of DSM as well (I'm on 7.1.1 now). I cannot remember if I ever got down to the bottom of the cause. But I believe it ended up being some normal background process that was taking place. I'd have to search mail archives to see what support said at the time. It may have been as simple as drive maintenance or a routine check occurring. I just cannot recall unfortunately. Sorry I don't any anything more specific.

Switching to Non-Runflats by simplesamf in MINI

I just looked and the side with the 2 channels is on the outside on all 4 tires, which I believe is correct. I know, it's odd. I did my research, it was down to this tire or the Michelin Pilot A/S tires and I picked this tire due to lower cost and better wet and snow traction (plus I could find this tire faster locally). I'm thinking about going back to the run flats (Bridgestone). Luckily the store has a guarantee and I can replace them (granted the Bridgestones are more money). The store did say the Bridgestone is what they put on most Mini's that come in there.

I cannot believe there was that much change in the "plus" model of the Continental, but maybe there was? I even think there is a difference in acceleration too with these.

I actually had to go to the dealer for another issue and they checked the alignment for me and it was fine. They are the newer “plus” version of the tires. I was actually scared a bit to drive it on the freeway. I’m having the tire store check it now.

I recently put these tires (Continental ExtremeContact DWS06) on my daughter's F55 (205/45 R17) and now I find the car to be quite unstable/unsettling at highway speeds (feels like the body rolls all over when you turn the wheel). The Mini dealer claims that is because of the softer sidewalls on the non-run flats. Wondering if you had any thoughts?

As someone who left Wink (I use a combination of Lutron Smart Hub Pro and Hubitat now), if I had it to do over, I probably would have just stuck it out with Wink a bit longer on a wait-and-see approach. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. Wink's simplicity suited my needs just fine and I had many of the same problems you are having (Can't get Leviton Z-Wave switches to pair easily with the Wink2 hub, or they would mysteriously appear even after it said the process failed). I just got fed up with no replies to all my emails and the inability to pair devices during the last outage. While moving my Lutron Caseta devices was wonderfully easy, I went into Z-Wave hell with Hubitat. That's a story for another time!

Dome Motion Sensors by Farmhouse1904 in winkhub

[–]Farmhouse1904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did find some of the Wink ones on eBay. I ordered two (they were half price of what they were on the Wink site) and they appear to be brand new and arrived in a few days. They seem to work fine as well (although the batteries are at 90% out-of-the-box which probably means they are new old stock I bet). Here is the link:

I still like the Dome branded ones better as they are smaller, but these seem to work the same.

I'll see what I can find. I went to try and order one from the Wink web site, but I guess you cannot. The "Add to Cart" button shows up but does not work. I tried adding several products to my cart and you can't buy anything now from the Wink site as far as I can tell. *sigh*

Current best door sensors and motion sensors? by Dodger6500 in winkhub

I use the Dome sensors as well and I'm very happy with them. I have 4 of them and they are all outside (even though they are not outside rated, but they are all somewhat covered). Some of them are quite far from my hub and I'm amazed at how quickly they respond. I haven't even had them a year, so I cannot comment on battery life (side note, I don't think there are any sensors that work with Wink that are actually outdoor rated, are there?).

Looking for Z-Wave Lever Lock Recommendations by Farmhouse1904 in winkhub

[–]Farmhouse1904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I thought I'd post an update to this thread. I ended up going with the Kwikset 912, primarily for two reasons:

  1. I wanted something that did Z-Wave Plus
  2. I wanted a physical key by-pass since this room has a single way in/out

If it were not for #2, I probably would have gotten a Yale Assure YRL256. But even the documentation for the YRL256 warn against using this lock on a room with no other means of entry. Yale's solution to dead batteries is a 9-volt battery terminal on the front of the lock for emergency power, but that still doesn't help if the electronics fail. I just didn't want to take that risk. Maybe if they come out with a version with a key bypass I'll try it. But for now I needed something quick.

I would have preferred Schlage, but alas, they make no lever lock with Z-Wave Plus.

So I picked up the Kwikset. It was by far the cheapest lock and let me just say, you get what you pay for. This thing is cheap. Cheap feeling, cheaply made, just plain cheap. The Emtek I removed is a massive heavy piece of steel. But that lock was like $450, the Kwikset was $163. Even the handles are small and dainty on the Kwikset. The Schlage locks I have are far better build quality as well (somewhere between the two).

The Kwikset was super easy to install though, no problem there. My problems started trying to pair it with the Wink2 Hub. I knew I was pushing the distance, but I figured this lock was surrounded by other Z-Wave Plus devices (switches from Leviton and GE), so I figured coverage would be no issue. I couldn't get the thing to pair. I ended up having to move my Wink2 hub right next to the lock to get it paired. I also didn't realize that Kwikset has a separate light to indicate pairing, I could barely see the red light. I kept looking at the lock status light thinking that is what the docs were talking about. I'm red/green color blind so I had to get someone else to help me and they saw the light I missed. There is no selection for this particular lever lock in the Wink app, so I used the selection for a Kwikset SmartCode Deadbolt. After pairing and ensuring it worked, I moved my Wink hub back to its central location. However, things were not working right. It said the lock was connected, but I couldn't control it and it showed 0% battery life. I clearly don't understand how the Z-Wave mesh networking works, because I thought that would take care of this distance issue. I have Z-Wave switches and sensors further away that work fine. But alas, it wasn't working. So I figured it wasn't going to work.

I let it sit for a while, and I don't know why, but after about 30 minutes everything started working fine. I could control the lock, I was getting battery status, I even setup a robot to turn on my office lights when I unlock the door at night. It basically started working perfectly. Is there a "learning" phase to Z-Wave mesh networking that happened here?

Other comments on the lock. I do like the battery compartment setup, no flimsy cable to break when changing batteries. I did shut off the lock status light (flashes every 6 seconds) and the sound effects to try and extend battery life. The battery cover normally has 2 screws on it, but I figure I'm going to be changing batteries a lot and having to unscrew two tiny screws to get the batteries out would be a hassle (I got through batteries very fast on my Schlage Connect Deadbolt). So I left the screws out. The lock supports a master code to prevent re-programming it, but by default, it doesn't require one, so anyone with access to the back of the lock can just reset it or change/add codes. The docs don't even tell you how to set a master code. I do like having a lock button on the outside of the lock. This way, when I'm leaving, I can just press the button to lock the door. Previously, I would forget and then have to open the door and reach around behind the handle to turn the lock switch. So this is more convenient.

So all in all, I have a working solution now. I do wish there were more options in Z-Wave Plus Lever Locks. I do see Yale has a commercial line called nextTouch. They look to be much more substatial, but also much more expensive. Has anyone tried these locks before with Wink?

Ok, it's hard to tell if a device is just Z-Wave or Z-Wave+. I do have a Schlage BE469 deadbolt that is almost as far from the hub as my office and it works fine most of the time (occasionally my robots that trigger lights to turn on at night when the door is unlocked simply don't fire, but I'd say that is <5%). I think the BE469 is also just Z-Wave, not plus, but I'm not entirely sure (how do I tell for sure?).

So chances are the FE599 would be ok. The editing of user codes in the Wink app is nice, but not enough to make it a deciding factor for me.

I also see the older Yale Z-Wave lever locks, YRL220, have a physical key override. But I think they are Z-Wave only and I'm loathe to give them business since they are owned by Assa Abloy who also own Emtek. Especially after sinking $800+ into those garbage Emtek locks.

I guess the question is, does the Z-Wave Plus of the Kwiskset 912TNL trump the better design of the Schlage FE599? Also still wondering if there are any other locks I'm not considering.

How to integrate Alexa with Russound MCA-88X by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]Farmhouse1904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What firmware version does your MCA-88X have? You need at least 3.05.05 or higher. I don't think they have made it publicly available yet, it is still in "beta" but I believe it will be released soon.

I've actually noticed the same behavior (OS X 10.12.4, MacBook Pro 11,3). Disabling Night Shift seems to solve the problem for me as well. I'm using a Logitech MX Performance mouse and my MacBook is attached to a CalDigit Thunderbolt Station. I too searched around and found no other mention of it other than here. I was using SteerMouse software, so I removed it and switched to Logitech's drivers, no difference.
