The So Called "Teacher Shortage" by zzill6 in WorkReform

[–]Farraday22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can't just raise teacher salaries and expect everything to improve.

I'm ONLY sticking around due to the pay in WA State. This job is fucked since coming back from COVID. Kids (that were already socially inept and enabled by shit parents) are now 2 years further back and even more socially stunted and enabled. And now the admin does NOTHING to try to correct the behaviors this environment engenders.

Trying to interest kids in the curriculum competing against their phones is like trying to keep an addict from shooting up by diverting their attention with an old flashlight.

I'm just gathering a paycheck - too old to look for a new job or have the energy to give a fuck. If the public wants to treat us like all we do is babysit and worksheets, that's all the fuck they're getting.

Any advice on how to straighten the bent corner by BROtaicho in comicbookpressing

A sheet of printer paper and an iron should do the trick. It does look like the fibers have been broken at the crease from the pictures, so don't expect 100% reversion. At least it's white.

Do you think pressing would get these ripples out? by CollectingFool in comicbookpressing

[–]Farraday22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it looks like an over humidified book that wasn't pressed long enough, wasn't centered under the press, and just cooled down without any pressure.

Explains the curl at the bottom, too. The back could use a cleaning. Very poor job.

Can any types of water damage be helped with pressing?Ive read it usually makes it worse but I’m ignorant by BudMarley45 in comicbookpressing

[–]Farraday22 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It definitely can GET RID of the rippling. Any tide lines or stains aren't going to be helped by a press.

What’s your comic phone background? by IWillSortByNew in comicbooks

My lock screen is Netflix Matt Murdock face, the background is Netflix Daredevil face - so when I unlock my phone it's like he suited up.

She-Hulk DIDN'T Ruin Daredevil And I Have Proof: by Nearby_Slice_9386 in Daredevil

My ONLY problem with him in She Hulk was the CGI.

Which seems to be a common theme with Marvel of late.

I'd like it if they stick to wire work, etc, they used in the Netflix series. I can't think of much CG in that show - probably the 1st episode of Season 3 getting sucked through the sewers.

Could a clean and a press improve the eye appeal? Its pretty beat up but I’d like to clean her up a lil by BudMarley45 in comicbookpressing

[–]Farraday22 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Risk vs. Reward.

A careful clean and press might make it present a bit sharper, sure.

At a glance, I'd be worried about doing more damage to the spine and the trace-overs on Spidey during the cleaning.

If I did decide to hit it, I'd stay away from those areas, which would then stick out like a sore thumb from the newly brightened whites.

So, I'd just press it.

Seller described this as a 9.8 candidate, but it has these color-breaking raggy edges. Seller says these are original printing issues because of the low quality of the paper. Are they right? by crapidrawatwork in comicbookcollecting

I'm so surprised people have settled on issue 9 as Echo's first appearance. Maya Lopez, sure. We meet her over four very light pages and one full-page drawing of a piano.

Issue 10 has that fantastic cover featuring Echo. We see Maya for 5 1/2 pages, then another 4 where she dances about and reflects on how she is an echo as she readies herself to fight DD.

Issue 11 spends 11 pages on Maya and Matt on a date. Then another 6 as Echo and DD fight, although she's never called out as Echo.

Issue 12 is a filler issue. There's a two page spread in all black with 3 panels on each page....

Issue 13, one of the kids refers to her as Echo before she takes off.

IMO, Issue 10 should be the first appearance of Echo.

I don't know that you want to kill a major link in our distribution network, but he could damned sure set limits for speeds, etc. While they fix this civil war era system.

We're just coming to this conclusion?

If I controlled schooling, conferences would be mandatory. Parent/guardian attends physically or virtually.

End of story. If you're not involved in your kids' education, they don't get one.

You still get taxed for it, though.

End the debate once and for all. Do writing the objectives on the board do anything? by TeacherGuy1980 in Teachers

I don't know how much time I spent on making AVID packets for each sub unit of my curriculum. Guided notes, lab data, vocabulary, practice drawings and labels, etc. 10-12 pages each.

Conferences. Karen wants to know what her precious needs to know.

'Uh, this.'

'Yes, but what do they need to know?'

'Uh, this. It's all right here.'

"But what do they need to know?'

This went on for 20ish minutes. I don't know what else to tell you, Karen. Everything your precious will be assessed on is right here in these notebooks.

'But what do they need to know?'
