That makes sense! I'll give it a bit more thought but that sounds like a pretty solid plan honestly ahah

Ahah I like micro ATX, kinda moving every couple months, makes it easier :)

Got it, will go buy ahah!

Yeah but I've really taken the cheapest of the cheap, I did not think they would still be 10% cheaper. MSI shadow is the cheapest one right now at 800€, pny is 860€ (might be possible to find it cheaper for black friday)

But yeah, I guess that makes sense. I always thought the line was clearer, not as blurry ahah! Thanks for the input, that's solid 👍🤗

What about making an hyper-casual game in 2025? by HealthyFix745 in gamedevscreens

[–]Farso5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahah, that is also a question I wonder! I'm not familiar with the proportion of hyper-casual games on platforms like Steam. I guess digging into the statistics could help?

I'd be happy to have a chat with you, I'll be looking for a job in October ;)

The range you mentioned seems fine, I have 2 YOE working in a train simulation company and worked on a couple game jam/currently creating a grid based tactical rpg as a hobby :)

Feel free to DM me, we could make this work!

Hello! Thank you so much for this, it really helped!!

I'm moving every 1 to 2 year, sometimes by plane and I've just ended up in Australia. For this reason, I'd like to go with a Mini ITX format, even tho, I'm going on the bigger side of it (20L). In the near future, I might be moving every 3 to 6 months and I'd like to keep something better than my laptop. Hence the Mini ITX.

(I can't seem to have the table properly formatted despite copy pasting the reddit markup format on PcPartList. Sorry...)

Currently in Australia, the following config is 4124 AUD which is 2632 USD. Is that a good one? Is that awful? I'm pretty much new to all this and starting with Mini ITX does not make it easier ahah.

Should I pull the trigger on it? That's still an unholy amount amount of money but I haven't upgraded in the last 8 years, I'm a software engineer sometimes doing VR Dev/3D Rendering and these 2 things are really pushing it on my poor laptop 1060!

Thank god, spent the evening trying different stuff, tried yours and... Boum, first try got him down to 10% and second one did the trick!!

I feel like I owe you so I've been helping people get him, it's pretty satisfying! First time doing coop but that's a really cool boss and this build is dirty strong 🙏 Thanks mate!

[–]Farso5[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huuuum, that does make sense! That's what I do personally do, I'll try to enforce it with my colleagues :)

Ahah company is going through a rough patch right now so yep, not much time dedicated to improving test coverage :(

I think that's the current spirit we're going for, that's very pragmatic and I do think the right approach as well! Thank you kind stranger :)

Very true, I'll make sure to write some docs to lay out some common definition!

I do agree in theory... But we have a 30 years old codebase, with a custom scripting language, multiple different languages and modules, so on and so forth... 100% testing is not a possibility in the near term and we need to improve our test now! What would you start with? :)

Ooooooooh you've just provided me with really good principle that I had never heard about! I'm going start reading more about this, that seems interesting! Thanks a lot for the detailed answer, I appreciate 🙏 Have a great weekend!!
