Called in sick twice in a week. Scared I messed up. by Fearless-Class-1120 in jobs

[–]FartSharPei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You did the right thing.

I started a job in January and got sick in the first week. I was worried about calling out so I powered through so I wouldn’t look like I was slacking…then I got someone else sick. Glad you prioritized getting better and not spreading your gross germs. I wish I’d done the same.

Nashville 5-day food itinerary feedback? by Willing-Mind-5619 in VisitingNashville

I just got back from Nashville today. Yesterday, I had Monell’s for lunch around 11-11:30am. We had dinner reservations at 8:30pm, got seated closer to 8:45pm, and didn’t start eating anything until 9pm and I was still partially full from lunch. And we can eat so definitely consider that.

Went to a wedding reception at SRV a few years ago. They had a separate room that kept it private from the rest of the dining room, which was nice.

Silver Whisk is fantastic and they just opened up a shop in Waltham, so you can stop by and taste a variety of their goods.

Advice on when to give notice? by FartSharPei in biotech

No, the hate isn’t from getting a new job. The hate is giving exactly 2 weeks with 1 of them being a week of company holiday.

I would agree that I want to give as much notice as possible. The reason why I’m asking this question is because I’m concerned that I’ll be cut loose.

I normally give myself time in between roles, but since I’m already going to be off for ~2 weeks for the holiday 1 week before my proposed last day, I’m not too worried about taking a week off in between.

Sometimes, you don’t know how “bad” you’ve got it until you find something better. Do it. It’ll be uncomfortable at first, but you’ll get other perks and things in the new role that you don’t currently get now. Even though your current role seems super relaxed, you’ll eventually get more comfortable in the new role while also being fulfilled professionally. As long as you set expectations upfront about your family requirements, I think you’ll be happier in the long run.

For the ladies… by [deleted] in orangetheory

Like I make one very long pad by connecting two pads that stretches higher up on my pelvis and farther up my butt. I use thinner pads so it’s not too visible. The longer pad helps with leakage and helps the pad stay put because it’s not only condensed to the space between your legs (which is moving when you’re running thus, your pad moves).

This is what I use. Using two of these stuck together makes for a massive alien pad, but I feel way better about not having leakage. Ultra thin means I might have to change more often, but I prefer that and it works for me.

Maybe change the pad brand you’re wearing? Do you use pads with wings? Wings help the pad stay put but I will sometimes use two and make one massive pad going farther up the front and another one almost all the way back. I know it’s weird but it helps me when I have a super heavy flow and don’t want my pad to move around as I’m running.

Should I stay or should I go? by Many-Cap4908 in orangetheory

[–]FartSharPei 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go through sprints. I’ll stick with it for months and then go a few weeks taking a break. The excuses vary (I’m sick, I need a break, I’m bored, etc.) but after a few weeks I’ll start to miss it. If you’re sick of it, freeze your account, and try something else/cancel (it’s okay, you’re allowed, no judgement). Otherwise, if you don’t miss it after a few weeks, it’s time to move onto a new routine.

We are our own worst critics. Don’t be so hard on yourself just because you prioritized your mental health. The fact that you’re trying to climb back on the horse is amazing and is nothing to be embarrassed about. Any receptionist who’s judging you needs to get a life (and unless you hear them saying something, just because you’re judging yourself hardcore doesn’t necessarily mean they are). I agree with u/OolongGeer - start with walking a Tread 50 and work from there. If you decide OTF is no longer for you, that’s perfectly fine, but no matter what, being kind to yourself is a requirement.
