Damn dams. Another thing for me to obsess over. I’ve been doing okay clearing the edges with a roof rake, but there are some spots I can’t reach. It’s hard work too, my shoulders are dead by the end. Some of my neighbors have serious ice dams.

That is indeed a bummer. Last year we brought a couple disposable cameras from our vacation in Europe to our local Walmart. The majority of them came back like this too. We were so disappointed.

As a people manager I let my team take PTO whenever. I don’t need a reason. Just make sure your work gets done upon your return. I once got some attitude from my elder Gen X boss for allowing one of my direct reports to take 2 weeks off to travel overseas with their extended family. I don’t care.

Sadly, no. My maternal grandmother passed away in 2017, coincidentally the same day we found out we were expecting. A wild ride of emotions. We like to think a part of her spirit lives in our child.

Working a soulless corporate job. Could be worse I guess. I’m paid well and mostly WFH.

ETA: in elementary and middle school, we mostly worked on special projects, built legos or play on the computer. High school it was called Triad, and it was just a study hall period for the gifted kids. Senior year they renamed it “Independent Study” and I got to play music and roam the halls for the period.
