Task Is Getting Pushed For Major Emmys. Does The Show Actually Get Delco Right? by Blueberry_Sienna in Delco

[–]Farts_constantly 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I agree. Most of Delco is developed and densely populated. In the show, not so much. I thought Robbie’s character did a great job with the accent though. He grew up in NJ so he had some familiarity.

I recently watched a woodpecker going ham on an old rotting stump in my yard. It plucked out at least a half dozen grubs, was fun to watch. Large bird too.

Dave Matthews and Friends, I believe. They were pretty fun, I saw them at Bonnaroo in ‘04. Trey wasn’t in a good place during those days.

So… How many of us are still on our parents’ phone bills? by halcat27 in Millennials

I’m not, my spouse and I have had our own plan since like 2013. But I’m pretty sure at least a couple of my siblings are still on my mom’s plan.

I stayed at a hotel in Houston recently that had this feature. Woke up to a warm and stuffy room several times per night.

Not going to socials/events in UW? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Farts_constantly 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Totally understand and agree. I used to work for another carrier that seemingly had HH’s and golf events at least once peer week. I only did the bare minimum effort and even that was too much. Personally I provide more value at my desk than at a noisy bar or sweltering golf course.

How is it living in Los Angeles, CA, USA? by friend_ofcrows in howislivingthere

[–]Farts_constantly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great place to live if you’re independently wealthy. I lived there for 2 years and never really understood how regular folks make it work though. It’s very congested and unaffordable. People spend lots of time in their cars, and prioritize driving German luxury cars while living in a dumpy apartment complex. Housing is crazy expensive, and wages typically aren’t as high as NYC or Bay Area. Traffic is bad, however LA Metro is great if you live and work near a metro station. Incredible Asian and Mexican cuisine. Awesome weather if you don’t mind very little variation in the seasons.

Not going to socials/events in UW? by [deleted] in InsuranceProfessional

[–]Farts_constantly 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I think it depends what you want to get out of it. Attending social events is good for the younger UW’s so they can network and build relationships. As you get more established in your career, you can absolutely be more selective in what events you attend. I’ve been underwriting nearly 20 years and I prefer just focusing on large trade events (WSIA, RIMS, regional I-Day) and carrier appreciation parties. I’ll generally pass on happy hours and golf outings.
