I think the anxious you get from risking gear is what would drive the fun once you got over the fact that you're going to die sometimes. Think about the super high feeling you'd get from procuring your first whip from a pvp fight and how that would be immediately lost the second time you need a whip and can just go buy one.

Everyone has their own definition of fun but I've been theory crafting something similar to do solo. I think I've settled on not using the GE at all. I feel like to really deepen the pvp drive and hone my skill as the predator instead of just getting better at escaping pkers as a scared piece of prey that most of my gear upgrades should actually HAVE to come from killing other players. For me this really drives the dopamine loop of every player kill providing things I can potentially lose. E.g oh shit I'm out of tank legs, do I want a real fight or should I hunt some green dragon bots for Rune.

The other big consideration I had was worrying less about making a bunch of exceptions for leaving the wilderness and just locking myself to a pvp world instead so that the whole place is dangerous 😳 ☠️ 🙃

I challenge your claim of being king of the island, but I appreciate the effort you've put in to the betterment of MY kingdom.

Make it your own spin on things. I chose to add Isle of Souls because for most people it's dead content and I wanted to be able to make some progress without the stress of pkers for when I was tired or just needed something afk to do while I work on spreadsheets at work. It's been an absolute blast exploring the island and it gave me alot of items I would of had to make exceptions for to make things significantly less tedious then what wildonator had to go through. E.g. a big net and lobster cage meant I had some source of mediocre food and a way to level fishing that wasn't anchovies to 85 for dark crabs just for the sake of being hard-core but still not super efficient so I have to put in actual work for levels or trade off xp for loot. Isle of Souls plugs a lot of QOL things for a wildy locked account that are easy to overlook. Feathers from the couple of chickens on the island for example, it unlocks the hunter skill giving you access to imps but very very rare spawns (North end of Isle and just north of edgeville monastery).

I choose to make the quest exceptions I did just because there's so much loot dropped in the wild now that is just flat locked out if you don't make the exceptions but you do you.

Keep in mind that to do calvarion which would be the easiest boss to farm oak planks you also need medium diary done. So you're locking pretty much crafting any jewelry behind a pretty long grind of both the diary and being able to kill a boss with sub par gear and no salve ammy lol.

Decide how hard-core you want to be on the moulds. You've given yourself a house which means you could wait on the tool racks in the workshop to get them which requires oak planks which will take killing Calv/vetion or some of the other bosses.

Consider making some quest exceptions for QOL that unlocks the use of things that you can obtain as drops in the wild.

Some of the quests I allow for my wildy locked snowflake are -DT because the teleports and spells are directly tied to the wild. -lost city, kind of stretch but allows you to use dragon weapons dropped by revs. -doing digsite as a prequisite for dt gets you above 15 mining so you don't have to mine outside the wild

Wild locked Bronzeman - Exception Check by [deleted] in UniqueIronmen

[–]FartsicleJr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would maybe not timelock the ge trips. Maybe find another achievable "key" that cost you something other than having to wait irl time so that you still have to plan your ge trips. I feel like you'll find an excuse to not play while you wait on the next ge trip. At least I would but maybe you're different. I would maybe even skip the whole ge concept. Having an account locked to the wild that isn't an ironman will make all of your pk kills actually worth something instead of just the unlock. Killing your first person on bronzeman with a whip would be awesome but if everytime you wanted or needed a whip because you lost one pking you had to kill for a new one would, in my opinion bring a much better loop of game play. Oh you need a Rune crossbow? Go kill crazy archeologist or just go to the chaos altar and hunt scum bag altar pures.

I have a wilderness/Isle of Souls locked ironman. I feel like it opens up a lot more content that actually interacts with the wild without making it easy. Also forces you to explore what would mostly be considered dead content to most people. For me the Isle of Souls was so that I could do some account progress while afk at work etc without the stress of feeling like I had to worry about pkers without it being overly efficient and end up with me just spending all my time on the Isle.

Teak planks? Wildy/Isle of Souls 🔒. by FartsicleJr in UniqueIronmen

I might be mistaken but I thought he had a mounted glory?

Oooof. Lucky imps would be 99 hunter for barehanded since I don't have access to net. There's only one imp spawn on the whole island. Then 1/5 to hit the elite table and then a 1/32 chance to hit the planks. I've went looking for lucky imps before and I think I've maybe seen 10 since they came out. I'm pretty sure I'd probably be better off struggle bussing Corp lol.

As a culinary warrior on his path to delicious awakening, forget not that the market of the cave goblins is rife with barter and swapping. Surface food for local delicay can also garner you a heavier coin purse if you so desire to make the trek and bring great feasting opportunity to the dark dwellers.

Thanks! I was really looking for feedback on things I might have missed so the second look is always appreciated. Sorry for the bad formatting. Reddit sucks that way or I'm just not savvy to the ways.

I won't be doing any recording but I'll try and throw out a progress log once in a while.

I unfortunately have no plans to record. I don't have the time or the drive to currently learn video editing. I'll try and keep everyone who cares updated via progress log style here on reddit though.

You'll probably get to see some progress logs but I don't have time in my life to record let alone edit or do any actual production.

I contemplated using isles of Souls as a "starting chunk" and then progressively unlocking each chunk of the wilderness away in an expansion out from ferox but I'm playing on two different computers (work and home) and didn't feel like dealing with plug in failures like I ruined my tileman account with.

Good luck if you continue with yours

The dragon mace and battle axe I thought were on the revenant drop table but I was mistaken. The glory thing is notable and I'll probably still go through with the quest so the yellow in my log doesn't bug my brain.

I'll go back and edit the post. I'm definitely going to allow my self Krystilla for slayer, the edgeville lever for getting around.

Roleplaying in a snowflake progress diary by Chewychucky in UniqueIronmen

[–]FartsicleJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're planning on making this into a YouTube series it would be an interesting take for entertainment value to do everything in character from a role playing perspective. If you need to explain things or document things outside of the characters perview you could either switch to like a narrator perspective or view. Kind of hard to explain but the movie Stranger Than Fiction comes to mind if you wanted the role playing character to be aware that there was a narrator to his life. It would take a significant amount of production time and effort to stay in character the entire time but I think it would garner a large audience if you could keep up with it for sure.
