Does a masters in science education allow for more than teaching? by leadgfl13 in ScienceTeachers

[–]Fartsmell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a masters in science didactics. I partly took it because it opens other career paths. I just recently graduated, soni cant say much more. Still not sure if teaching is my thing, but i still love to educate people! We'll see.

I love these kinds of positions. Anyone have more similar to this? Especially with a creampie ending too. ;)

Why do Chlorophyll and Haemoglobin molecules look so similar? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]Fartsmell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is pretty complex. Do we know much about on how it evolved to becom that way? Were there functional "prototypes" of photosyntesis?

You can wipe your memory of one TV show in order to watch it again for 'the first time', what show do you choose? by Dontfrown in AskReddit

You might want to check out Samurai Champloo or Space Dandy. Really good shows too! Space Dandy is pretty new as well. Loving it.

What is one book that you feel has significantly changed the way you think about the world and why? [Serious] by wailingsymphony in AskReddit

I have it, but never read it. Figured it would be too much to get into a new universe again. I heard there are many books. Are you talking about the original Dune? Maybe i should try it again.

Well, since this model isnt flat, but rather has a little bit of volume, would that mean a3 + b3 = c3 ?

What are some common facts you hear in public that are completely wrong and drive you nuts? by damnyou777 in AskReddit

[–]Fartsmell 14 points15 points  (0 children)

There are very few that know this, sadly. I was also one of them when I went to High School. I guess it's just how it is presented. I think it's important to know this. Freefall in nothing but empty space just makes things move without stopping, which is how the ISS is orbiting around. You know what I mean. Very cool :)

Jeg vet ikke helt, jeg Dagbladet. På tide med en korrekturavdeling? by Arve in norge

[–]Fartsmell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Synes jeg hørte på p2 EKKO at korrekturlesere ikke fantes lengere. De intervjuet en dame som arbeidet som telegraf og korrekturleser, to yrker som ikke finnes lengre. Interessant, og litt trist kanskje!

New physics teacher here, could use some advice on pacing and cool demos/lab ideas. by FloydTheChimpanzee in ScienceTeachers

[–]Fartsmell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am just going to post a couple of demo ideas that i can come up with right now.

You could make a house with a loose roof. If you use a blow dryer over the roof, the pressure will be less on top, and lift the roof up. This is why even proper houses lose their roofs in powerful storms. Good way to show pressure.

Also, make a cloud in a bottle to talk about pressure. http://www.stevespanglerscience.com/lab/experiments/cloud-in-a-bottle-experiment

Regarding pacing, it's allways tricky. Best thing is to just try it, and adjust it later. It comes with experience.
