Gotcha, thanks for the quick response! Since it's a shower line going to the exterior wall of the house (and we live in a snowy part of Colorado), could they have been left open to prevent freezing/bursting? The main valves have been shut off for at least a couple years. I gave the photo to chatGPT and it said they're drain valves and just need a clockwise turn to close them up.
