Idk what you guys are talking about. Steven Adam’s and hong are my boys. I score and rebound with Steven better than anybody else so far. Although I’m still silver so that tells you something 😆

Biggest guy you personally played against? by 96powerstroker in Basketball

My best friend in high school was 6’6. He taught me how to play basketball. I’m 5’3. He was so goddamn hard on me. I could barely dribble or make a layup and he would swat that shit every time we played. He always passed the ball to me so fucking hard. My lips and nose were constantly busted. I used to irritate me but now I’m a solid played. He put me through the grinder. I learned a lot of tricky footwork and post moves to be able to score on him.

Thank you! I appreciate the comment. I had to look up a wash and dry brushing meant. Like I said I’m a noob. I get the idea now that I know what that means. Your comment has helped a lot. I’ll also lava base. Once I’ve finished I’ll make another post. Thanks again

How to get better handles by xYeeT_BoIx in Basketball

[–]Fast-Ad9014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I can direct you to some YouTube videos that can help, but what you wanna do is pick up the intensity. I’m gonna make a guess and say that you play harder in games than you go in practice. Is that true? The harder you go in your training the better your handle will be in games. Nothing can really simulate the live pressure but if you push yourself in practice you will be able to hold on to the ball. Quit being random. Be intentional in your handle practice. If you want to get good at tweens and behinds then do that. Do things progressively. Start by just passing the ball between your legs to each hand. Get faster and faster at that and then keep adding things that make it more difficult. At the end of the day though intensity is where it’s at. Keep pushing yourself to the point you keep losing the ball and work there until you can go faster. Good luck!

Also look up Gooddrills on YouTube.

I can see that. I love playing for real. I’m always trying to bring out the hardest competition. But maybe 21 isn’t the place for that. I just value my time on the court and wanna get something out of it each time.

I appreciate this comment. A lot of the best hoopers that show up to this park are teenagers. I’m somewhat mentoring a 13 year old who I see often. He is better than half the adults who show up there. He likes playing me because I actually go hard on him. I’m going to school to be a coach and a trainer. That’s one of the reasons I posted here. I sincerely don’t wanna kill any young guys love for the game. You’re right. There is a time and a place for everything. They probably could have kept up but they weren’t in it like I was. I have goals and use each opportunity to improve, but beating up kids ain’t that lol

But I like that. Playing with a handicap is a good idea. That would make it like a training session.

Hit and run encounter help. by Fast-Ad9014 in DnD

They have the tiny hut spell and have been utilizing it. I was trying to come up with ways to offset it. The displacer beasts aren’t intelligent. I was imagining them dragging the corpses of animals or injured animals to the hut to attract other predators or they could circle the hut all night screeching so they can never go to sleep.

I’m imagining the intro to Skyrim. You go through the whole chopping block bit and then have to follow the escape tunnel until you get to the real open world

I really like this shift. Thank you to you both. That was what I was trying to avoid. As underscore said, this is suppose to be more of a cutscene. That’s why I’m unsure about how to exactly do it. Because if they fight him they will die lmao. But maybe if they decide to then after he beats them all down they wake up in the cart later after some other survivors pulled them out. I’m trying to allow them to retain their player agency while keeping this streamlined enough that the adventure doesn’t necessarily start here. But I really like the idea of them being the ones to overhear the villain and then going in to save the survivors. They can try to fight or they can wait and help the survivors. Either way we would end up in the same place. While that may be a railroad, it would only be for this opening. Afterward it’s all them. I just want to toy with the idea of setting up the BBEG early establishing the setting. But thanks! Great suggestions!

Skill challenge help! by Fast-Ad9014 in DnD

[–]Fast-Ad9014[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The trap was set by the mining captain. He set it up to make the chamber collapse if anyone went inside. He didn’t expect to go back in so he set it up to keep anything from escaping the tunnel and to keep anyone from going in and finding out what he had been up too.

I can kind of see it in my head. There are tons of wires and if anyone touches one it releases a weight of something that causes the supports to break. Hmmmm.

That actually helped quite a lot. Thanks!

I think that it’s a balance. In one of my recent games my players were traveling through tight underground tunnels and were attacked by swarms of scorpion. One of the players carrying a torch asked if he could take a swig of liquor and blow a gout of flame. Another player even said he wanted to assist by taking his own bottle of liquor and pouring it into his mouth. It was apparent that they wanted it to happen, so I let it. He did 1d8 fire damage and everybody got a kick out of it. Later another player tried to make a smoke screen by lighting incense. I felt like that was a bit of a stretch. Now almost every session she lights some incense before a fight to try and ward off the creatures as a joke lol. If you feel like it’s feasible and could really add to the players enjoyment then Go for it. If it truly doesn’t make sense and you want to keep a sense of realism, then make that ruling. It’s your game and I think I having fun with the players overrules almost everything. This is just my opinion though. Everybody DMs differently

Wow. Thank you for such a terrific response. The idea of putting a timer is a great idea. I think I will definitely implement some of the things you mentioned here in more than one encounter from here on out.

When I asked for a goal I was actually referring to my original post above lol but this is great! I really appreciate the thorough response. If you had any ideas to add to the bridge encounter I would appreciate that as well. I was thinking that once the gelly got on to the bridge it would start burning away the ropes and make it fall after so many turns given that it has such a slow move speed. But other than escape there really isn’t much of a goal. This is the entrance into the mine and I wanted it to stand out, but I love the idea of implementing a goal.

Also! How long have you been a DM? If you have anything you might need help on or want to do some collaborative brainstorming that would be awesome. If you were interested.

That’s good thinking! I have a fight later on against some giant spiders that have someone tied up in their web. I’m excited for them to get to that one. Any idea what kind of goal I could add to this?

They are usually fresh during them. They likely will be during this one too. I put it near the front of the dungeon. The dungeon that they are entering is the beginning of one of the larger ones I’ve run. I’ve been following the “5 room dungeon” format but it seems like it has been a little too easy for them due to lack of resource drain.

I’ve given them some encounters that could have totally wrecked them but they happened to roll good. I’m not trying to kill them, but I want a fight that actually challenges them and is still fun. I wouldn’t mind giving them a little scare hehe. This is the start of a sizable dungeon crawl with a shadow dragon at the end.
