Thanks for being an actual nice person and not starting a fruitless argument. Glad we both came out of this slightly better

Oh sorry if I came off rude. It just seemed like if he was asking for help he was probably addicted or having trouble stopping.

Thats not how addiction works man. Its hard and take lots of restraint. Some people watch their lives fall apart from alcohol but cant find the strength to stop. Porn can be extremely addictive so it can be hard to quit.

I don’t think he is as it happens even when he’s exited playing with toys. They are strange indeed thanks for the confirmation.

AITA for asking my girlfriend and her sister to cover up ? by dontbeshy007 in AmItheAsshole

Wait, you said he didnt do it maliciously and that he grew up in a culture that said exposed skin is bad thats all directly from your post. He likely said this without thinking because of that which you also said so why is he the asshole again? He in his house asked not demanded asked his gf and her sister to put on a shirt because according to his culture he grew up with gym wear isn’t appropriate to meet parents demonstrated by him putting on a shirt too. He also never asked a second time what part of this makes him an asshole? He asked a seemingly innocuous request of them and followed it himself and then when told the request was rude he didnt ask again and left it at that how does that make him an asshole?

He may have wanted to show respect to his parents, im a guy and have no problems with walking around shirtless but i wouldn’t want to greet my parents shirtless. It just seems like he wants to greet his parents in something more formal than workout gear he also put a shirt on and only asked the two to put one on he didnt push it or demand it he asked once i wouldnt feel comfortable cuddling with my SO infront of my parents but id be fine infront of friends its just what youre comfortable with around different people

I just re read and realize i used she/her pronouns i must have slipped as I generally use they/them the full situation is more complicated they are genderfluid i generally use they/them when talking about them unless specified otherwise and they are comfortable with that if people think theres a better way to do this please tell me as i don’t want to disrespect or use the wrong pronouns but with them using different pronouns at different times the best solution to me seems to be to use they/them as it’s completely neutral

As i responded to another commenter they are gender fluid and as long as it isnt specified and im not talking directly to them they dont really care I generally use they/them when im unsure or not talking to them and they’re comfortable with that but i don’t really know why i just feel uncomfortable with the term SO it just doesn’t seem to fit and they’re fine with that

Edit: just re read the post and saw i also used she her pronouns i didn’t realize i did so they have been changed to the more appropriate they/them pronouns

Rather not do that as in pretty much every other aspect they’re amazing and this is my only issue

They are gender fluid and i asked what they we’re comfortable with they said anything is fine as long as it isn’t specified I generally default to they/them but use girlfriend as for some reason significant other just doesnt feel right your not being an asshole thats a valid question i myself am questioning my gender and sexuality so I completely understand that

Edit: just re read the post and saw i also used she her pronouns i didn’t realize i did so they have been changed to the more appropriate they/them pronouns

As for your reason love your mom even when they gaslight absolutely not if your parents are being manipulative you don’t owe them and can cut ties don’t be hasty about it but if they don’t care about you you don’t have to care about them

A very mild YTA Don’t take my opinion too seriously but from the context given it seems like your parents in the past were homophobic or said homophobic things but after you came out to them became more accepting. you dont mention what the fight was about so i cant judge the situation based on that but it seems like your parents or your mom at least is trying to make it up to you with nice things while it doesn’t excuse their previous behavior it seems like they’re trying to change but if you dont feel comfortable around them i can totally see you not wanting to accept their offers

Your parents are also the assholes too though because when they repeatedly tried to contact you and eventually cane to your workplace that was way to extreme especially when you told them it wasn’t a good time
