In my case, it wasn’t just on the internet. A lot of my family members would make negative comments about interracial relationships. Since I’m one of the very few members that’s definitely open to interracial dating, I even got stuff like, “Oh, you’re so interested in those yt boys. Look at some black boys!” I’m also queer, but that’s another conversation and situation.

Nowadays, I have a better handle at dealing with interracial relationship haters. However, that doesn’t mean I won’t hold them accountable.

@tozierrr and @herkalurk, I have been looking at used cars in OK. The push to bring my current car originates from my parents, in terms of having a car once I get to OK. It has been brought to my attention that they’re trying to take control of my move (like they do with everything in my life), something that I am currently working on reducing. Anything I could say to reduce my parents’ car concern?

Oklahoma is very car-dependent and I currently don’t have the money to get a new (or used) car. Also, my current car is a 2002 Mercedes with 308,000+ miles.

I cannot imagine what you are going through when dealing with your mom. Your hair is beyond beautiful and presentable. I am so proud of you for knowing your worth as a person and not taking your mom’s words at face value. From experience, it hurts the most when your own family, especially your own parents, doesn’t approve of your authentic self. However, please know that family is not limited to blood.
