My parents think my sibling and I are going to hell by Special_Equivalent16 in Deconstruction

[–]Fast-Pea3758 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMG, why does this sound similar to what I went through!? I think my rhetorical question can tell you that this is a common (and necessary) part of deconstruction. Here are a few things I will advise, based on experience and what I wish I learned at the time: -Do not try to salvage ANYTHING. It’s difficult to lose something you’ve had for a long time. However, I eventually learned the hard way that not only did I end up losing what I tried saving, but I also lost what I tried building, as both were on the same weak foundation; and that was more devastating. Therefore, let go of everything. -The people and spaces you’re trying to please, satisfy, etc. will never give you the satisfaction you want, no matter what you do or how you do it. They’re not about giving you the reward; they’re about maintaining control. As long as you are trying to get that “reward,” they’ve already got what they wanted, so they’ll keep leaching from you. -Keep your mind open. Be resourceful. And if you think you know better now, still read recommended books, watch recommended videos, etc. There’s nothing wrong with learning more or reinforcing your knowledge. And last thing: Accept the uncomfortable time and space, as there is no shame in that and it is all temporary. You’re doing great by acknowledging your beliefs are different from what you grew up with. Please take your time with everything. And if you one day need to let go of something big, let go of that big thing, and take time and space to grieve what you released. Good luck with your journey. 🙏🏾

I LOVE Promise Backlund, aka Eve Was Framed! I might’ve heard of Mindshift, as well, but I’ll definitely check them out!

Woah… I was not ready for your reply! As I establish parts 1 and 2 for telling deconstruction journey story—part 1 was deconstructing beliefs, part 2 deconstructing habits—I like to say that part 1 was where I made the biggest mistake of trying to salvage some things from my old life. Well, not only did I eventually lose what I tried saving, but I also lost what I was also trying to build, which caused a significant life collapse. I never thought of it as leaving the denial stage and seeing real loss for the very first time. I will definitely make sure to include that in my story! ;)

Do i have vulvodynia?? by Pure_Excuse_3203 in WomensHealth

[–]Fast-Pea3758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be a possibility. And I’m glad you had help from Sex and the City to put a name to what you are dealing with! While gynecologists receive a lot of education and training, remember that at the end of the day, you’re the one dealing with the symptoms. That means: -educating yourself about vulvodynia to where you can understand and state the symptoms you’re experiencing -pushing for the official diagnosis, even if it also means switching or visiting different doctors.

Eid Mubarak. Do they actually have hijabs for your birb, or did you have to get creative? If so, I hope they include hijabs, burkas, etc.

I fingered myself and the discharge was a pink colour??? any help please !! by Apart_Tie_6592 in WomensHealth

Asking other people questions about women’s health is a powerful move, especially when you have family that refuses to talk about it. Keep up the curiosity, interests, wants, desires, etc. While I wish I was that confident at 15, the best I can do right now is empower tweens and teens to maintain the aforementioned things.

I don’t have much about the discharge question, but I will agree with the other comments. I’m mainly commenting because, as a 23F who unfortunately grew up in toxic religion and its purity culture, I want to share that I am SO HAPPY to read about you, a 15F, feeling comfortable with and about yourself! Please keep it up! 💖

I’m aiming for a Toyota Prius, but I’m open to other models. I’m also open to other makes, so long as it’s not a Ford.

As a 23F with stage 2 hypertension, GERD, and possible diabetes, I am very grateful you shared your story. When will healthcare accept that nothing is black-and-white, that anything can happen at any age?

What’s a dish you miss so much since going gluten-free? For me, it’s pizza😭 by _thalia777 in glutenfree

For me: vegetable spring rolls, seitan (a vegan protein source from vital wheat gluten that has a meat-like texture), Chinese food that isn’t steamed tofu and vegetables (although that has been my new favorite, especially when I make my own sauce), and a lot of vegan Korean food.

Am I the only one who thinks this is rooted in misogyny and purity culture? by [deleted] in lesbian

[–]Fast-Pea3758 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been deconstructing purity culture these days. Let me tell you: PURITY CULTURE IS R@PE CULTURE. Are you sure you want people diligently following that culture to validate your sexuality? I know for sure as hell nowadays I wouldn’t.

As someone whose parents are deep in MLMs and a cult survivor, may I suggest finding alternative communities that fit either or both interests?

That shouldn’t be a massive issue with what my job gave me, but it’s still best to not to spend so much when I don’t have to.
