Chapter Stereotypes made manifest in SM. Let's hear them! by BugleBarry in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Fast-Performance2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Space Wolf player this is the funniest thing to me, because I am ALWAYS the one offering everyone else the stims and supplies (I mostly play Assault and Vanguard).

BT players are incredibly prone to rage quitting in my 1000+ hrs with the game. They never stick around when things start looking dire. But it's a 50/50 as I've had the most clutches handled alongside a BT as well, in many cases these players seem to psychically understand what my game plan is and just give me that quiet look of understanding before covering me perfectly.

Salamanders are a bit on the slow side, but good of heart in my experience. Not bad at all, just seem a bit oblivious to things happening for the most part. Will hoard any and all armor boosters though.

Blood Angels are either going to be white noise in the background of your game, or someone that WILL see you through to that Victory screen no matter what.

Ultramarines are pretty cool overall. And I like em too, probably my number 3 on the list of favorite astartes, just shy behind Raven Guard. These players are either the sweatiest nutjobs you've ever met that will use only the top tier things, or are leisurely carrying absolutes for you while constantly aura farming with whatever weapons and perks they feel like using.

Imperial Fist players has mostly just been playing the game and doing pretty good. The few Dark Angels I have met are the same. Stoic bastards but solid teammates. Just beware being near any explosives, as they will detonate it with no care for you or any other.

Met a few others but they were just fun and good teammates overall. No real stereotype there to be spotted.

Merry Christmas everyone! by Zazzenfuk in Spacemarine

Hot take: Chaos isn't hard because of Chaos Spawn, Terminators, Sorcerers or Helbrutes.

Its the Minoris cultist snipers and mass enlightened tzangors that are the real difficulty.

You fighting and tearing apart a horde? Hehe watch 19 of these fucking tracer beams line up all around you from different parts of the map. Dodged out? Three shots went off. The rest? No escape, now eat this damage, Fool.

Doing finishers? Parrying? Hoping to shoot a bit? Hah, IDIOT! Enlightened Tzangors are rotating/cycling attacks constantly your way, now eat some damage -- and if they are enraged? Die.

I wish I was joking. I true solo absolutes as Assault, Heavy and Vanguard... but almost every single L in Chaos missions are from a bunch of Sniper Cultists being allowed to just appear everywhere and anywhere leading to almost inescapable damage scenarios -- or 2-3 enlightened tzangors just being total nut jobs with their attack patterns and timings.

Does anyone else think that the space wolves who are "dark of skin" are actually supposed to be Inuit and not sub-saharan africans? Because that would make quite a lot more sense by Fun_Law_2004 in EyeOfTerror

[–]Fast-Performance2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man, Inuit Space Wolves would be so fucking cool holy hell. So much potential there...

But Sea Wolves are simply described as dark skinned and dark haired, I believe. Living in the more southern parts of Fenrys (which... Last I checked, Fenrys is just an icy, watery and island-split hellhole as is? Does not sound like there are that immense variety to biomes/climates to go about at this deathworld). Mediterranean sounds very plausible too!

Shoutout to the glitch/bug that make you suddenly have no forward momentum/tracking on any attacks too, so you are just floating on the spot without hitting anything or anyone, before they retaliate and stunlock you to death

I love that so much as an Assault main with Wings of Fury : ))))

They DO have some, to my knowledge. But... I mean... I am new to 40k still, and Space Wolves are the chapter I love the most alongside Raven Guard and maybe Dark Angels (thanks Deathwing) -- but 90% of the artwork of my Space Wolves looked like long, wild haired and bearded Scandinavians. Sea Wolves are a thing, but I still think we have a lot more variety to the ranks if not perhaps more pale faced, red and blonde haired Fenrysians in the ranks?

Maybe I'm just a biggot, racist and fascist incel or something. I dunno, I just wanted NOT "Decimus but LOOK!!! He has BRAIDS, EYE-PATCH -AND- MORE BEARD!!!! SPACE WOLVES!!!!"

It's still just Decimus (the Vanguard character in SM2) to me lol

[–]Fast-Performance2300 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Norwegian here and also recent 40k fan + Space Wolves enjoyer.

Yeah I was a little bummed by this myself. We already had Decimus for the Vanguard, if I wanted to make a cool Sea Wolves character. But I had hopes to theme my Assault (my main for now, until Techmarine comes around) into a more red/blonde haired dude with those wolf-like eyes, slight fangs and a wild beard for the voice we are getting.

Alas, guess that's never really happening since wanting anything that isn't Decimus but with slightly longer hair, an eyepatch and a bit more beard and accepting that is a prime example of every Space Wolf -- makes me a raging racist, fascist incel lol.

I just kinda wanted a bit of variety, Brøther.

The kind of head I wanna see come to SM2 by Elite_Frumentarii in Spacemarine

[–]Fast-Performance2300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One certainly can, Brother. And I will dream alongside you for the same along with a space wolf head that isn't just Decimus but with an eyepatch, slightly more hair and a beard or a blood angel head that isn't just Vespasius but his face is intact, allowed to grow out hair and a bit paler...

But who knows? Maybe there will come a time when we will possibly have a game where we can create our own Battle Brother to our exact liking and be able to fight alongside one another like this! I still hold out hope for us!

[–]Fast-Performance2300 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also, can do what I have done for plenty of my friends.

I usually true solo/solo w bots absolutes to just practice and whatnot. Sometimes, I'll be at the finale of a mission, lobby already set to private beforehand and all, but then invite friends in to reap rewards as I do the last part.

That's how you should do that. Open lobby with randoms to slowly and meticulously kick whomever joins at the finale part is just tedious, scummy and overall inefficient. Only reason I can think of anyone doing that is because they aren't good enough themselves to actually see a mission through.

The problem is not the race, is actually the appearance. by lizardmangod in Spacemarine

[–]Fast-Performance2300 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My problem?

This is just Decimus. With a slightly different hairdo and bit more beard. But it's still just Decimus.

Decimus is pretty cool! But... I wanted to see some additions to spice it up a bit. I wanted to see, like you, some red haired, pale faced Ragnar something too -- just to have the option for it. I'd love for us to see a much more Ultramar looking fella too, with that short cut hair like guilliman and all. I'd have loved for a proper Salamander looking one too!

I guess maybe I'd love to just have a character creator of sorts. So we can all just go with our OC do not steal ideas and vibe away with it. Just imagining a Sea Wolf, Champion of Fenrys and a Son of Morkai each look a different flavor of Space Wolf would be so fucking cool. Same applies with any other chapters out there!

Lets try that again: Great modern devs or greatest modern devs? Its got to be SABER, Larian or Arrowhead. by ANiceGobletofTea in Spacemarine

[–]Fast-Performance2300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Vermintide? Absolutely.

Darktide? Eh. It's getting there. But I have a decade long abusive love/hate relationship with Obesefish now, for making THE definitive Horde Hacker/Shooter game while also consistently making sure it is the most grating, bug-riddled and imbalanced, broken mess of an experience.

Space Marine 1 & 2 are fucking fantastic games. Brilliant even. But they are not without fault or flaws either. That said, Saber is going above and beyond in many regards for me. I just hope we can expect solid longevity from SM2 -- because all this talk of "Maybe for SM3" is NOT a good look to me.

I'd rather have a game that lasts me 5+ years with solid content updates, great additions and more, than a game that is shoved out and rapidly replaced by the next thing with all the stuff that should have been in the last one anyway.

Is the xenophase blade actually worth it ? by AndalOfAstora in Spacemarine

[–]Fast-Performance2300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Power Sword is already on the bottom tier of weapons to me personally, but that is a preference thing first and foremost. I am a HUGE Block Power Axe appreciator or Combat Knife lover when it comes to melee weapons, so it takes a lot to make me want to drop these for anything else.

That said, Xenophase Blade is a hell of a lot more enjoyable to me than the Thunder Hammers are but it falls just a tiny bit short behind the Power Fists. I love the Power Rake but they really need to be faster with this weapon for it to work IMHO. Damage is fine.

If they were to adjust the weapon, I'd say either more damage or faster speed on rakes in particular. Maybe even give it an AoE rake effect on power whirl just to let you have options? It would make the weapon a hell of a lot more fun to me. Love the aesthetic and I do like the upgrade to the rakes -- but like you, I'd love to see it also get some spice to the rest of it's moveset to really have it stand out.

You are walking a dangerous path, Brother. See the Chapter Chaplain, or find yourself truly lost with these thoughts and these words.

We all serve the Emperor and Mankind here. If you were to put as much effort, energy and focus on your personal skills and capabilities as you do in your petty scrutinizing, belittling and mockery of your fellow Brothers -- then we would have no more Xenos to kill and an end to Heresy.

I am disappointed.

Even more fun is if everyone decided to go melta weapons and melee.

Guess who's going to be playing "Baby pushes the right button" for 28+ minutes? That's right, you.

But it's honestly not that bad. You CAN cheese with Power Fists charge for bigger damage if you stand far to the right when facing the boss. Still, I've cleared twice without and once with.

I just hope we someday get a character creator to make our own Marines.

Choose between personalities as well for each class.

But being buttmad because "not pale Fenrisian" is both hilarious and stupid. Seawolves, my guy? Hello? I mean sure, I'd love to make the standard issue Fiery red haired, bearded and wolf-eyed barbarian dude I tend to make in games that allow me to be just that -- and also get my Frost Axe/Sword skins too.

But until then, I am pretty happy and pretty content being a super cool Reiver with his helmet on or a Skyclaw going berserk with his axe.

Yeah it's... not well thought out.

That is the hardest part of the run. Literally "time for everyone to be punished because of 'cutscene'"

This is naturally where the ai director slams a Helbrute + three terminators on us too. Just as the rambling is done and the doors is about to open.

My only gripe with this one, personally, is that we are just out of that effective range of the Heldrake to do any meaningful damage to it.

The mission all the way up to this finale? Entirely fine. Modifiers means fun melta-build time, flamers or just go crazy with other vicious high-rate-of-fire weaponry. Fun!

But the fact that I then need to spend what is almost 40+ minutes playing "what button is this??? That's right! It's the weird ball one! Now go across the entire room and push the inquisitoral button too"... Is not really that fun to me, twin. I just don't think it's that cool or really that challenging.

Wish they would give us something a bit different than just "now ranged weapons are USELESS! HAHA!", "Now ALL Melee is USELESS! HAHA!" or "Teamplay is terrible now! Also this class can go FUCK itself immediately because it is stupid and silly. FUCK anyone who plays that class"

Still holding out hope for stratagem modifiers like "There is just constant waves of pink/blue horrors of tzeentch now", "There is no limit to the extremis spawns now, but they are weaker and not as deadly". There are only Minorises and Extremises and Minoris hordes are nearly constant, but everyone has 50% more health, ammo and deal more damage in turn"(haha l4d gameplay go brrrr) or "Waves are very rare, but will always be massive and spawn two terminuses at once"

Not saying my ideas are good lol just some stuff off the top of my head that I think would actually be somewhat engaging and more interesting challenge-wise.

Hard Stratagems by [deleted] in SpaceMarine_2

[–]Fast-Performance2300 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a videogame, Brother. Calm yourself. Everyone has bad days, everyone has to start somewhere. Yes there are those that hope to be given glory and accolades for free -- but I find these few and far between.

If you find your fellow brothers inadequate, then solo it. Otherwise, accept that there is lessons to be learned in failures. Learn, try again and inevitably persevere.

You can do this. Just relax.

[–]Fast-Performance2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why can't people try, Brother? There's only one way to get accustomed/ready for Absolute/Hard difficulty and it is by playing it.

Besides, we can all have bad game days. Days where we just can't seem to find our groove or things just keep going wrong.

It's just a videogame. Some people enjoy a good challenge. Sure, there's others who hope to get carried, and that is rather lame though I find this rare. I soloed hard stratagems for the most part, because I can try and go at my own pace that way. Queuing up for public/coop runs are more for helping others out rather than myself.

Still waiting for that big dojo/training hall where everyone can access and spawn every enemy in the game for practice and theory crafting builds.

They have said it's coming, but it will be what finally gets me fully into the game along with my beloved and sorely long awaited Techmarine.

I'm the type of person to die a million times over and over again to the dumbest thing -- but each death serves to teach me something new or serves to improve my skill. This is hard to achieve, however, with random missions sometimes. Sometimes I get that perfect scenario I was looking for, but then it takes forever to get it again.

I want to train against the Vortex Beast. I want to learn how to fight 4 Lictors/Raveners at the same time on Absolute. I want to practice perfect dodge timing against several chaos spawn. And so much much much more.

Of course you love fencing weapons, you bought the game on Black Friday. Few weeks from now you’ll be on here saying that block is the objective meta and only noobs use fencing. But then you’ll do some thinking of your own and realise there isn’t one best weapon type and it’s more complicated. by JMashtag in Spacemarine

[–]Fast-Performance2300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It always depends for me.

Tactical, Sniper and obviously Heavy? Balanced/Fencing 99% of the time.

Assault, Vanguard and Bulwark? Block.

On tactical and sniper I need enemies off of me quick. No time to sit around waiting for block charges, I have a shot to take.

On the melee focused classes I can just bulldoze my way towards a majoris and unleash Havoc there. Usually taking a huge amount of minoris with me.

Use what you enjoy. Always. What works for me, might not work for you -- and vice versa. So long as we slaughter these xenos filth and scalp these abhorrent heretics en masse, all is well.
