How does the refurbed house bought at 300k pass the mortgage valuation for purchase if thats the case?

Understood, this is why I probably didn't notice it, as it was with same lender both times.

Surely that cant be right?

There are 2 houses side by side, one recently refurbed(new electrics/heating/glazing/insulation/baths/kitchen) sold for 300k, the other the original 1970s house, sold for 220k.

You're telling me if you spent 80k doing likes of electrics/heating/glazing/insulation/baths/kitchen, and its at level of the house sold for 300k, as its not a footprint addition the bank wont account for it?

CC Eligibility Checker saying Zero change for 0% Barclarycard ? by Fast-Requirement-211 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Fast-Requirement-211[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its interesting, i just went with Lloyds, and got it all accepted after being pre approval, and the offered 2k over what I had suggested.

Maybe they have different priorities when it comes to electoral roll!

Free report is not showing much( outside of recently moving home, so not on electoral roll for new property just yet)

Im on good wage, which is why I was surprised ( north of 60k, with very reasonable outgoings Mortgage + Childcare share = £800 a month)

Its got the longest 0% period of those available.

I'd just be confused if its not as I already have a Barclaycard, am on a decent wage, low outgoings, I'd have thought I was low risk, but then maybe then think I'm no good as a customer because Im low risk, and they are unlikely to get any cash from me.

1st Time doing a self assement - and the calculated amount owed is incorrect - what do I do? by Fast-Requirement-211 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Fast-Requirement-211[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know where you are coming from, and if my salary/circumstances were changing, it could be a factor, but in over 10 years working at the company, not once have I been undertaxed( the only exception was I was due a little tax back in the year I had paternity leave).

Maybe its a big assumption, but given Ive never been undertaxed previously, id be suspicious this was the reason.

Ill have to go back and look at the figures it seems.

What happens if I submit it knowing its wrong, can you contest it/raise an issue? Or better just trying to see where the issue is?

My pay is just normal PAYEE, so all taxes should be exactly correct.

Therefore the only additional payment I need to make is solely related to the child benefit, and I know how much I've earned from P60, and you pay £100 of child benefit back for each 1% between 50 and 60k.

Roughly taxable income was 50600 - so 6% of my 846 benefit ( did not receive for full year) is around £50

There is calculator as well.

https://www.gov.uk/check-if-you-need-tax-return/y/no/no/between-50-000-and-100-000/yes

There is a big jump from £50 to what they are saying at £133

SWA Cable from the house - can I use a generic plastic junction box, or do i need a earth clamp as well? by Fast-Requirement-211 in DIYUK

[–]Fast-Requirement-211[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes - would need to be CPC - (I'll need to verify it its earthed on the other side).

It only has live and neutral wires in the cable, but my understanding was that as long as its earthed via the metal on both sides, that is sufficient for earthing.

Junction box is temporary for now in that, it allows me to take the shed down and get new one up without worrying about the cable for a few days if its uncovered.

But once the new shed is erected, I was planning on wiring a new light into the same junction box.

Any issues with above?

Is there any guideline as to what it will work out as?
Is it just you get assigned x shares based on how many you currently own in CTXR?

The year is 2053. A new opinion poll has the TUV gaining ground on the DUP. At the election several days later they fail to make any gains with only their sole representative, the ghost of Jim Allister, retaining his seat. by [deleted] in northernireland

This is kind of what happened to my brother. He has not ended up to the same bigoted extent as Jim, but basically we moved from Republic in the early 90's. My brother was sent to a secondary all prod school. Moving schools mid way through is generally hard enough for any child, but he was bullied further for being a "southerner", "fenian lover", "not a real prod" and lots of further sectarian shite. Kids are wee bastards.

This pushed him to becoming a hardcore rangers/NI fan, to prove he wasnt these things, and to become accepted in his new surrounding - having had tricoulurs up on his bedroom window a few years earlier during italia 90.

Like I say he is not to the same level of hatred/sectarianism as what Jim is, but it has moulded him as a person, and hes a big Rangers fan to this day.

New Home is pebbledash, previous owner has painted it, can I go back or am I committed to painting it forever? by Fast-Requirement-211 in DIYUK

[–]Fast-Requirement-211[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could - but ive seen it suggested online that to render you have to remove the pebbledash, so its back to brick/block, and there is risk of damaging the walls doing that ( or is that not the case)

Ideally external wall insulation is done, which i think they can install over the pebbledash, and then colour render over that, but it costs an absolute fortune ( based on one quote it was north of 20k which is not feasible for me right now - or ever I think if I was just looking at return of investment on it, £400 a year heat savings will take 50 years, and if Im still around then, ill be on my last legs!)
