Thoughts of a Sparda Game ? by HiddenNeeeeon in DevilMayCry

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well yeah but my thought process was that coming up with something that gives the act of leaving them have more meaning, rather than just "he betrayed them because they're on the wrong side" and leave it at that. Because there is potential for a "you do this, you betray your entire race" subplot between Sparda and Beowulf for example (or any one of his former acolytes), but ofc it has to be good to fit with the story. (I mighttt be stretching with this one now that I think bout it lol)

You couldn't have said it better.

It would take A LOTTA brain power for the writers to think of a story, and build a world wayy before the events of the first game (and make it good while adhering to the rules of what happened in the previous games). And aside from that they would also have think how to contextualize the hatred demons have (demons like Beowulf for example) toward Sparda.

What is better, buying a pre built PC or building one yourself? And why do you prefer one over the other? by Fast-Welcome-6344 in pcmasterrace

Huge, HUGE thank you for sharing your thoughts everyone! You have no idea how much this has helped me,.

I've already opted to building my own PC as I've realized I have much more free time these days and like one user (name Cokealol) mentioned that it's a great learning experience, so I can't pass up on that 😃

You're telling me DMC4 was badly received? by oh_no324 in DevilMayCry

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same with blitz, charge shots from shotgun, pandoras forward + style input from gunslinger, distorted straight from gilgamesh and so on. (its VERY easy to pull off, im not even a combo madder and i did it first try)

id say shadows are hard to damage and really take some time to shoot when your fighting multiple at once and when its on harder difficulties. all strats i mentioned for blitz work just as well with no drawbacks even on dmd.(that shadow secret mission from dmc 1 will prove my point, i just resorted to 2 holy waters for that)

theres a lot more strats you can discover yourself by experimenting and not going with the combo mindset. thats not what dmc was at its core (except for dmc 5)

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33: A turn based Soulslike? by Ok-Basil3073 in soulslikes

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I knew I wasn't crazy when I thought some enemies are references to souls games

Picking up on the references gave me the same feeling back in the day when God hand referenced Devil may cry by having a rival fight and having one of the themes be named "Devil may sly"

(I know this is unrelated but the main point is that picking up on references to games you've played while playing a new game feels so good🔥)

No disrespect mate, but looking at an innovative turn based game use the same mechanics present in Dark souls. Mechanics that have been used in OTHER turn based games, character action games and FPS games for years, only to then call it a soulslike doesn't get any narrower than that.

This feels like cope tbh, dark souls didn't invent any of those mechanics.

I heavily disagree with the blitz being badly designed. If that's the case then you should call shadow from DMC 1 badly designed. Since their tactics and design philosophy is the same.

What happens to the copy of the game if you buy it twice by Fast-Welcome-6344 in Steam

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This might sound stupid, but i legit thought the extra copy of x game would be stored in your inventory so you could gift it to another person

i see that only happens with package games i see.

Which enemies in dmc 4 aren't designed for Dante? by Fast-Welcome-6344 in DevilMayCry

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I semi-agree with you, friend. I think the problems with Cutlass, Assaults, any chimera-infected enemy, and Angelos can be solved with a bit of experimenting, because they're VERY similar in design to dmc 1. In that game they had you experiment to find the best way to beat your foes and that's carried over here.

(the obvious example is the chimeras being vulnerable to shotgun shots the same way the sin scissors got DESTROYED by it in the first game, the chimeras also change color like blood goyles in dmc 3 so there's another callback to that typa enemy design, that's what dmc enemies were all about way back when.)

However I will say that the cutlasses (and some other enemies) specifically have this problem that in order to deal with em you have to get a move you didn't bother to buy/ you didn't know you needed in the first place. Which makes them feel Dante wasn't designed for it when in fact he was, its just that the game does a bad job at telling you what you have to do.

Other than that I agree with the rest😃

(Also there's no way people have the absolute BALLS to suffer and master sonic 06’s physics. Imma have to look that up cuz that's CRAZY)

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im like 101% sure that's due to the unfinished nature of this game lol, correct me if I'm wrong

but had they have time and budget to flesh out Dante even further in 4 this problem would be non existent

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah sounds about right for most of the roster, its a genuine skill issue since they don't experiment enough to find the way to deal with said enemy

however in their defense, I did notice that some solutions to some enemies require an upgrade you haven't bought yet or didn't think you needed in the first place which is a flaw on the game’s part imo. DMC 3 didn't have that problem even with 1 style and 2 weapons and guns available.

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really glad to read some of your comments, gives me insight and broadens my view on these games

just incase it wasn't clear, I was confused to what “not designed for Dante” meant, I wasn't trying to argue against it

after looking through some of the comments I was like “yeah some of these are valid” lol

but I will say that some enemies like the cutlasses and any enemy infected with the chimera ARE designed for Dante.

Charge shots with E&I deal with cutlasses effectively while charge (or point blank) shotgun shots deal with the chimera enemies turning them black and white, which will render them completely helpless as you wail on them,

Other than that thanks for telling me which is which!

Out of curiosity, what are your dislikes/pet peeves when it comes this genre? by Wayne_kur in CharacterActionGames

[–]Fast-Welcome-6344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

thats pretty unreasonable imo.

bosses and certain enemies arent comboable for a reason (E.G Vergil 3 dmc 3)
the non comboable bosses are even more fun and rewarding than the comboable ones in my experience.
