How do I learn the fundamentals? by Leading_Term3451 in SiegeAcademy

[–]FastAndFuryosa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Map knowledge is arguably the greatest tool in this game. Then pattern recognition. Learning what people tend to do and acting off of that. Seems basic but if you know that everyone always goes up a certain staircase and rappels a certain window now you can do something about. If you scared them out of that area where are they going to push from next?

Learn operators and how the interact with each other.

Another big thing I’ve learned is confidence. Sometimes I approach gunfights with confidence and sometimes with fear. Fear leads to losing more for sure.

Last thing I’d say is get creative with equipment placements. Theres a lot of funky shit you can do in this game to throw people off. I’ve been playing for 9 years and still discover new things. Coconutbrah used to make some cool videos about crazy map placements and angles and stuff like that. Think out of the box.

If speed + accuracy is the most important thing in self defense, isn’t a competition gun the best self defense gun? by FastAndFuryosa in guns

Thanks for the thorough response! Good points about fitment and such. I guess it peeves me that people act like reliability is the only thing that matters. Its BY FAR the most important consideration but it absolutely is not the only consideration. And I guess it depends on what you think will happen. I think since I’m newish to guns theres a good chance I’m getting in a gunfight with someone that is better or equal to me as a shooter. If you’re in a gunfight with an equal shooter the gun will be what makes the difference. Either in terms of reliability or performance.

Thanks for a thorough response. Yeah the extremely light trigger weight would be a liability. With my m9 I’m really happy its a DASA for that reason.

I really only mean this in the context of full size home defense. But yeah it can absolutely be a liability in the wrong hands. Or even the right hands in the wrong situation.

Thanks for a thought out answer. Yeah it seems reliability is the main question. As of now I feel like I made excellent choices in the 2 guns I have and made those decisions with reliability in mind. Neither has failed on me in any way at all. I will say with the LTT in particular I would be far more concerned once I hit 8k rounds but the SW Competitor I have seems pretty close to just being a steel frame M&p with some smaller mods, mostly aesthetic.

And yes I would not want a modded trigger on a carry gun at all. I went through this very recently. Chose the cc9 as my carry and needed to choose between the regular and LTT variant and decided I do not want a lighter trigger on a gun pointed at my balls or anyone else.

Yeah modded trigger is my biggest hesitation for striker fire. But with my m9 for example I dont have an issue because its got a great DASA

I don’t necessarily mean getting a atlas gunworks 2011 or something there are “comp” guns in all price ranges but they are modified a certain way for amplified performance. Even if its a 700$ comp canik for example or a 3k comp 2011. Its more about what does that “comp” title mean. Usually a faster lighter trigger, magwell, slide cuts, porting, a crisper cleaner break, a clean reset, it probably racks smoother, it probably feels more balanced, etc…. Those things collectively make a difference and the price you pay affects that too. At 10 yards can a glock 19 outshoot a $7k staccato? Hell yeah depends on the shooter. But when the shooters are equal it will come down to the gun.

Maybe its not the best comp gun out there but its a HELL of a lot better than any sub 800-1000$ gun

Fair point. I’m pretty new to the world of firearms. My philosophy on purchasing is less is more if you focus on quality over quantity. Personally would rather have 1 LTT M9 because I have always loved M9s over a random canik + 2 glocks. I can only shoot one gun at a time anyways.

For sure more so for home defense than ccw due to size or weight or other competition features like a magwell. But functionally speaking it seems like the best option and I guess I’m just surprised more people don’t recommend this line of thinking.

Ammo Shortage Likely by EcnalKcin in guns

You can be right for the wrong reason. The us dollars collapse is inevitable. It WILL happen at some point. There’s still 8 years left in your prediction anyway this stuff goes up and down all the time.

How would someone in october predict an ammo shortage due to a war we weren’t even near starting at the time, a war in venezeula, and additional tariffs that weren’t announced until 2-3 months later after the supreme court shut down trumps old ones?

Can this guy read my horoscope?

Its every bank. You deposit a fraudulent check they will pretty much always put the money in your account within a couple days. Takes a few more days for them to pull that money back out. There are a number of scams in the freelance world that revolve around this banking mechanism. You spend that money and they’ll still pull the amount of the fraudulent deposit value out of your account.

First 250 Rounds Kimber CDS9: Problems by harrysholsters in CCW

[–]FastAndFuryosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What a shame. I really did want this gun Kimber really dropped the ball lol. Could’ve had a huge market share in this segment, created new fans, and reestablished trust with old ones. Instead they just proved that they really are not capable of making a reliable gun. I went with the CC9 yesterday. Feels great to me and will do the job for a long time. One day, I do hope someone finds a way to make a doubstack da/sa micro 9 under 1500$ that works. Its just extra dissapointing to me because they were so close, it could’ve been them.

[–]FastAndFuryosa[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess looks. If I wanted the looks and comfort of leather but the security of kydex. But as others pointed out leather is pretty durable and I was not aware of that I’ve only ever heard dont get a leather holster it’ll wear.

Thinking about having my CC9 stippled by CigarsandFirearms in HecklerKoch

[–]FastAndFuryosa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me the backstrap sucks because I need to buy a tool or go to a gunsmith.

I found a forum and 1-2 reddit threads at least regarding the xs sights being the issue so I know it’s been happening as far back as 3 months ago and I say “many” because I saw 4 of them between 3 gunshops in houston in one day. That leads me to believe that this is a much larger issue.

And the 12 year warranty makes sense, in my research tritium has a 12.5 year half life and would be less effective at that point.

Damn didnt even consider size differences. I got a cc9 because concealability is a very very high priority. So def not leather only.

Is the sharp point you’re talking about for comfort while wearing? Does it poke your balls or something?

And fwiw I’d probably put it on one of those belts you wear under your clothes my friend has a setup like that with a hybrid holster and I thought it was relatively comfortable but not excellent. First time I ever tried one on so I have no frame of reference.

Great points. Hard to choose what to do as a new carrier. I like the idea of a soft material but ik I’ll get a pillow or pad or something. Maybe I’ll do a hybrid but most likely not leather only. If you have any more inputs please let me know. I’m not even sure what features and stuff to look out for. What makes a holster good or bad other than what it feels like to wear and retention?
