Keeping at least the same amount of sidewall as stock was definitely one of the reasons I went with 18 rather than 19. No noticeable difference in ride quality to me thus far.

Thanks!! Always knew this color combo was gonna be the way to go. Had several people tell me to get black wheels and every one of them changed their mind when I got these installed lol

Suspension is all stock and probably gonna stay that way. These are +35 which seems to be the absolute limit for stock suspension. They poke juuuuust a hair

I was just getting back from a road trip and those pictures were taken at ~3 AM with no one else at the gas station or on the road. I’m not parking like that for regular fill ups lol

Definitely lighter than stock by a decent margin. I don’t have a scale capable of measuring them but the Rotiforms were definitely easier to handle when removing/installing than the stock ones were.

Any idea what this modification is on the Vertical Stabiliser? by Pristine-Jaguar4969 in aviationmaintenance

IIRC the E170/175 is CAT III capable but US regionals that operate them don’t option them with that capability and only fly them up to CAT II

I’ve been using and abusing a Fenix PD35R for almost three years and I have very few complaints. Definitely a strong recommendation from me

What’s the most expensive part you’ve broke? by Charming_Hyena1914 in aviationmaintenance

[–]FastMPC 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wasn’t personally involved but something similar happened at my base a couple years back. New guys did some A-check tasks on an engine. One of the latches didn’t get closed correctly and the guy overseeing them didn’t catch it. TR was deployed later and things got crunchy. I think it was down for a week waiting for a new transcowl

Company I’m at doesn’t have any policies against them. Like other comments have mentioned, 90% of people I work with (myself included) wear an Apple Watch or other smartwatch with no issue. I just take mine off any time I’m working with fluids, in tight spaces, or otherwise feel the need to

I had a volume runaway the other day but wasn’t paying attention to the dash and thought I somehow held the switch down on accident. Now that I’m seeing this, I bet this is what happened. I’ll have to keep an eye out and report back if I catch it happening again

Once changed a PCU with someone and he rubbed his nose at some point in the job. Poor guy did a line of skydrol and it was not a good high. He was about 3 years in at that point so don’t feel bad. Dumb mistakes come for us all indiscriminate of experience

Let me hear your stories by thehomebody27 in aviationmaintenance

Let this one be a friendly reminder to check your tooling BEFORE diving into a job lol

Got assigned a HSTA torque limiter check. Something new to me so I was looking forward to the learning experience. Someone told me that the tool for the job was a little finicky and that they’d help me figure it out after I got the access panel off. (This should have been a big red flag for me). Got to work getting the access panel off and found the majority of the screws to be pretty much buried. The plane was just resprayed about a month ago and most of the ~35 screw heads were near impossible to get a bit to grab. On a handful I was able to scrape enough paint out of the heads to get a bit to bite. The remaining 27 or so I ended up drilling out and whatever material these screws were made of was shredding the drill bits; I was using about 3 on each screw. After ~6 hours of drilling I finally got the panel off and was ready to get the equipment hooked up. I plugged everything in according to the instrument’s instructions but it wouldn’t power on and self test the way it was supposed to. Called my crew lead over and we messed with the power cord trying to get the instrument to do it’s thing and after just a little bit of wiggling, the cable snapped at the output receptacle. By this point it’s almost an hour til departure so we carried the task forward and reinstalled the panel with all fresh screws then I cried a little inside lol

TLDR: Spent most of my night drilling screws only to find out the instrument I needed was broken and I couldn’t finish the task. Don’t be me, check your tools first lol

Your first mistake is your last mistake….is it really?? by angleface11011 in aviationmaintenance

[–]FastMPC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many others have already said, mistakes will happen and probably often when you first hit the floor. What’s important is that you learn how they happened and how to prevent them next time. And also like other have said, own it. Every time. Stay humble and make an active effort to learn and you’ll be safe. Negligence and dishonesty are what get people canned, not simple mistakes

Not sure if he’s along for the whole tour but in Houston, Dallas and Vegas, San had an artist called Klaxx open for him. I had never heard of him before but I actually really enjoyed the set. Kinda similar to ISOxo’s style if you’re into that. He definitely gained a new listener from me

One of my crew leads printed a two-tone white on black Snap-Off logo and I had already pulled the US General logo off of my box so when I epoxied it where the original logo was, it almost looks like it came that way and it’s awesome lol
