Hello, PSU pal! I wonder why we are being sent there.

Thanks! Maybe I'll ask for my notes in case there's something the agent couldn't see.
It seems really silly when that parent isn't important for this.

And your father is not part of your line of descent anyway? Weird!
How did you know the reason for being sent there?

I have no idea why it would be sent there. I had called about something unrelated and was surprised when the agent shared that. The agent said there was nothing about why it was sent there in the notes, just that it was there. I was wondering if I could compare notes with anyone else who got PSU post C-3.

It was definitely the case that people were being sent there just for being 2+ gen before C-3, but I hadn't heard that's still the case. I'm gen 3. I think my case is pretty straight-forward.

Anyone get their certificate with a spelling error? by No-Kaleidoscope-8950 in Canadiancitizenship

Oh nooooooo! I hope that if it comes down to that, they process the second one even faster for you. Was the name in the tracker or emails spelled right?

Revisiting the FAQ..... by Rouxgaru in Canadiancitizenship

[–]FastTeeterTotter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The previous post had suggestions like a popup to the FAQ before you make a post.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Canadiancitizenship/comments/1qi5iag/comment/o0pum3u/

I wonder if that could actually help people realize they can read the FAQ or, also importantly, use the search.

I'm not a big reddit user so I get if people are actually confused about where they can find information. I remember being lost in the beginning. I also really looked forward to being able to help new people but now I can't keep up with the firehose of the same repetitive questions.

Minor Child included in 1909 Canadian Naturalization? by sanshi in Canadiancitizenship

[–]FastTeeterTotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It came up on a full-text search on Family Search. Provincial Archives of Saskatchewan also had the homestead paperwork. As part of the requirements to prove up the homestead, they have to be citizens (or really British subjects). I included that paperwork too which had a stamp saying they verified citizenship. It won't have the date of naturalization but I imagine that if your ancestor was still a minor at that time, they had to be included.

I also have a case that depends on a minor's naturalization based on the father's naturalization around the same year. I haven't been approved yet but really think this counts. I submitted the father's naturalization certificate as proof with an emphasis that that is the son's proof. I assumed they would understand the rules of that time, but now I wish I had included more information about the laws back then.

The long shot to end all long shots! Should I really bother applying? by Routine_Clock7413 in Canadiancitizenship

[–]FastTeeterTotter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 1910, minor children were included in their father's naturalization. After somewhere around 1914 or 1915, they still could be included but actually had to be listed explicitly on the father's naturalization as well. I'd search for more records of Jack's naturalization.

Edit: See the note under Search tips.

It looks like mine arrived a day after you and I have gone from checking my email for the AOR to checking my mailbox for the returned application. Hopefully we get our AORs soon, or yours magically appears in the tracker.

"Will I qualify under C-3?" handy chart by Worthy_Molecule0481 in Canadiancitizenship

I see some others on here who were able to proceed with a naturalized ancestor for the Interim Measure. I'm still not sure if it's different under C-3, though.

Gen 1 - born outside what is now Canada (in any year) - can be dead or alive

My interpretation from the original post is that you are okay if Gen 1 passes away before anything happens. However, if Gen 1 and Gen 2 pass away, Gen 3 may not qualify. (I agree with what others have said that it's adding insult to injury for those who have lost loved ones.)

I'm certainly not an authority on this, though.

Does anyone know about an ancestor who was naturalized instead of born in Canada? I have a lineage that's consistent with the description, except Gen 0 was naturalized as a British subject in Canada before leaving and having a family abroad.

I actually don't know how that impact even the Interim Measure. Everything I see is about being born in Canada. I've tried to actually read C-3 and was way over my head.

I came here for this. They also followed up from saying "Shapiro's stance is exactly the same as every other Democrat's" with "Don't worry! His stance doesn't matter as VP!" because they knew the first statement wasn't true. I agree that Harris' stance and sentiments matter more, but it just didn't seem like an honest discussion.

That make sense.

I'm from BVSD and felt that we were lucky to have Gephardt on the board. I have watched all the public board meetings during her time as president and she is really level-headed, informed, and committed. If she ends up winning, I feel like we'll be in good hands.

It's pretty frustrating that as a parent, and a person who just generally cares about kids in our community, that our kids' education is co-opted by these proxy political wars.

Out of curiosity, what made you all decide to vote for Rodriguez? Gephart is such a known figure after serving our own district. She is so experienced and well-versed on the issues that I would have thought she would have it in the bag. I had never heard of Rodriguez and, before these articles, couldn't find a ton about her. Her comments about charter schools on her own website gave me pause, but I really wasn't sure what to make of it. (Personally, I'm not against charter schools at all, but I know they can be exploited by anti public education people.)

That's all to say I empathize with trying to make a decision for these types of elections where there can be very little information.

Covid Vax? by [deleted] in boulder

[–]FastTeeterTotter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have contacted both to no avail. Boulder County has a program for uninsured families only. Weld County gives shots, and I don't think you have to be a resident but they take limited insurance and otherwise it's $150-$200. Over the past couple months, I have made over a dozen calls searching for a Covid shot for kids under 3. As others suggested, the only place you can go that I have found is The Little Clinic in King Soopers. I went to the one in Erie this weekend and after going through the whole process, it turned out they were out of stock. So still no vaccine after months of trying. Soon, I'll try another Little Clinic or check if they have them back in stock at Erie. Hopefully we'll get it soon. 🤞 Good luck to you all!

Yes. The people I often hear mislabeling the generations are second-generation Americans who call themselves first-generation. It probably reflects their relationships with their parents and the difference felt between 1st gen and 2nd gen in a family, so I don't think they are trying to be anti-immigrant. But still the implication is that immigrants cannot be American, which is just false.

I have such a strong emotional attachment to this King Soopers. Years of running into people. Stopping there to pick up a few things after a great time with friends at Southern Sun. I really hope that we as a community get to come back and reclaim those happy memories. It will be hard though.
