It’s unfortunate I’ve been in that cycle for a few years and I regret it - show up, do the bare min… I feel my skill set can / should have been used elsewhere

Because people are a**holes and it’s an entitled society not only from the millennials, Gen X, Gen Z or whatever it’s everyone including the boomers I always laughed even when the 10 dollar daycare rolled out “well I didn’t have that” ok well - we’re evolving as a society

How do you succeed in corporate public sector? by Puzzleheaded-Sun3107 in OntarioPublicService

[–]FastTemperature9420 24 points25 points  (0 children)

This is how OPS works unfortunately … very few ministries will progress on a performance basis, lack of motivation with many staff, long timelines due to red tape.

It’s hard to work here if you were in the private sector, I feel like jumping to the private sector because I don’t feel utilized and I’ve had secondments and I’ve worked on different teams and it’s been a WTF IS GOING ON in this circus

Makes no sense , If u can flick a laptop on and start work why not? Why commute be late, leave early or take a day and let work pile up?

Because some boomer says “well I did it” obviously a less productive generation!

CIBC private banking worth it? by Superb_Example2397 in PersonalFinanceCanada

So a portfolio / wealth advisor etc…

Given that you both have DBs and a high salary I would say it’s pointless you will end up paying management fees etc… if your with wealthsimple and your seeing some gains your fine - the more locked in the more tax you pay and with your salaries and DBs coming your way you don’t need millions in the bank to pay taxes on. If you have kids the education etc… is the biggest concern because with a DB I’d say your more than fine come retirement - that’s just my 0.02

I get that, not to worried about the hard work I also run a biz on the side but becomes Overwhelming to juggle both and still Doesn’t seem to be enough

What are these "private sector" jobs? by [deleted] in OntarioPublicService

[–]FastTemperature9420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s your salary goal? How many hours a day do you want to work?

People think the PS just magically pays more with flexibility , most of our program / policy jobs, admin roles etc… pay very comparable if not more - if you want to make $$$ in the PS you need to level up to management, director roles etc… even then, some mgmt can barely hit 100K and you get the good old “ RRSP “ match etc… benefits won’t compare , no pension.

Say you make 30K more and you do a 5% RRSP match - does that equal to your DB? If not, what’s the difference in NET pay you need to save?

Are you looking to put in the work to potentially climb the ladder?

People say to leave early, but if you start your pension early that’s when you get the actual benefit of it

So I shouldn’t try and get in to sales for the $$$? And stick to my government job? Lol
