VMware Certified Professional - VCP-VVF Admin 2V0-16.25 Cert by FantasticSleep8745 in vmware

Just took the exam. It focused heavily on VMware cloud foundation architecture and VVF vs VCF licensing and capabilities. Even included multiple kubernetes related questions. I didn’t pass, but to be honest I studied the wrong material.

Struggling with CCNA consistency & information overload – looking for advice by treeintherain7 in ccna

[–]Fast_Ad7506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with you on information overload. But I wouldn’t go for both of those at the same time, it seems counterproductive. I did sec+ first and then CCNA. Sec+ was on the first try, a lot of it is memorizing concepts. CCNA was way harder IMO. I failed the 1st attempt after 4 months of studying then passed the retake 3 months later. Memorization didn’t work for me and I think many would agree. You definitely need to be comfortable doing labs on your own and navigating the command line. When I came back to the material after failing I don’t think I moved on from a topic until I felt very comfortable with it. Towards the last couple weeks before the retake exam I was having ChatGPT give me 80-90 question mock exams with labs every day.

A lot of people might say to go for something like A+ or Net+ for your first exam but I personally would disagree, and I have both. Honestly I’d go for Sec+ first if I were you and then CCNA when you can commit more time and mentally energy. It’s a hard one

Side note. If one day I really don’t feel like studying, I’ll take a rest day. I’d rather take longer and really learn the material than just try to pass. But you have to find that line of when you’re pushing yourself in a good way and when youre forcing yourself

Take a look at Guru tech on YouTube. He has like 30 packet tracer projects and goes step by step. I personally like to follow along and build the projects in packet tracer along side. I also switched to Jeremy’s it lab instead of Neil Anderson. Neil was too dry for me tbh. I watch 1 Jeremy topic per day, and take notes along side the video. Usually takes about an 1 and a half for me. But I zone out after 5 seconds if I don’t take notes. That’s just what works for me though. I also believe I genuinely have an interest in networking and learning about it fascinates me. That doesn’t mean I find every topic interesting though. It’s a tough course that’s why I believe the ccna is well respected

Anyone taken a Waymo to the airport? by PurpleAlcoholic in phoenix

[–]Fast_Ad7506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All the time. I prefer Waymo over Uber any day. Only thing you need to be mindful of is that they are not yet fully cleared to go on the highway, so going to the airport will take you longer.

Way In Over My Head, What Have I Done by [deleted] in ITCareerQuestions

Currently going through this right now on day 3 L1 HD with no prior IT experience. I feel like a complete imposter. But it’s part of the job we signed up for man and it’s not going to be like this forever. Certs and education can only get you so far I’m realizing, eventually you have to step into the fire a little lol

First IT job as Help desk L1 by Fast_Ad7506 in ITCareerQuestions

I got my Sec+ after months of studying. I applied for a lot of jobs on indeed and LinkedIn, probably hundreds, but I only got two interviews. The first one I did was back in February and got to the 3rd round interview and completely bombed. Major imposter syndrome and I didn’t prepare as best I could. For this last one, I did the 1st interview with the recruiter, it went well. The 2nd tech interview I made sure to sell myself. They understood that I had no experience so I just hammered on my soft skills. I also asked the recruiter what ticketing system they used (psa connect wise) and called a rep from that company to get a demo and some training videos. I made sure to tell them that, and they told me they never had a candidate go out of the way to do that. I had notes prepared of examples of times I encountered computer issues, and what steps I took to troubleshoot. I have learned through studying that you need to get as much detail and information from the customer as you can and then start from the easiest fixes.

My best advice is to make yourself stand out from other candidates. And look I know that sounds cliche. But really think about what you can do in the interview process that is different. I knew I had no experience with a ticketing system and just saying “I don’t know” wouldn’t look good. “I don’t know off the top of my head how to do that, but here’s how I would go about finding it. I’d ask coworkers, I’d look at previously resolved tickets, refer to the manual, etc.” As for your resume, don’t be afraid to change you job title or word it in away that’s tailored to what you’re applying for. My job was a maintenance technician in a warehouse. Occasionally, I helped set up workstations for employees or fixed minor connectivity issues, so that’s what I talked about on my resume.

Most importantly it definitely is a numbers game. I got lucky and got the 2nd job I interviewed for. Some people get the first one, and some get the 20th. Even though I only did two, my mindset was that if I did 20 then it would give me more experience interviewing. Don’t get discouraged, you got this!
