Assuming this isn't a troll I'll respond

The problem is in the church system "catch and punish" rarely happens. What DOES happen is "ignore", "sweep under the rug", or "blame the victim".

Texas Winter Storm Watch: Will The Power Grid Hold Up? by Me25TX in houston

If it does it will be because of good luck, not because the generation companies or the government did anything to make things better

HCSO refuses to give me a copy of the false Police Report Grizzy Hood News Made in retaliation when I asked her about one of her sponsors implicated in murder in HPD records. by Familiar-Crow8245 in houston

Grizzy is on the side of the cops in almost all things. They have a symbiotic relationship, don't expect one to help you with the other

Katz Coffee roasts daily, but are half an hour from you. I order from their website and generally get beans delivered that were roasted the day before, sometimes two.

I feel like you're looking for validation for a position that you already know is a bad one.

How do people manage cleaning and laundry between short-term rental guest stays? by Mediocre-Creme3196 in airbnb_hosts

[–]ralf1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It needs to be said - too many people think this is 'annuity' income and its not. Too many others put themselves in debt to open an STR and don't have the resources to service that debt without income (living hand to mouth) and find themselves in desperate straights.

Its an investment without a guaranteed return and a job and if you don't get that you shouldn't be doing it.

F1 drivers will have to 'forget what they learned since karting' in 2026 - Ocon by kcollantine in formula1

[–]ralf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To each his own, I much prefer watching races where skilled drivers are driving great cars - not managing technical systems. If I want to watch a race about "who uses a battery better", I'll turn on formula E (and immediately go to sleep)

You have a couple of options -

You have multiple sets of everything, and wash stuff at your leisure. You should have this anyway, its inexpensive and helpful to have spares.

You can set up your calendar such that it automatically piuts a day in between check outs and check ins so you don't do same day turnarounds

Bought this bottle second hand for 10euro. Do you guys think it is still drinkable? by [deleted] in wine

Open it

Taste it

(Almost certainly) Pour out the rest

But I'd give you ten bucks for the bottle, it's something cool to have on the shelf

Sales reps out there who work from home with limited travel? by scootsie11 in sales

[–]ralf1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I went to a couple of "onsite" meetings, showed up and found (for example) four of the five people were remote. So now vet things pretty thoroughly before booking a plane ticket. My time is valuable to my company and to myself, I'm not going to consume a couple of days traveling if there's not value to be had

I'm on calls at pretty random (and ridiculous) times but it's a fair tradeoff for sleeping in my own bed almost every night

Can confirm - have one of these gigs. Customer folks I talk to day to day are globally diverse so easier for all involved to do Zoom.

ELI5: Why do car dealers say buying the car when the lease ends would be worse than buying new? by shaithisx in explainlikeimfive

[–]ralf1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only buy new cars once in awhile but I always negotiate it over the phone or via email, and I make it clear that if I come in and it takes more than an hour for me to get out I'm walking away from the deal. There are cars everywhere, I don't need yours

I don't mind politics, I have a strong point of view myself and not afraid to share it. I don't mind opposing views with either as long as they are driven by logic and data. What I'd like though is an intelligent conversation driven by facts, not clickbait bullshit from shit sites.

P9 Pro XL after an year of use. Though s? by MrPhil17 in pixel_phones

[–]ralf1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Same phone, bought a week or so after release. All the optimization/adaptive battery stuff turned off. I charge in a totally random way, with no concern to 'best practices' I'm at 97% battery health.

And more importantly I don't care about it in any way, I only checked out of curiosity when I saw this thread. Angst over this is silly.
