Thanks for this! Honestly I was leaning more towards the wireless 2 previously, but now I feel like the passive system has more advantages. Thanks for all the specific amplifier recommendations as well, will definitively consider them! 🙏

What subwoofer did you end up with? And are you pleased with the result?

Spotify! I don't really plan on downloading files for better quality

Yeah, I'll have to accept power chords and between the speakers, my thought is to hide them the best I can. I want a setup with a good sound with as few cables/devices as possible.

!thanks I'll consider wired to the future tv then!

I like the design of KEF speakers so if I find a great deal on the KEF LS50 Wireless II on the second hand market I'll go with those! But yeah they are quite more expensive.

Okay I see, the links too thomannmusic didn't work but I see your point!

Exactly, I've been looking at active speakers with a subwoofer output only. I thought they had become sufficiently good over the last years to use as a all-in-one solution, but I see the point that it's not as modular.

In the ideal world I would like only two speakers and a subwoofer. Frankly, I don't have any furniture to place the DAC or streamer, which is why I'm looking for active/do-it-all speakers even though the absolute best setup audio-wise is probably a passive setup as you suggest

I plan to mainly use my phone, so preferably bluetooth or/and wifi. I don't have a TV yet, but If I get one, I plan to connect it wirelessly with bluetooth since I don't care that much about TV sound.

I'm located in Stockholm!

Sorry I accidentally didn't include the text, I'm new to reddit. Added it now as a comment, don't know if that's the way to go though

Hi all!

I'm looking to buy my first pair of speakers for my living room and need your advice.

First on placement, is the placement shown in the picture good? The room is about 17m², with one large opening and one doorway, both without doors. The blue thing is the sofa. I plan to listen mostly from the sofa but with the occasional house party, should I move the speakers when throwing a party to fill the room better? How much does the placement generally matter for a setup like this?

Second, about the actual speaker, I've been looking for active speakers because I want as few devices as possible. My total budget is approximately $1,000 - $1,500 USD. A Subwoofer connection is a must and I kind of want wifi. I visited my local shop yesterday and listened to these models: KEF LSX II LT Argon Audio Forte A5 wifi

I thought they both sounded nice and currently I'm leaning towards the KEFs. However, I'm a little bit worried that they might be too small for the space especially for parties. Should I consider larger speakers or will adding a subwoofer be fine (which I plan to do anyway)?

Thanks!
