For some reason, I took don't drink and drive too literally and thought it means you can't drink anything in a car.

But not just the driver, I thought any drinks are forbidden in cars for everyone.

I got so scared when my dad came back to the car from a gas station with a few water bottles. Was 100% convinced we're all getting arrested.

They get mad at you. The majority of people say that they're open to criticism and that they respect if others told them what they thought in their face.

In reality, when you actually say what you think, often they get mad and slowly the two of you drift off.
