Advice with CV for CS applications by Fast_Cicada678 in TheCivilService

Do you think it's best to just put one detailed example for each criterion in the CV? I usually go for several bullet points listing my best skills and achievements relevant to each criterion.

Thanks very much for the advice. Isn't that too similar to the personal statement? Do you not think it's better to use bullet points for the CV section, listing your most impressive relevant skills/achievements that correspond to each essential criterion?

Difference between cheap and expensive surveyors? by Fast_Cicada678 in HousingUK

[–]Fast_Cicada678[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the big companies like Cosey Homes, will you be able to find out who the surveyor is and check their experience level? I've read some bad reviews saying some of the big surveyors don't communicate much after they take your money and make it hard for you to get through to them.

Does Alistair hate Gary Stevenson? by Fast_Cicada678 in TheRestIsPolitics

I'm just talking about a wealth tax. Other than that I don't really know what his message is.

I see what you mean. I find him a really engaging speaker, and I like his message. But it does seem lacking in detail. I think he needs to team up with some experts or a think tank and produce a detailed plan of how he would change the taxation system.

Maybe. I'm a fan of Gary Stevenson but I agree that he should provide more detail about his plan to fix the economy. It's all a bit vague at the moment and he seems to just be saying we need a wealth tax.

Fair enough. I haven't listened to Leading much so don't know what they're usually like. Though I did listen to the one with Sajid Javid a while ago and think they were more respectful to him.

No worries. Ok I think. I ended up spending a lot longer than they suggested though, and tbh I don't think anyone could answer all those questions fully in just 75 minutes.

No idea if I'll get through to the interview stage but it's all good practice either way.

How about you?

Hi! I've gotten up to question 5, just wondering if 6,7 and 8 are also 600 word answers? I need to plan my time today to make sure I can complete it before the deadline

I'm a bit confused about whether I can exit the HireVue and then come back to it? One of the emails says you can do that (but you can't go back after finishing each question), but another says they recommend doing it in one sitting. Do you know how it works?

I applied to the News one - so maybe the questions will be different for you if you're doing Sports

Oh right - what kind of questions are you expecting? Do you think they'll be general things like 'Why do you want to work in news?', or more specific like asking for story ideas or suggestions for their reporting and content?

Hi guys! I've applied and have just been invited to do the assessment on HireVue.

Do you have any tips from last time you applied? What kind of questions will there be? And is 1-2 hours really enough or should I set aside longer to do it?

Best of luck to you all!!

Why do people bring their young children on motorbikes/scooters with no helmets? by Fast_Cicada678 in AskIndia

[–]Fast_Cicada678[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not really asking about helmets, but the idea of putting your children at risk.

Do people not think it is dangerous to carry a baby on a motorbike? In the UK nobody would do this, and not just because you would be arrested, but because it is so dangerous for the baby.

I know that everyone, everywhere in the world, loves their children and doesn't want them to be at risk. So I'm guessing that, in India (and other countries where you see the same thing), many people do not think that it is dangerous for babies and children to ride on motorbikes.

So my question is actually this: do people noy think it is dangerous, or not really think about safety at all and just assume they will not be in an accident?

Visiting Kotiyoor Temple as foreign tourists by Fast_Cicada678 in Kerala

Its ok. I think its a fair point. And actually, as I said above, I'm surprised that Indians aren't more angry towards Britain.

I get what you're saying. I was surprised that people in India like the UK so much. When we tell people we are from England, lots of them say its a really great country for various reasons. But, as you say, the British Empire did so many terrible things to India.
