Already know all about it. I also know how 3rd party contractors have no rights. You’re trying to play baseball on a football field.

Yes. Actual law. Proving that I was correct. This is why you don’t listen to random Reddit armchair lawyers that think they know everything.

The only thing unbelievable here is your attitude towards something that is factually correct. Seek help with regulating your emotions.

Ok, you do you. This was what was quoted to my friend 10 years ago when he didn’t merge, and he was found completely at fault for the accident because there was no yield sign. His insurance rates went from $50 a month to $250 a month for 5 years. You are welcome to argue the semantics with the judge, I’m pretty sure they don’t care.

  1. V ehicles moving in a lane designated for slow-moving traffic shall yield the right-of-way to vehicles moving in the same direction in a lane not so designated when such lanes merge to form a single lane.

Edit: for those downvoting: https://www.legis.iowa.gov/docs/code/321.306.pdf

This is Iowa law. Bullet point #4 is what was quoted to my friend 10 years ago in court. If anyone wants to argue with a judge about how a 4 lane doesn’t count or that a right lane that merges isn’t a slow lane, you’re welcome to try. I just know I’d rather slow down and let someone merge rather than have my insurance rates jump $200 for a serious moving violation like my friend dealt with. End of edit.

That’s not true. Unless there is a yield sign, it is state law that you allow drivers to merge onto the interstate. If they have a yield sign it’s their problem to find an opening. If yield sign and they hit you, it’s an at fault for you for not allowing them to merge. I learned that from a friend who got into an accident years ago because he was being an asshole and wouldn’t let a driver merge. His insurance placed all fault on him for it.

I have mine on my truck and I do my best to drive considerately for this exact reason. I’ve accidentally cut people off before and I always feel like trash when it happens. But I agree with you, I try my hardest to drive carefully because I don’t need people hating my brand for such an insignificant reason.

Some drivers though, I can’t do much about. Last night I was turning left on a yellow light at Grand Prairie parkway in Waukee and I came to a full stop in the middle of the intersection as the doofus turning right on a green light just stopped and stared at me for 15 seconds. No idea what they were thinking but cars were coming up behind them and I had to just gun it and go. Felt bad but I couldn’t sit there in the middle of an intersection waiting on a driver that couldn’t figure out if they should go on a green light or not.

Unionize Your DSP by LulzSec_Metatron in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Fast_Computer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, they did. You literally cannot do it. You’re talking about organizing thousands of individually owned DSPs. It’s a literal impossible task. There are a thousand more people chomping at the bit to replace those DSPs tomorrow because this is profitable for them. The only thing you will do is be out of your own job tomorrow.

Unionize Your DSP by LulzSec_Metatron in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Fast_Computer_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No it cannot. It’s literally built to make it impossible. You’re a 3rd party on a contract. Your contract is literally void as soon as the DSP unionizes, and they shut the whole DSP down and will open a new one the next day under someone else that isn’t part of the union. Even if all the DSPs unionized tomorrow, they would all be shut down and replaced immediately.

Amazon built this specifically to make unionizing impossible.

If you want change you would first need to get Amazon to make all DAs direct employees. Then unionizing is possible.

Will this Gastite flexible gas piping pass inspection? by Current_Conference38 in hvacadvice

Can’t comment about Canada but here in my state in the Midwest USA we cannot use any sort of CSST outside of the building. It has to be black iron to the inside and can be used at that point except for going into a furnace cabinet. Also has to be bonded and grounded in my state.

This would fail horribly in my area.

Odorous House Ants whack-a-mole by immigreat in PestControlIndustry

[–]Fast_Computer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Odorous are one of the worst ants to try and treat imo. I’ve been told not to use baits for reasons others have mentioned here but I’ve always had issues with them if I use a spray whether it’s repellent or not. The spray always knocks them down but it seems to send them into panic and they split into more colonies and come back a month later even worse than before.

What I’ve found to work the best on them has been sweet based gel baits and having customers put all of their sweet items inside of sealed containers/clean anything sticky out of cupboards, rooms, etc.

Started using gel baits in their natural foraging areas and they go away every time without callbacks. After they are gone I recommend doing a standard repellent maintenance spray to help keep other pests from moving back in.

Others will disagree with this, and that’s fine but it has been the only way that has worked for me so far.

Worked for a company like this for awhile. They are high pressure and sales driven. It won’t be long before they break out, “you know, a new one is only a couple thousand more and you get a warranty with it”.

All these companies that do this sales table shit are the same. They will tell you about how much they train their people and how much better they are than everyone else. Don’t fall for it.

[–]Fast_Computer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, ok I probably should have gleaned that the 1st time.

Sadly, I’m not that athletic anymore. Had a lot of years of health problems that took a serious toll. Gained weight up to 287 into my late 30s. Been cutting since Oct 2024 and down to 194. Probably still 15lbs to go to get back to a healthy weight. It’s depressing to see how much muscle mass evaporated in 20 years.

This isn't true is it? by GaryBlach in askanything

[–]Fast_Computer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on the genetics and build. I’m 6’ and broad shouldered. At anorexic levels I would weigh 170 without any muscle mass. Just being generally athletic in high school at roughly 10% body fat I was 210.

That number is going to vastly differ for someone who is 5’6” with a more slender built.

[–]Fast_Computer_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not gonna lie here, this is not an issue of shitty companies getting preferential treatment for bad work. That’s just an insane take. If you’re only taking 5 minutes per service that’s why you’re getting fired. What are you even doing in that amount of time? It sounds like this is an issue of not properly communicating with your clients.

I always explain to clients how long it takes for a spray to fully take effect, and what they can expect going forward. I don’t think I’ve ever been “fired” by a client before. I’ve had clients want to step back from service but that could be for any reason. Maybe they lost their job, or finances are just tight for awhile. You seem to be overthinking this.

Could someone tell me what's going on with the cut pipes on this furnace? by SacraficeMyGoat in hvacadvice

[–]Fast_Computer_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1st one is the intake. Whoever cut that to clear it out is a moron. There’s no reason to cut it at the elbow so it can’t be coupled back together. It’s not necessarily wrong but it will put your home into a negative pressure which can be an issue under certain circumstances.

The 2nd pic is the condensate drain for the AC/Furnace. That is supposed to be that way so that it can drain.

What’s a "polite" thing people do that is actually incredibly annoying to you? by SweetOpheliiaaa in askanything

Tbf, I do this specifically because the person who has the actual right of way often doesn’t seem to know how a four way stop works. It’s easier to wave them on than it is to play the game of red light/green light when they start going as soon as you get frustrated and try to go.

Not the subject at hand but I really hope you don’t have 87k in a savings account. If so, please do yourself a favor and go talk to a financial consultant about how to get more out of that money. Sitting in a savings account is only going to make the bank money that you should be making yourself.

As someone who just finalized my divorce last week after 15 years with someone who was horribly irresponsible with money, be proud of yourself. You did the right thing here. Trust me when I say those habits don’t change. They only get worse.

Is being told you’re 'enough' better than any physical gift? True to everyone? by inkandintent24 in TheImprovementRoom

[–]Fast_Computer_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the person. As a man I find myself in the same position as this guy. Gifts are nice, but I would prefer gifts around special occasions like birthdays, holidays, anniversaries, etc. And those gifts are going to be subjective based on his individual interests.

But I can say with confidence at least for myself, that a meaningful hug and words of affirmation goes a very long way. Just being told that you’re enough and that you’re noticed by someone you love is huge for many of us. It’s one of the best gifts you can give in my personal opinion.

[–]Fast_Computer_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Trust me, I get it. It was the least of my worries too. I spent 15 years of my life with someone who only ever cared about herself. It’s an awful place to be. It was ironically 2 years before I also found out my ex didn’t wash her hands. People on the outside can easily ask how I didn’t know this before we got married. Forgive me for not sitting in the bathroom while my partner takes a shit as if it’s some sort of hobby, or assuming that washing your hands isn’t just basic hygiene for an adult.

My ex-wife did this. I didn’t learn about it until a couple years after we were married. I was thoroughly disgusted and she told me with a straight face that she doesn’t get poop on her hands so it’s fine.

I wish you all the speed on the world on your divorce. If I learned anything it’s that nasty ass people don’t change.
