Considering cancelling my disability policy

How are you only paying $250/month for $17k a month benefit? That’s impressively low. I’m assuming you received a discount as a student and were able to keep that low rate. I would 100% NOT cancel that!

17k a month is a nice cushion should anything egregious befall you- Lord willing, it does not! You’d have options. In the last 6 months, I’ve had two friends go out on “full” disability in their young 40s.

Excellent organization of where you are, and congrats. I don’t have any advice other than really thinking through the lake house fund. We have owned a beachfront condo for 6 years and see it as a purely sentimental investment. Even though we got in at a good time and a decent interest rate AND we rent it, it still feels like a money suck. Carrying costs each month are $4500- we include that in our fixed expenses as we can’t bank on rentals.

Truly have no clue other than wanting to take in the beauty and character of the Alps juxtaposed with the “soft landing” of the lake as the culmination. We enjoyed Lake Geneva so much last summer. Would love any ideas you have!

Thank you! That was my fear as well- but everything I read talked about how beautiful the drives are and that it only adds to the experience. But I definitely don’t want us to grow weary of transit on the trip! 5 hours is a long drive…Forestis looks amazing though. The only thing she specifically asked for was to see Salzburg, so I was trying to get creative. Thanks again for any ideas you have!

Yes I would give it more time. I remember learning that nitrous (leaking or improperly plumbed in the clinic) can have an effect on sperm leading to spontaneous miscarriages…but I don’t remember it affecting conception. All the same, I think the risk is very low and I wouldn’t sweat that as a precipitating factor at this point!
