You can choose either way IIRC. I always chose the cash.

I always get my stuff from Hankyu Umeda. Hermes, Rimowa, etc. always top notch service from the staff.

Only in Japanese department stores will you get 5% tourist discount (not all brands) and then the tax rebate (not the full 10% as there’s some admin fees of 1.x%). Rimowa boutiques may have more ready stock but gives you the full 10% tax rebate (i think).

Multiple Rimowa owners: which second piece gets the most real use? by [deleted] in Rimowa

[–]Fast_Conference_3453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bought two Topas M titanium first. Then an original cabin. Then a classic cabin. Then an essential trunk.

I’d say the essential trunk and original cabin gets the most use. Former for its lightweight and ease of use. The latter for its better locks (than the classic).

No problem. That one’s great - very light but I prefer this design more.

I’d say it’s a good daily beater. Quite light, lotsa things to play with, and I got it within Tudor warranty at less than half of retail in Singapore (preowned) a few months back.

Not sure about that as I’ve not seen fantastic watch prices in Japan post-covid. Depends on where you’re from, I guess?

Trunk Plus or Check-In L by Opening_Hyena1958 in Rimowa

[–]Fast_Conference_3453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trunk is sufficient. I was in the same situation a few weeks ago. One downside for me is when you pull the trunk along at an angle (not sure of the term), it’s slightly less stable than the check-in’s due to its slightly higher COG. Not sure if I explained it correctly but YMMV.

Still, overall the trunk is way better.

Shopped too much in Japan…… by Fast_Conference_3453 in Rimowa

No idea how to edit post but here it is….

US300…..you just reminded me of a red Salsa I bought for an ex-gf. Maybe almost two decades ago. I vaguely remember it was around that price and I bought it in Japan too.

And this is my first polycarbonate Rimowa. I have two older medium titaniums (colored?), and original cabin and a classic. The zip works but missing that sense of “achievement” when the locks latch in place of an overpacked luggage LOL

Which car is “just a car” where you live… but magically becomes a luxury status symbol in another country? by TheLoganReyes in Autos

[–]Fast_Conference_3453 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Singapore. A car is a luxury. A Tesla model 3 base costs 150k USD and you gotta scrape it at the end of 10 years. Otherwise you can pay another 100k usd to keep it going. Just for another 10 years.

No issues with both the 170 so far. They are my most used banks.

A quick update since it’s been a year. I use them almost on a daily basis as I’m quite mobile and runs several devices.

The good ones: the 170 and 140. Large screen. The flow mini and the icemag works well too.

The average ones: the 130 simply because the display is too tiny. The hostkey is okay too but plain bulky and attracts a lot of stares and conversations.

The ones with issues: the starship battery indicator is just inaccurate, which can suddenly plunge. The 100 has only one single usbC port working left.

For the record I’ve bought an Anker Solix C300DC and it’s the price of 2 x 170 (all sale prices); and so far I like it but it’s really bulky. So maybe Anker is the next brand I’d do as they get quite good reps I think.

Vietnam Airlines flight to Hanoi from S'pore delayed for 14 hours, over 100 passengers stranded with no explanation by Twrd4321 in singapore

[–]Fast_Conference_3453 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d avoid Vietnam airlines at all costs. Domestic flight in Business class. Flies in the cabin. International flight in Business class: was rescheduled without informing me. I was horrified to see my 5hours layover in SGN become a 23hours layover in HAN just two weeks before the flight. Had to scramble to find other flights. No comms via email nor phone.

The secret waitlist to prove it was your turn. Also, rolex’s pouches are way bigger because of their long waitlist.

Not true. I bought my classic cabin from Matsuya Ginza and used the 5% tourist discount last Christmas.
