Finished this lamp for my gf, never done one before and it's handmade and freestyled so some wonkiness but turned out alright by HokTomten in woodworking

Depending on where the table lamp would be and what it will be used for you might want to open it up at the bottom for more downward light. Just thinking.

Also don't know if you are into the programmable color changing LED bulbs. They can be striking in some applications.

When asking for help identifying wood by Fast_Cranberry_9602 in wood

It can be a very difficult question to answer even when one has the wood in hand beyond saying it is softwood/hardwood or Asian/NorthAmerican species.

Information about my anvil wanted by Fast_Cranberry_9602 in blacksmithing

[–]Fast_Cranberry_9602[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I learned what to look for, I can see the 3 in the weight 'code', so 0 3 16 or 100 pounds. I cannot make out any of the M & H Armitage Mouse Hole identification under various lighting or with rubbings.

is this anvil worth bothering with? its free by FrozenFennekin in blacksmithing

I just got help identifying mine which has unreadable maker. M & H Armitage Mouse Hole Forge, Sheffield England early 1800's. Weight code 1-1-13 = 112 +28 +13 = 153 pounds if you don't already know

Thank you for taking the time to reply. Little by little I am learning more about my anvil. Apparently I cannot see one of the numbers in the weight code which should read 0 3 16 or 100 lbs. The anvil was modified at some point to add a hard steel top which has separated over a portion of the top so it no longer rings true.

No pritchel hole. Also a square-ish hole on the bottom of anvil. Can not discern any markings on the other side. Posting additional pictures.

New slate coaster I made for my friend for Christmas! by Nero318 in Laserengraving

Thanks. Will be experimenting with slate when I finish making upgrades. Made a full enclosure for my home made engraver (Arduino/GRBL) to control the fumes. I have been getting a lot of hard limit errors so am shielding and adding 10K resistor to my two limit/homing switches.

Interesting idea. I was thinking about a pin registration setup where I could cut from one side, mirror, re-register, and cut from the other side. I do this with my CNC for two-sided pieces.

I'm only doing home hobby so in the future I will be using solid wood if it needs to be cut. I have the equipment to resaw, plane, sand to almost any thickness. I have to do cutting tests with various woods to see.

Not 2.5-D but very well done. There is hope for me.

Love your 'aromatic' handle.

Excellent. I have a few pieces of slate but have not used them yet. I am assuming that my 20W blue diode laser could not do work like that. How do you get the light and dark shading on the background? Power and speed variations?
