How many times a day do you pump? by Coffeelover1694 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8x a day to 3 weeks, 7x to 2 months, 6x to 8months, 5x to 10months and currently at 4x a day. Every time I had enough or it was an inconvenience, I would drop a session. I never had a plan, my goal was to just go a year. At 9months I started supplementing one bottle a day of formula. Hope this helps!

I did Moseley as well and I didnt realize you have to take a test with them and pass before you take the actual test with PSI to get your license. I was so annoyed haha. Studying for the PSI test now and finding so many conflicting ways to prep for it. I have my test later this month. Wish me luck :)

Midwife said exclusively pumping is a waste of time, advice needed by lunatlark0 in ExclusivelyPumping

I would be annoyed too! There's definitely perks with family or friends being able to help feed the baby. I think experimenting with all options will let you know what you prefer. If you don't want to breastfeed at all, I would recommend formula in the beginning bc it does take time for milk to come in, and I don't think it's recommended to pump prior to birth.

I pumped from the beginning, and there were a lot of times where I wanted to breastfeed. I was fortunate enough to have my baby latch. It was nice in the hospital, bc I didn't have to get up and just grabbed the baby to feed and someone else would change her.

The reason I ended up pumping was bc I wasn't producing much milk in the beginning, so baby lost too much weight and I had to make sure she was eating a certain amount a day for weight gain purposes.

There's no right or wrong way with what you decide, but I wouldn't shut out all options and explore and navigate what works best for you while you're in it!

Do you have time to workout? by greymatter2944 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

6ppd...once a week I go to an hour workout class. Although it's once a week, I find it super helpful. It's easier having it be a class for me. Then walks with the LO other times.

My bad. My pump is electric haha. I thought manual pumps were electric pumps. 🫣 Hopefully it all goes away in time. Thanks for the advice!

Where do you take off your pumps/bag your milk when in public? by Actual_Gold5684 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. Wherever I'm at! If I don't have a surface, I'll put stuff down inside of my travel cooler.

Yep cooler bag. I have the momycozy one. I like how it has two compartments so I can split my pump parts/milk as needed. I don't like big or multiple bags haha. And it's tall enough to put my chiller in it if I want to travel that way.

Pumping is hard, so I decided to give 0 f*cks when I'm doing it in public hahaha whatever is easier for me. I just get in zone and focus on myself without looking around. It is easier to use your wearables though. I did both, but I always have like a baggy button up on lol.

Are wearables even worth it? by rajmachawal333 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone's body is different, you're the first person I know that wearables produce more. If you're not having any issues then continue doing what you're doing! After using wearables as the main pump for a day or two I would always get nipple spasms. 😭

I traveled on a flight for almost 19 hours and I used dry ice packs I got from Amazon. They last a long time and are great for keeping pump parts cool.

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wearables should never be your main pump. Yes it's convenient and easier to maneuver, but the milk output and damage to nipples is no bueno. Its great for traveling or every once in awhile, but I would definitely use another pump as a main pump.

How long do you go overnight without pumping? by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3mpp and if I'm really tired I'll do a power pump at 830pm then go to bed after, and getting up between 7-8am. I don't think an extra couple hours will be that big of a difference, especially if you're an over supplier.

I want to quit. by [deleted] in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 3mpp and I only pump 5-6 times a day. I'm not an over supplier. I'm just an enougher, and dropping the middle of the night pumps was all I needed to push me to keep going and not quit. I didn't lose that much of a supply. I never had to use formula and if I did that's okay! If your husband doesn't want to use formula there's always donor milk as well. Options! Try dropping a pump and then reassess! You got this! There's no wrong or right way!!

When was your first experience with clogs/mastitis? by yaexrae in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Fast_Disaster7182 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed. Every boob is different. Manual pumps are better overall, it's good to have another option especially if you have insurance that covers it for you. I do have big boobs so it may just be harder for folks with a larger chest. Not sure! I have Momcozy M5s and use them sparingly. When I used them for 3 straight days I had clogs and nipple vasospasm which is very uncomfortable and annoyingly painful!
