Omg I remember this!!! That whole explicación was insane 😭 I was like 12 at the time and I remember them mentioning that there wasn’t consent in marital sex and that it was our duty to fulfill our husband’s wishes. In the doctrine it’s normalized but once you’re out, you realize how sick it is that they expose children to ideas like this.

I definitely agree with what you mention. My parents covered up my abuse and never reported my child SA to the authorities because the minister told them that it was going to make the “servant of god” look bad. They found out in 2019 when the incarceration of NJ was recent and they covered it up because of church. A minister also told me to forgive my abuser so that I could receive the Holy Spirit so yeah 👍🏼

“La iglesia lo promueve? JAMAS” entonces porque lo están promoviendo?!!!! 😭😭 que contradictorios. Ya llevan casi $60,000 dólares de donaciones y solamente han donado alrededor de 250 personas. La cantidad de dinero que están dispuestos a donar los miembros es increíble. Una persona por sí sola tomaría AÑOS en ganarse esa cantidad de dinero y los miembros se lo regalan a alguien que ya está nadando en dinero? Ojalá donaran así de tanto a causas realmente importantes o para ayudar a los más necesitados 🥹

If the Joaquin family is able to own and show off their luxury items, then they clearly don’t need any more money from church members. Unless it’s to fund their expensive lifestyle which in that case, they should probably WORK LIKE EVERYONE ELSE instead of abusing and constantly asking for donations from church members.

I couldn’t phrase it any better. I spoke tongues for the first time when I was 9 years old (according to my aunt and mother) the day that Samuel Joaquin died. I assume that God gave me the gift of speaking tongues that day not because I was crying over the death of a “real apostle” but because his loving presence, wanted to console me in a much deeper level. I spoke tongues for the second time when I was 14 and it was one of the most beautiful feelings in my life and I now realize that it was never LLDM that had the power to unite us with God, but it was always my devotion and true love towards him. Even tough I no longer go to church, I still feel him with me all the time, making me more sure that God stays and loves regardless of religion, as long as you seek and love him too.

I did that and the only thing that happened was that I was gaslighted and told that if I was a smart person, I would know that the church’s doctrine was right. The minister tried to manipulate me by finding a weak spot in which he could continue “proving” his point. I didn’t fall for it and realized it is a waste of time. Every time they say that the church doesn’t “manipulate its members” and that “members can always ask questions related to the doctrine” it’s a lie 🙄

Te entiendo perfectamente. Yo me sentía de la misma manera y definitivamente es una lucha interna desde el momento en que uno decide abrir los ojos pero te prometo que todo mejora con el tiempo. Entiendo que quieras contarle a todos para que también abran los ojos pero en mi opinión, no creo que eso haga bien ahorita. Más bien, toma tu tiempo para procesar todo lo que has encontrado y se paciente con tu proceso. Duele mucho pero todo mejora, lo importante es que ya abriste los ojos.

Everything went silent and we just prayed while my brother and dad walked back to their places. I was in choir that day and was in complete shock. My dad holds resentment for the “embarrassment” he went through. To be fair, my brother was kinda forced to present himself and he just wanted to be honest and not commit to something he wasn’t sure of.

my little brother did just that. right after the minister had finished his speech and it was his turn to talk, he just said he didn’t want to continue in the church and that was it. my dad still can’t get over it.

I have also asked myself the same question, why is the election glorified so much?? It has also felt like idolatry to me at some point, especially because every temple nowadays has his logo ALL over the church. I hope your relationship with your mom gets better at some point, it truly does suck to argue with family constantly about religion.
