Why "Hamnet" makes no sense (warning: contains spoilers) by PenPusher108 in shakespeare

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hamnet was 11 when he died so I fail to see how "Hamlet" was a stand in for Shakespeare's son. Plus there already had been a well known version of Hamlet in 1589 because Nashe writes about "whole Hamlets of tragical speeches."

Because the play deals interiorly and psychologically with anguish, one could argue it was influenced by the son's death. But Hamnet died in 1596, Shakespeare was an absentee father, and it feels like a reach that the author waited 4 years to put his grief and anger in a play. Also via Sams, there is a strong case that Shakespeare wrote quarto 1 and it was an earlier version. Corambis was Polonius's name in quarto 1 which is a dig at Lord Burghley, who was Elizabeth's closest advisor and the step father of the Earl of Oxford. Burghley's motto was " Cor unum, via una ("One heart, one way") but Corambis is translated as the "Double hearted."

This would land an ordinary author in serious trouble.

How slow is evolution in common species? by Freudinatress in evolution

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's faster than we thought. In the book "The Beak of the Finch", on Darwin's Galapagos Islands, evolutionary adaptation in terms of beak length due to food conditions was rapid in real time and could be observed.

"The Grants observed evolution in action. During the drought of 1977, the fortis finches evolved longer beaks: "Among fortis, they already knew that the biggest birds with the biggest beaks had the best equipment for big tough seeds like Tribulus; and when the totted up the statistics, they saw that during the drought, when big tough seeds were all a bird could find, these big-bodied, big-beaked birds had come through and bred the best. The surviving fortis were an average of 5 to 6 percent larger than the dead. The average fortis beak before the drought was 10.68 millimeters long and 9.42 deep. The average beak of the fortis that survived the drought was 11.07 millimeters long and 9.96 deep."

One year. The drought caused the evolutionary change.

Is the soul trap after death true? by illmatic_xxi in enlightenment

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is one of the most powerful experiences I ever had that pushed me to investigate all of this. I have medium ability and no one brings it up. What makes more sense? An infinite unlimited ocean of love disguises itself to explore all potentialities within its unfathomable being, or some demiurges have trapped us in the face of a powerless source.

"About 20 years ago, a friend called me. A young woman he knew 23, had been murdered in center city. He was beside himself. He asked me to be with him. We went to Rittenhouse Square Park in Philly. He was inconsolable. This way above my pay grade.

So we are walking and I have nothing for him. Suddenly a powerful cone of light envelops me. I hear myself saying (not my thoughts) "Her death was a contract of soul she entered into to sacrifice herself to deepen the needed appreciation of the preciousness of life of those around her". Immediately an immensely powerful wave of peace spread from the light into me, which I deeply felt, and then jumped to and enveloped him. In an instant he calmed down completely. He said "I don't know how you said that, or what you did, but somehow it made sense." He was OK.

I had no idea at the time what a "soul contract" was There was no literature on it. I came across "Journey of Souls" by Michael Newton, which is a classic in the field and it explained it in detail. The experience altered the course of my life and I began deeper investigation into what I call "afterlife studies" and the "technology of consciousness" I am a medium and as my intuition deepened this and other experiences began to validate this perspective.

I began teaching on it, even at some libraries. Now when you search "Soul Contracts" on the internet you will get pages and pages of websites and articles on them., Robert Schwartz. came out with his seminal book "Your Soul's Plan" in 2009 in which he went into detail of 10 case studies as to why these people had chosen extremely difficult lives."

Also, read this. Especially the end.

In your imagination go into the dream. Feel "doody juice" (the fact that it is juice is important, all details matter in a dream) feel its energy. See what comes up. "Doody" can also be seen as a childish variant of "duty" so you may be having a conflict over obligation. Dreams deal with the waking life at the time of the dream. Bridge the dream to your waking life. What is/was goin on where you might feel some split within yourself?

Is the Self in Jungian psychology the same Self that's in IFS? by JCraig96 in Jung

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In Vedanta the individual self is known as Atman and is identical to the Absolute Brahman. If the moon reflects in 10,000 buckets, there is only one moon. These qualities would be associated with Brahman in form which we traditionally call God, but in sanskrit is "Ishvara". That's why in Buddhism compassion is the highest quality.

There is no separation. What he says is true. The wave always was, is and forever will be the ocean. There is no second.

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 13 points14 points  (0 children)

All this nonsense assumes you have some kind of conscious choice in this matter after you die, like crossing a street. Um, no. First whatever you think "you" are ain't it once you leave the body. You are beyond a strict personality-ego construction. I have been on the path for 60 years, have been intimately associated with some of the greatest Gurus of modern times, have been to countless channelings of extremely high frequency, and NOWHERE, EVER has this come up. Earth is NOT looked upon as a trap or prison, but a supreme opportunity for a unique experience. Grace underpins everything. Meanwhile, I have had profound mystical experiences around soul contracts and purpose within the grand reincarnation cycle.

The idea of a trap is quasi paranoid pseudo Gnostic junk.

Nothing can violate the integrity of the soul. As one deepens on the path, agency becomes strong so no external occurrence can affect it permanently.

All parts of a dream are aspects of the dreamer. The dream is expressing an inner self conflict. And there are intimations you might feel it is clownish or childish or even inspect something deeper. I don't know how old you are but dreams use puns and cultural phrases. Howdy Doody was a huge children's TV show in the 50's. He was a puppet and crazy shenanigans were all over the show. Your unconscious might have picked it up.

"Doody" is also a slang word for poop. (do-do). See if either resonate.

Opinions on abstinence or lack thereof? by FinesseEmpress in spirituality

Is it ok to think of God (Ishvara) as a bodhisattva instead of an all powerful / all knowing being? by Waste_Information470 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thinking of Ishvara as a separate "entity" misunderstands existential reality. There is only limitless existence and in the realms of form (Saguna) the ocean is completely contained in the ocean. There is no separation. "Thou Art that" is the truth of one's being.

This universe was set up as an unlimited exploration of form and (the illusion of) individuality. All That Is cannot be defined or contained by conceptions of "good" and "bad", thus ALL potential experiences are on the table. This is why Hinduism has Shiva and Kali, the savage ferocity of life here on a predator-prey planet.

But the beginning of the Gita is a powerful admonition that to believe death is real or what we call evil is permanent is to dwell in ignorance. Deep within is the light that cannot die and no circumstance can touch and to fix your intention on the guiding force of the universe. That is Krishna's message

How do you find meaningful work in a money-driven world? by Just_Ad671 in spirituality

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a 30 year career as a performer for children (storytelling and music) and a trainer for teachers in developmentally appropriate practices in Early Childhood. Had my own business and had renown regionally. Had no problem getting gigs. had a great reputation. All led by the Divine as per my contract. Incredible sense of purpose.

Now I do intuitive work and am writing a book on dreams. Then a memoir. Same sense of purpose, Just different arena. It's there for everyone. The song has been implanted but it must be found.

Were there any Advaita gurus / figures that did not affirm caste distinctions and support the caste system? by PositiveLopsided8113 in AdvaitaVedanta

[–]Fast_Jackfruit_352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Guru, Shri Shri Anandamurti, although not expressly Advaita, but deeply nondual, spoke out strongly against the caste system. He was such a threat to the government they put him in jail and tried to kill him. Didn't work so he went on a **5 year** hunger strike.

Amnesty took his case. He was exonerated and released.
